शिखी दीर्घतमाश्चैव गौतमः कश्यपस्तथा । श्वेतकेतुः कहोडश्च पुलहो देवलस्तथा
Śikhī, Dīrghatamas, Gautama, Kaśyapa, Śvetaketu, Kahoḍa, Pulaha, and Devala,
विश्वामित्र भरद्वाजौ जमदग्निश्च वीर्यवान् । ऋचीकपुत्रो गर्गश्च ऋषिरुद्दालकस्तथा
Viśvāmitra, Bharadvāja, the mighty Jamadagni, Ṛcīka’s son Garga, and the sage Uddālaka,
देवशर्माऽथ धौम्यश्च आस्तीकः कश्यपस्तथा । लोमशो नाभिकेतुश्च लोमहर्षण एव च
Devaśarman, Dhaumya, Āstīka, Kaśyapa, Lomaśa, Nābhiketu, and Lomaharṣaṇa as well,
ऋषिरुग्रश्रवाश्चैव भार्गवश्च्यवनस्तथा । वालखिल्यादयो ये च सर्वे गच्छंति तत्र वै
The sage Ugraśravā, Bhārgava Cyavana, and all the Vālakhilyas— all these indeed go there.
कृतस्नाना निराहाराः सदा विष्णुपरायणाः । शंखचक्रगदाधरास्तटे तिष्ठंति नित्यशः
Having bathed and abstained from food, always devoted to Vishnu, those who bear the conch, discus, and mace stand constantly upon the riverbank.
पितृतीर्थं गयानाम सर्वतीर्थवरं शुभम् । यत्रास्ते देवदेवेशः स्वयमेव पितामहः
The sacred place called Gayā, the foremost and auspicious of all holy sites for ancestors, is where the Lord of gods, Brahma himself, resides.
गीतायाः पितृभिर्गाथा श्राद्धभागमपीप्सुभिः । एष्टव्या बहवः पुत्रा यद्येकोऽपि गयां व्रजेत्
In the Gita, the ancestors sing verses, desiring a share in the offerings; many sons should perform rites, but if even one goes to Gayā, it suffices.
यजेत वाश्वमेधेन नीलं वा वृषमुत्सृजेत् । तथा वाराणसी पुण्या पितॄणां वल्लभा सदा
One may perform the horse sacrifice or release a blue bull; likewise, Varanasi is always holy and beloved by the ancestors.
या चैव मम सांनिध्याद्भुक्तिमुक्तिफलप्रदा । ममाज्ञया तु देवेशो बिंदुमाधवसंज्ञकः
By my presence, it grants both enjoyment and liberation; by my command, the Lord of gods is known as Bindumadhava.
नित्यं तिष्ठति देवेशि वाराणस्यां विशेषतः । अतो धन्यतमा श्रेष्ठा पुरीयं मम सर्वदा
O goddess of the gods, he always dwells especially in Varanasi; therefore, this city is ever the most blessed and excellent of mine.
पितॄणां वल्लभं तीर्थं पुण्यं वै विमलेश्वरम् । पितृतीर्थं प्रयागं च सर्वतीर्थसमन्वितम् 6.135.
The sacred site Vimaleshvara, beloved of the ancestors, and the ancestral site Prayāga, endowed with all holy places.
साभ्रमत्युदके देवि आयांति वचनान्मम । वटेश्वरश्च भगवान्माधवेन समन्वितः
O goddess, they come to the waters at my command; and the Lord Vaṭeśvara is accompanied by Mādhava.
दशाश्वमेधकं पुण्यं गंगाद्वारं तथैव च । मन्नियोगाच्च देवेशि साभ्रमत्यां वसंति हि
The holy place of ten horse sacrifices, and likewise the gateway to the Ganges; by my order, O goddess of the gods, they reside in Sābhramatī.
नदाथ ललितादेवी तीर्थं यत्सप्तधारकम् । तथा मित्रपदं नाम केदारं शंकरालयम्
The river Lalitādevī, the holy site with seven streams, and likewise Mitrapada, and Kedāra, the abode of Śaṃkara.
गंगासागरमित्याहुः सर्वतीर्थमयं शुभम् । तीर्थं ब्रह्मसरस्तद्वच्छतद्रु सलिले ह्रदे
They call it Gangāsāgara, the auspicious site composed of all holy places; so too Brahmasaras, and the lake with the waters of the Shatadru.
