By the power of the Vaishnavas, mortals live on earth; atop temple spires and in shrines of the gods—
Just as the images of the sun shine, so do the discs; in Vaikuntha, that radiance is seen, and the same radiance appears on earth.
By that king, O Brahmin, and by the great soul, merit was created; the equality of Vishnu's world was brought to earth.
By Nahusha's son, the Vaishnava Yayati, the state of both worlds became unified on earth.
No difference is seen between Vishnu and the earth; in Vaikuntha, Vaishnavas utter Vishnu's name, and—
On earth, people utter it in the same way; O Brahmin, the same state is seen in both worlds.
There was no old age, disease, or fear; people became free from death; the power of charity and enjoyment was seen to increase on earth.
The happiness and merit of sons, and even more of grandsons, was enjoyed by people with ease, O best of men, on earth.
By the gift of Vishnu's favor and his instruction, all Vaishnavas were always freed from every disease.
The king established the radiance of heaven on earth, O best of kings, for twenty-five years.
All men who are free from disease, devoted to knowledge and meditation, all who are dedicated to sacrifice and charity, and all humans who lack compassion—
Those who delight in helping others, who are virtuous and blessed, who are the recipients of fame, all are devoted to righteousness, O Brahmin, and intent on meditating upon Vishnu.
Instructed by that king, they became Vaishnavas on earth. Vishnu said: Hear, O tiger among kings, the story of that sovereign.
Always devoted to all dharmas and a devotee of Vishnu was Nahusha's descendant; there, a hundred thousand years passed for him on earth in this way.
A new body is seen, as if twenty-five years old; he shines with the form and age of one who is twenty-five.
Strong and endowed with maturity, by the grace of the wielder of the discus, those humans, having taken up life on earth, do not go to Yama.
Freed from passion and hatred, released from the bonds of affliction, happy through the merit of giving, and devoted to all dharmas.
All those people, O king, spread in lineage, just as blades of sacred grass expand upon the earth.
Just as those humans are extended through sons and grandsons, those people live long, free from the fault of death.
With firm bodies, happy, free from old age and disease, all men are seen on earth as if twenty-five years old.
All are devoted to truth and right conduct, intent on meditating upon Vishnu; thus, all mortals are so by the grace of the wielder of the discus.
All humans born are devoted to giving and enjoyment; O best of men, no mortal is heard to die in the world.
They do not experience sorrow nor do they incur any fault; as is the nature of heaven, so is the nature of earth.
This has arisen, O best of men, by the grace of the wielder of the discus; the messengers of Yama have been cast out, struck by the messengers of Vishnu.
All of them, weeping, went together to Dharmaraja; all that was done by the king was reported by the messengers.
The earth became free from death through giving and enjoyment under the sun, accomplished even by Devayayati, the son of Nahusha.
By that virtuous devotee of Vishnu, the earth was made to resemble heaven; thus, all was heard by Dharmaraja at that time.
Then Dharmaraja, having heard the full account from the messengers, reflected upon all matters after hearing of the king’s deeds.
Thus, in the glorious Padma Purāṇa, in the Bhūmikhaṇḍa, within the tale of Vena, in the description of the holy places for mothers and fathers, and in the story of Yayāti, this is the seventy-fifth chapter.
Sukarma said: Then Sauri, together with all the messengers, went to heaven to see the thousand-eyed one, surrounded by the hosts of gods.
