ध्यायमानः स धर्मात्मा कृष्णं क्लेशापहं प्रभुम् । आसने शयने याने ध्याने च मधुसूदनम्
Meditating, that righteous soul contemplated Krishna, the remover of suffering, the Lord, whether sitting, lying, traveling, or in meditation, on Madhusudana.
नित्यं पश्यति युक्तात्मा योगयुक्तो जितेंद्रियः । चराचरेषु जीवेषु तेषु पश्यति केशवम्
Always, with a disciplined mind and controlled senses, united in yoga, he sees Keshava among all living beings, both moving and unmoving.
आर्द्रेषु चैव शुष्केषु सर्वेष्वन्येषु स द्विजः । एवं वर्षशतं जातं तप्यमानस्य तस्य च
In the wet and the dry, and in all other things, that twice-born one likewise saw him; thus, a hundred years passed as he performed austerities.
समालोक्य जगन्नाथश्चक्रपाणिर्द्विजोत्तमम् । बहुविघ्नान्सुघोरांश्च दर्शयत्येव नित्यशः
Beholding him, the Lord of the universe, wielder of the discus, constantly showed that best of twice-born many severe and terrible obstacles.
तेजसा तस्य देवस्य नृसिंहस्य महात्मनः । निरातंकः स धर्मात्मा दहत्यग्निरिवेंधनम्
By the power of that god, the great-souled Narasimha, that righteous one remained untroubled, burning them up like fire consumes fuel.
नियमैः संयमैश्चान्यैरुपवासैर्द्विजोत्तमः । क्षीयमाणस्तु संजातो दीप्यमानः स्वतेजसा
Through vows, restraints, and other disciplines, and by fasting, that best of twice-born, though wasting away, shone brightly with his own splendor.
सूर्यपावकसंकाशस्त्वंग एवं प्रदृश्यते । एवं तपःसु निरतं ध्यायमानं जनार्दनम्
Radiant as the sun and fire, Anga was thus seen; so, absorbed in austerities, he was meditating on Janardana.
आविर्भूयाब्रवीद्देवो वरं वरय मानद । तं च दृष्ट्वा हृषीकेशमंगः परम निर्वृतः
The deity appeared and spoke: 'Choose a boon, O giver of honor.' Seeing Hṛṣīkeśa, Anga was supremely delighted.
तुष्टाव प्रणतो भूत्वा वासुदेवं प्रसन्नधीः
With a pleased mind, he bowed and praised Vāsudeva.
अंग उवाच- त्वं गतिः सर्वभूतानां भूतभावन पावन । भूतात्मा सर्वभूतेश नमस्तुभ्यं गुणात्मने
Anga said: You are the refuge of all beings, creator and purifier of existence; you are the soul of beings, lord of all creatures. Salutations to you, embodiment of virtues.
गुणरूपाय गुह्याय गुणातीताय ते नमः । गुणाय गुणकर्त्रे च गुणाढ्याय गुणात्मने
Salutations to you, whose form is virtue, who is mysterious, who transcends virtue; to virtue itself, to the creator of virtue, to the one rich in virtue, to the soul of virtue.
भवाय भवकर्त्रे च भक्तानां भवहारिणे । भवोद्भवाय गुह्याय नमो भवविनाशिने
Salutations to the source of existence, to its creator, to the remover of existence for devotees; to the origin of existence, to the mysterious one, to the destroyer of existence.
यज्ञाय यज्ञरूपाय यज्ञेशाय नमोनमः । यज्ञकर्मप्रसंगाय नमः शंखधराय च
Salutations again and again to the sacrifice, to the form of sacrifice, to the lord of sacrifice; to the one associated with sacrificial acts, and to the bearer of the conch.
नमोनमो हिरण्याय नमो रथांगधारिणे । सत्याय सत्यभावाय सर्वसत्यमयाय च
Salutations again and again to the golden one, to the bearer of the chariot wheel; to the true one, to the embodiment of truth, to the one composed entirely of truth.
धर्माय धर्मकर्त्रे च सर्वकर्त्रे च ते नमः । धर्मांगाय सुवीराय धर्माधाराय ते नमः
Salutations to Dharma, to the creator of Dharma, to the creator of all; to the one whose limbs are Dharma, to the noble hero, to the supporter of Dharma.
