शालग्रामोद्भवं तीर्थं गल्लिकायां सुरेश्वरि । नर्मदायां शिवाख्यं तु मायायां विश्वरूपकम्
The holy place born at Śālagrāma, at Gallikā, Sureśvarī; at Narmadā, the one called Śiva, and at Māyā, Viśvarūpaka.
उत्पलाक्षं सहस्राक्षं जातं वै रैवते गिरौ । गंगायां पितृतीर्थं च विष्णुपादोद्भवं तथा
Utpalākṣa and Sahasrākṣa arose on the Raivata mountain; at Gaṅgā, the Pitṛtīrtha, and also the one born from Viṣṇu's foot.
विपाशायां विपापा च पाटले पुंड्रवर्द्धनम् । नारायणं सुपार्श्वे तु त्रिकूटे विष्णुमंदिरम्
At Vipāśā, Vipāpā; at Pāṭala, Puṇḍravardhana; Nārāyaṇa at Supārśva, and the Viṣṇu temple at Trikūṭa.
विपुले विपुलं नाम कल्याणं मलयाचले । कौरवं कोटितीर्थे च सुगंधं गंधमादने
At Vipula, the one called Vipula; Kalyāṇa at Malayācala; Kaurava at Koṭitīrtha, Sugandha at Gandhamādana.
कुब्जाम्रके त्रिसंध्यं तु गंगांद्वारे हरिप्रियम् । शैलं विंध्यप्रदेशे तु बदर्यां सारस्वतं स्मृतम्
At Kubjāmraka, Trisaṃdhya; at Gaṅgādvāra, dear to Hari; at the Vindhya region, Śaila; at Badarī, Sārasvata is remembered.
कालिद्यां कालरूपं च सह्ये वै सायकं स्मृतम् । चांद्रं चंद्रप्रदेशे तु रमणं तीर्थनायकम्
At Kālidyā, Kālarūpa; at Sahya, Sāyaka is remembered; at Caṃdra, in the region of the moon, Ramaṇa, the chief of holy places.
यमुनायां मृगाख्यं तु करवीरे कुरूद्भवम् । विनायके पर्वते वै उमाख्यं तीर्थमेव च
At Yamunā, Mṛgākhya; at Karavīra, born of the Kurus; at Vināyaka mountain, the holy place called Umā.
आरोग्यं भास्करे देशे महाकाले महेश्वरम् । तीर्थं अभयदं नामामृताख्यं विंध्यकंधरे
Ārogya in the land of Bhāskara; Maheśvara at Mahākāla; the holy place named Abhayada, called Amṛta, on the Vindhya slope.
मंडपे विश्वरूपं च स्वाहाख्यं ईश्वरे पुरे । वैगलेयं प्रचंडायां चांडिकंमरकंटके
Viśvarūpa at Maṇḍapa; Svāhākhya in the city of Īśvara; Vaigaleya at Pracaṇḍā, Caṇḍika at Marakaṇṭaka.
सोमेश्वरं तथा तीर्थे प्रभासे पुष्करं तथा । देवमात्रं सरस्वत्यां पारावततटे स्थितम्
Someśvara at the holy place, and at Prabhāsa, Puṣkara; Devamātra on the Sarasvatī, situated on the bank of Pārāvata.
महालयं महापद्मे पयोष्ण्यां पिंगलेश्वरम् । सिंहिकायां तथा तीर्थं सौरवेरविसंज्ञकम्
Mahālaya at Mahāpadma; Piṅgaleśvara at Payoṣṇī; at Siṃhikā, the holy place called Sauravera.
कार्तिकं कृत्तिकाक्षेत्रे शांकरं शंकरे गिरौ । उत्पलाख्यं ततो दिव्यं सुभद्रा सिंधुसंगमे
Kārtika at the field of Kṛttikā; Śaṃkara on the mountain of Śaṃkara; then the divine Utpalākhya, and Subhadrā at the confluence of the Sindhu.
गाणपत्यं ततश्चैव पर्वतो विष्णुसंज्ञके । जालंधरे ततः प्रोक्तं तीर्थं विष्णुमुखं च यत्
Gāṇapatya after that, and the mountain named after Viṣṇu; at Jālaṃdhara, the holy place called Viṣṇumukha is mentioned.
तारे वै तारकं प्रोक्तं पर्वते विष्णुसंज्ञके । देवदारुवने पौंड्रं पौष्कं काश्मीरमंडले
At Tāra, Tāraka is mentioned; on the mountain named after Viṣṇu; in the Devadāru forest, Pauṇḍra and Pauṣka in the region of Kashmir.
