Reminded by Mātali, Indra struck Bala's body with the thunderbolt; by that blow of the thunderbolt, Bala's body was shattered.
One part of Bala's body fell on the golden mountain, the second on the snowy mountain, and the third fell on Mount Goṇaga.

The fourth part fell into the divine river, the fifth on Mount Mandara, and a portion fell on Vajrākara; the sixth became Vijayāṅgaja.
Because of his pure lineage and purified deeds, all the limbs of his body became the seeds of jewels.
Fragments of bone from the thunderbolt became six-sided gems; from his eyes came sapphires, from his ears arose rubies.
Padmarāga gems came from his blood, emeralds from his fat; coral from his tongue, and pearls arose from his teeth.
Emeralds born from his marrow became gārutmata at his nose; bronze from his feces, silver from his semen, and copper from his urine.
From the rubbing of his body was born brass, and brahmavītikā gems; from his sound arose cat's-eye and another beautiful jewel.
Gold originated from his nails, quicksilver from his blood; crystal was born from his fat, and coral from his flesh.
The jewels that arose from Bala's body came to be on the earth, to be enjoyed by pure people as the fruit of accumulated merit.
Meanwhile, hearing that Bala had been slain by Maghavan in battle, a queen named Prabhāvatī went to his side.
Seeing her husband with his limbs scattered on the battlefield, Prabhāvatī, her eyes full of tears, her hair loose, her breasts heavy, lamented.
'Alas, lord, mighty and valiant, beloved body, dear to the world! Why have you abandoned me and attained this isolation?'
'Others, even knowing the body is afflicted by old age, leprosy, and such, do not give it up; but you, beloved, have cast off your body in vain.'
'With your divine body, my dear, the necklace is adorned; and the braid that you tied for me, eager for battle—'
'Untie it yourself, beloved, for me who am stricken with the sorrow of widowhood.' Seeing the queen of Bala lamenting thus, the ocean-born, distressed, said to Śukra: 'Revive Bala, O Bhārgava.'
Śukra said: He has attained death by his own will—how can I bring him back to life? Still, by the power of my mantra, he will utter speech.
Jālandhara said: Bhārgava, I wish to hear the form, strength, and words. Thus addressed by Jālandhara, he became absorbed in meditation for a moment.
Then, from his mouth arose a melodious sound, delightful to the ear, and in the presence of Prabhāvatī, musical instruments resounded clearly, as if from the heavens.
"Prabhāvatī, merge your own body into my limbs." Hearing these words, Prabhāvatī became a river.
She, merged into his limbs, flowed eastward from Mount Sumeru; from her waters arose the supreme brilliance of jewels.
Nārada said: Then, going there, I told the son of the ocean, 'Śaṃbhu has vowed to slay you, O lord of all heroes.' Hearing my words thus, O king, that asura questioned me.
Jālandhara said: O great sage, is there any treasure of jewels in the house of the trident-bearer? Tell me everything—there is no battle without a prize.
Nārada said: His wealth is ashes on his body, an old bull, serpents on his neck, poison at his throat, a begging bowl in his hand, and his sons are the elephant-faced and six-faced ones.
Such is his prosperity; listen to what else there is. His wife is the daughter of the mountain king, broad-hipped and high-breasted.
Though the god of love was burned by him, even he was deluded by her form. Maheśa, for his own amusement, always creates wonders.
Śaṃbhu himself becomes a dancer and singer for her, making her laugh. She is renowned as Pārvatī, the very limit of beauty among goddesses.
O king, Vṛndā is a most excellent woman, and these celestial nymphs are beautiful, but not even one-sixteenth of Pārvatī's beauty do they attain.
Having spoken thus, O king, I, Nārada, vanished in an instant before all the daityas, leaving Jālandhara, who was unyielding.
Then the son of the ocean sent a messenger, the son of Siṃhikā. In a moment, he reached Kailāsa and beheld the abode of the gods.