नमः पुण्याय पुत्राय ह्यपुत्राय महात्मने । मायामोहविनाशाय सर्वमायाकराय ते
Salutations to the virtuous one, to the son, and to the great soul who is without a son; to the destroyer of illusion and delusion, to the creator of all illusions.
मायाधराय मूर्ताय त्वमूर्ताय नमोनमः । सर्वमूर्तिधरायैव शंकराय नमोनमः
Salutations again and again to the bearer of illusion, to the embodied one, to the unembodied; to the bearer of all forms, to Śaṃkara, salutations.
ब्रह्मणे ब्रह्मरूपाय परब्रह्मस्वरूपिणे । नमस्ते सर्वधाम्ने च नमो धामधराय च
Salutations to Brahman, to the one whose form is Brahman, to the essence of supreme Brahman; to you, the abode of all, and to the bearer of abodes, salutations.
श्रीमते श्रीनिवासाय श्रीधराय नमोनमः । क्षीरसागरवासाय चामृताय च ते नमः
Salutations again and again to the glorious one, to Śrīnivāsa, to the bearer of fortune; to the dweller in the ocean of milk, and to the immortal one, salutations to you.
महौषधाय घोराय महाप्रज्ञापराय च । अक्रूराय प्रमेध्याय मेध्यानां पतये नमः
Salutations to the great medicine, to the fierce one, to the supreme in wisdom; to the gentle one, to the pure one, to the lord of the pure, salutations.
अनंताय ह्यशेषाय चानघाय नमोनमः । आकाशस्य प्रकाशाय पक्षिरूपाय ते नमः
Salutations again and again to the infinite one, to the all-encompassing, to the sinless; to the light of the sky, to the one in the form of a bird, salutations to you.
हुताय हुतभोक्त्रे च हवीरूपाय ते नमः । बुद्धाय बुधरूपाय सदाबुद्धाय ते नमः
Salutations to the offered, to the enjoyer of offerings, to the one whose form is the oblation; to the wise one, to the form of wisdom, to the ever-wise, salutations to you.
नमो हव्यायकव्याय स्वधाकाराय ते नमः । स्वाहाकाराय शुद्धाय ह्यव्यक्ताय महात्मने
Salutations to the one invoked in oblations and ancestral offerings, to the maker of svadhā; to the maker of svāhā, to the pure, to the unmanifest, to the great soul.
व्यासाय वासवायैव वसुरूपाय ते नमः । वासुदेवाय विश्वाय वह्निरूपाय ते नमः । हरये केवलायैव वामनाय नमोनमः
Salutations to Vyāsa, to Vāsava, to the one whose form is Vasu; to Vāsudeva, to the universe, to the one whose form is fire; to Hari, to the absolute, to Vāmana, salutations.
नमो नृसिंहदेवाय सत्वपालाय ते नमः
Salutations to the Lord Nṛsiṃha, protector of beings; I bow to you.
नमो गोविंदगोपाय नम एकाक्षराय च । नमः सर्वाक्षरायैव हंसरूपाय ते नमः
Salutations to Govinda, the guardian of cows; salutations to the One-lettered, and to the All-lettered; I bow to you who are in the form of a swan.
त्रितत्त्वाय नमस्तुभ्यं पंचतत्त्वाय ते नमः । पंचविंशतितत्त्वाय तत्त्वाधाराय वै नमः
Salutations to you, who are the three principles; salutations to you, who are the five principles; salutations to you, who are the twenty-five principles, the foundation of all principles.
कृष्णाय कृष्णरूपाय लक्ष्मीनाथाय ते नमः । नमः पद्मपलाशाय आनंदाय पराय च
Salutations to Kṛṣṇa, to the one of Kṛṣṇa's form, to the Lord of Lakṣmī; salutations to you, lotus-leaf-like, to blissful and supreme.
नमो विश्वंभरायैव पापनाशाय वै नमः । नमः पुण्यसुपुण्याय सत्यधर्माय ते नमः
Salutations to Viśvaṃbhara, the sustainer of the universe; salutations to the destroyer of sin; salutations to the one who is both virtue and non-virtue, to you who are truth and righteousness.
नमोनमः शाश्वतअव्ययाय नमोनमः संघ नभोमयाय । श्रीपद्मनाभाय महेश्वराय नमामि ते केशवपादपद्मम्
Repeated salutations to the eternal, imperishable one; repeated salutations to the assembly, the sky-born; to Śrī Padmanābha, to the great Lord, I bow to your lotus feet, Keśava.
