Humans afflicted by sin and disease go to death; the greatly deluded do not drink the elixir of Kṛṣṇa's name.
By that meditation, by that knowledge, by the feeling of worship, O Mātali, and by truth and the merit of giving, my body is free from illness.
From the increase of sin, painful diseases arise in embodied beings; from those pains, death is born for living creatures—of this there is no doubt.
Therefore, righteousness should be practiced by men relying on merit and truth; the body, composed of the five elements, is worn out by joints and connections.
Thus, a mortal joined together like a goldsmith with his tools, there shines a great fire, always moving within the metal.
O wise one, just as one who joins together a hundred pieces of metal, so too, O Pippala, by the divine name of Hari and by good fortune.
For the pieces, indeed, are fivefold, worn out by a hundred joints; when all are joined together by that, the body becomes like the essence of metal.
By worship and service to Hari, by meditation and discipline, by truthfulness and giving, a new body is produced.
Listen, Matali: when the faults of the body are destroyed, diseases vanish; for one who maintains both external and internal purity, foul odors never arise.
Thus, O charioteer, by the grace of the Discus-wielder, one becomes pure; I will not go to heaven—I will make heaven here itself.
By austerity, by disposition, and by following one's own duty, I will make the earth into the form of heaven, through the grace of the Discus-wielder.
Knowing this, you should go and tell Purandara; Sukarma said—Having heard the king's words,
The charioteer, after offering blessings and taking leave of the king, went and reported everything to the great Indra.
Hearing of the great-souled Yayati from the messenger, the thousand-eyed one then considered how to bring him to heaven.
Thus ends the seventy-second chapter in the story of Yayati, in the description of the holy place for mothers and fathers, in the Vena narrative, in the Bhumi Khanda of the glorious Padma Purana.
Pippala said—When that great soul, Indra's messenger, had departed, what did the righteous Yayati, son of Nahusha, do?
Sukarma said—When the messenger of the lord of the gods had departed, the king's son reflected; summoning the foremost messengers quickly, he instructed them with words grounded in righteousness and purpose.
Let the foremost messengers go to the best of cities, to all regions, to all islands, to the entire world; let them carry out my righteous command, and let the people proceed on the good path of Hari.
Let people, abandoning sense objects, worship Madhusudana alone with pure intentions, with meditation, knowledge, sacrifices, austerities, and gifts, all as pure as nectar.
Let everyone see the one enemy of the demons everywhere—in dry and wet places, in immovable things, in clouds, on earth, among moving and unmoving beings, and even in their own bodies as the form of life.
Let them offer gifts to that god, with the spirit of hospitality and ancestral rites; worship the divine Narayana, and you will soon become free from faults.
Whoever, out of greed or delusion, does not carry out my command here among men, let him be punished; he will certainly go to ruin, just as a thief is despised even by me.
Hearing the king's words, the messengers, filled with joy, announced to all the people throughout the earth the king's decree as it was given.
Brahmins and other mortals, the nectar of supreme merit has thus been brought to earth by that king; let all drink this merit, known as Parivaisnava, free from faults and yielding the desired result.
The nectar of names, which removes faults, has been brought by the good king; let the people drink it—Śrī Keshava, remover of suffering, worthy of worship, embodiment of supreme bliss and truth.
Let the people drink the nectar of names, which removes faults, brought by the good king—of him who holds a sword in hand, called Madhusudana, Śrīnivasa, endowed with qualities, lord of the gods.
Let the people drink the nectar of the Name, brought by the command of the gods, which removes faults—of the blessed Lord Padmanātha, the lotus-eyed, the support of the worlds, the great Lord.
Let the people drink the nectar of the Name, brought by the command of the gods, which removes faults—destroyer of sin, destroyer of disease, giver of joy, destroyer of Dānavas and Daityas.
Let the people drink the nectar of the Name, brought by the command of the gods, which removes faults—who is the form of sacrifice, whose hands are the limbs of sacrifice, source of merit, embodiment of inner happiness.
Let the people drink the nectar of the Name, brought by the command of the gods, which removes faults—dwelling place of the universe, pure, tranquil, called Rāma, delightful, enemy of Mura.