तीर्थं तु नैमिषं नाम आज्ञया मम सर्वदा । साभ्रमत्युदके देवि निवसंति न संशयः
The holy site called Naimisha, always by my command; O goddess, they reside in Sābhramatī's waters, without doubt.
श्वेता वल्कलिनी पुण्या ततः श्वेता हिरण्मयी । हस्तिमत्यथवार्त्तघ्नी नदी सागरगामिनी
Śvetā, the pure river clad in bark, then Śvetā, the golden one; Hastimatī and Vārttaghnī, rivers flowing to the ocean.
पितॄणां वल्लभा ह्येताः श्राद्धकोटिफलप्रदः । तत्र श्राद्धानि देयानि पुत्रैः पितृहिताय वै
These are beloved of the ancestors, granting the fruit of countless offerings; there, sons should give offerings for the benefit of their fathers.
पाटलं वाडवाख्यं च नगरं तत्र सुंदरि । साभ्रमत्यां सदा एताः प्राप्ता नद्यो विशेषतः
Pāṭala and the city called Vāḍava, O beautiful one; these rivers especially reach Sābhramatī always.
तत्र स्नानं च दानं च ये कुर्वंति नरा भुवि । इहलोके सुखं भुक्त्वा यांति विष्णोः सनातनम्
Those people who bathe and give gifts there on earth, after enjoying happiness in this world, attain Vishnu's eternal abode.
जंबूद्वीपं महापुण्यं यत्र पुण्यं विवर्द्धते । तत्रार्याख्यं महापुण्यं सर्वकामफलप्रदम्
Jambūdvīpa, the great and holy land where merit increases; there is the place called Ārya, supremely holy and granting all desires.
नीलकंठमिति ख्यातं तीर्थं नंदह्रदस्तथा । तथा रुद्रह्रदस्तीर्थं पुण्यं रुद्र महालयम्
The holy site known as Nīlakaṇṭha, and likewise Nanda Lake; also Rudra Lake, the sacred abode of Rudra.
मंदाकिनी महापुण्या तथाच्छोदा महानदी । साभ्रमत्यां वहंत्येते स्वात्मना दर्शनीकृते
The Mandakini, supremely holy, and likewise the Chhoda, the great river—these flow here, manifesting themselves for the sake of vision.
धूम्रा मित्रपदं तद्वद्वैजनाथं दृषद्वरम् । क्षिप्रा नदी महाकालं तथा कालिंजरो गिरिः
Dhūmrā, the seat of Mitra; Vaijanātha, the excellent stone; Kṣiprā, the river; Mahākāla, and also Kālinjara, the mountain.
गंगोद्भूतं हरोद्भेदं नर्मदाकारमेव च । गंगापिंडप्रदानेन समान्याहुर्मनीषिणः
The emergence of the Ganges, the bursting forth of Hari, and likewise the form of the Narmada—these, through the offering of Ganga-pinda, are declared by the wise to be equivalent.
एतानि ब्रह्मतीर्थानि साभ्रमत्युत्तरे तटे । गुप्तीकृतानि देवेशि देवैर्ब्रह्मपुरोगमैः
These are Brahma-tirthas, situated on the northern bank of the Sabrāmatī, concealed, O Lady of the Gods, by the gods led by Brahma.
स्मरणादपि लोकानां पापघ्नानि महेश्वरि । किं पुनः श्राद्धदातॄणां मानवानां सुरेश्वरि
Even by remembrance, O Great Goddess, they destroy the sins of people; how much more so for those who perform śrāddha, O Queen of the Gods.
ॐकारं पितृतीर्थं च कावेरी कपिलोदकम् । संभेदश्चंडवेगायास्तथैवामरकंटकम्
Omkara, the Pitṛ-tirtha, Kaveri, the water of Kapila, the confluence of Chandavega, and likewise Amarakantaka.
कुरुक्षेत्राच्छतगुणमस्मिन्स्नानादिकं भवेत् । वार्तघ्नीसंगमे देवि गणेश्वरपुरःसरम्
Bathing and related rites here yield a hundred times the merit of Kurukshetra, O Goddess, at the confluence of Vārtaghnī, with Ganesh as the foremost.
साभ्रमत्यां पुरा नीतं गणैस्तीर्थकदंकबम् । एष तूद्देशतः प्रोक्तस्तीर्थानां संगमो मया
Formerly, the multitude of Gaṇas brought the cluster of tirthas to the Sabrāmatī; this, in brief, is the confluence of tirthas as described by me.