भौमं हिमं हिमाद्रौ च तुष्टिकं पौष्टिकं पुनः । कपालमोचनं तीर्थं जातं मायापुरे तथा
Earthly snow on the Himalaya, the Tustika and Paustika, again; the Kapalamocana sacred place arose in Mayapura as well.
शंखोद्धारं ततश्चैव देवं वै शंखधारकम् । पिंडे वै पिंडनामानं सिद्धे वैखानसं भवेत्
Then the Shankoddhara, and the god Shankadharaka; in Pinda, the one named Pinda, and in Siddha, the Vaikhanasa is found.
अच्छोदे विष्णुकामं तु धर्मकामार्थमोक्षदम् । औषध्यं चोत्तरेकूले कुशद्वीपे कुशोदकम्
In Acchoda, the Vishnu-kama, which grants dharma, desire, wealth, and liberation; medicinal water on the northern bank, and in Kushadvipa, the Kushodaka.
मन्मथं हेमकूटे तु कुमुदे सत्यवादनम् । वदंत्यावाश्वकं तीर्थं विंध्ये वै मातृकं स्मृतम्
Manmatha in Hemakuta, Kumuda with Satyavada; they speak of Avashvaka as a sacred place, and in Vindhya, Matrika is remembered.
चित्ते ब्रह्ममयं तीर्थं तीर्थानां पावनं स्मृतम् । एतेषां सर्वतीर्थानामुत्तमं शृणु सुंदरि
In Citta, the Brahmamaya sacred place, regarded as the purifier of holy sites; listen, O beautiful one, to the best among all these sacred places.
विष्णोर्नाममयं तीर्थं न भूतं न भविष्यति । ब्रह्महा हेमहारी वा बालहा गोघ्न एव च
The sacred place composed of Vishnu's name has never existed nor will it exist; whether a killer of a Brahmin, a thief of gold, a slayer of children, or a killer of cows,
मुच्यते नाममात्रेण प्रसादात्केशवस्य तु । कलौ द्वारवती रम्या धन्यो देवो जनार्दनः
Is released merely by the name, by the grace of Keshava; in Kali Yuga, Dvaravati is delightful, and the blessed god Janardana.
ये पश्यंति नरा देवं मुक्तिस्तेषां सुनिश्चला । एवं धन्यतमं देवं विष्णुं सर्वेश्वरं प्रभुम्
Those men who see the god have unwavering liberation; thus, the most blessed god Vishnu, the lord of all, the master.
चिंतयामि महादेवि विद्वत्संस्थो जनार्दनम् । अष्टोत्तरं तु तीर्थानां शतमेतदुदाहृतम्
I contemplate Janardana, O great goddess, established among the wise; this is the enumeration of one hundred and eight sacred places.
यो जपेच्छृणुयाद्वापि सर्वपापैः प्रमुच्यते । एषु तीर्थेषु यः स्नात्वा पश्येन्नारायणं हरिम्
Whoever recites or hears this is freed from all sins; whoever bathes at these sacred places and beholds Narayana, Hari,
सर्वपापविनिर्मुक्तो याति विष्णोः सनातनम् । जगन्नाथं महातीर्थं लोकानां पावनं स्मृतम्
Is freed from all sins and attains the eternal abode of Vishnu; Jagannatha is the great sacred place, regarded as the purifier of the worlds.
ये गच्छंति नरश्रेष्ठास्तेपि यांति परां गतिम् । शताष्टकं महापुण्यं श्रावयेत्पितृकर्मणि
Those best among men who go there also attain the supreme path; the hundred and eight, of great merit, should be recited for ancestral rites.
इहलोके सुखं भुक्त्वा याति विष्णोः सनातनम् । गोदाने श्राद्धदाने वा अहन्यहनि वा पुनः
Having enjoyed happiness in this world, one attains the eternal abode of Vishnu; whether in giving cows or in funeral offerings, or day by day again,
देवार्चनविधौ विद्वान्परं ब्रह्माधिगच्छति
The learned, in the method of worshipping the gods, attains the supreme Brahman.
इति श्रीपाद्मे महापुराणे पंचपंचाशत्साहस्र्यां संहितायां उत्तरखंडे जंबूद्वीपतीर्थवर्णनंनाम त्रयस्त्रिंशाधिकशततमोऽध्यायः
Thus, in the glorious Padma Mahapurana, in the section of fifty-five thousand verses, in the Uttarakanda, the description of the sacred places of Jambudvipa, the one hundred and thirty-third chapter.
महादेव उवाच। वेत्रवत्यास्तु माहात्म्यं वक्ष्यामि शृणु सुंदरि । यत्र स्नात्वा विमुच्यंते यावदाभूतसंप्लवम्
Mahadeva said: I will declare the greatness of the Vetravati; listen, O beautiful one, where bathing frees one from all accumulated faults.
