When that righteous king Yayāti ruled, then all humans were devoted to Viṣṇu's vows.
All were absorbed in his meditation, intent upon that state of being; their homes, O best of twice-born, were divine and auspicious.
Those houses were adorned with pure white banners, with conch symbols, and always with flags marked by the mace and the discus.
Marked with lotuses, they shone, resembling celestial palaces; the walls of the houses were painted with beautiful designs.
Everywhere at the doorways of houses, in auspicious places, O noble ones, there were divine groves and beautiful green lawns.
And, O best of twice-born, in those places, with temples of Keśava, the auspicious, divine houses of beings always shone with holy basil.
Everywhere, the Vaiṣṇava spirit and great auspiciousness were visible; the sounds of conches on earth were heard, resounding in mutual exchange, O friend.
There, O foremost of Brāhmaṇas, were heard sounds that destroy faults and sins; conches, svastikas, and lotuses were at the doorways and on the walls.
Drawn by women devoted to Viṣṇu, O best of twice-born, with golden musical tones, melodies, and sweet notes.
People, devoted to meditation on Viṣṇu, sing of Keśava.
They speak with affection of Hari, the enemy of Mura, Keśava, and the victorious Mādhava; others of Śrī Nṛsiṃha, the lotus-eyed one, Govinda, the sole lord of Lakṣmī.
They recite the names of Kṛṣṇa, the refuge and protector, and worship Rāma with recitations; bowing with staff in hand, they salute Viṣṇu, absorbed in his meditation—these are the supreme Vaiṣṇavas.
Thus ends the seventy-fourth chapter in the story of Vena, describing the holy places of mother and father, and the tale of Yayati, in the Bhūmikhaṇḍa of the glorious Padma Purāṇa.
Sukarma said: Vishnu, Krishna, Hari, Rama, Mukunda, Madhusudana, Narayana, the form of Vishnu, Narasimha, that infallible one—
Keshava, Padmanabha, Vasudeva, Vamana, Varaha, Kurma, Matsya, Hrishikesha, lord of the gods—
Lord of the universe, universal form, infinite, sinless, pure, the person, lotus-eyed, bearer of fortune, husband of fortune, Hari—
Shrinivasa, clad in yellow, Madhava, giver of liberation, master—thus, always, people utter these names.
All people—children, elders, maidens, women—constantly sing of Hari, even while engaged in household tasks.
Whether seated, lying down, traveling, meditating, or speaking, they remember Madhava; even playing, children bow to Govinda.
Day and night, they utter the sweet name of Hari; everywhere, O best of twice-born, the name of Vishnu is heard.
By the power of the Vaishnavas, mortals live on earth; atop temple spires and in shrines of the gods—
Just as the images of the sun shine, so do the discs; in Vaikuntha, that radiance is seen, and the same radiance appears on earth.
By that king, O Brahmin, and by the great soul, merit was created; the equality of Vishnu's world was brought to earth.
By Nahusha's son, the Vaishnava Yayati, the state of both worlds became unified on earth.
No difference is seen between Vishnu and the earth; in Vaikuntha, Vaishnavas utter Vishnu's name, and—
On earth, people utter it in the same way; O Brahmin, the same state is seen in both worlds.
There was no old age, disease, or fear; people became free from death; the power of charity and enjoyment was seen to increase on earth.
The happiness and merit of sons, and even more of grandsons, was enjoyed by people with ease, O best of men, on earth.
By the gift of Vishnu's favor and his instruction, all Vaishnavas were always freed from every disease.
The king established the radiance of heaven on earth, O best of kings, for twenty-five years.
