When Kakutstha was seated, Vibhīṣaṇa offered arghya and, with joined palms, spoke to Sugrīva and also to Bharata.
For Rāma, who has come here, there is nothing I can give; this Laṅkā, by Rāma, who destroyed the thorn of the three worlds—
Having slain the wicked one, the city was formerly given to me; this city, these wives, these sons, and I myself—
All this I have given; may it all be inexhaustible for you. Then all the citizens and people dwelling in Laṅkā—
Came, filled with curiosity, to see Rāghava; they said to Vibhīṣaṇa, 'Show us Rāma, O lord.'
Vibhīṣaṇa told the great-souled Rāghava about them; at Rāma's command, Bharata received all their gifts.
The king of the monkeys took the heaps of wealth and jewels; thus Rāma stayed there in the abode of the Rākṣasas for three days.
When the fourth day arrived and Rāma was seated in the assembly, Kekasī spoke to her son: 'My child, I wish to see Rāma.'
When that is seen, great merit is obtained by the best of sages; this is Viṣṇu, the greatly fortunate one, the eternal Lord of four forms.
Sītā is Lakṣmī, O greatly fortunate one; she was not recognized by your elder brother; your father had previously declared this at the gathering of the gods.
Viṣṇu will be born in the lineage of the Raghus as the son of Daśaratha, to bring about the destruction of the ten-headed Rākṣasa.
Vibhīṣaṇa said: 'Do thus, O Mother, accept the ninth boon, and take a vessel anointed with sandal, along with curds, honey, and grains of rice.'
Offer the argha with dūrvā grass, and go to see the prince; let Saramā go before you, along with the other divine maidens.
Go to Rāghava; I will go ahead of you; having spoken thus, the Rākṣasa departed to where Rāma was present.
He drove away all the Dānavas who had assembled to see Rāma, purified the assembly hall, and had Rāma stand facing him.
Vibhīṣaṇa said: 'Hear my request, O Lord, as I speak, O King of men: She who gave birth to Daśagrīva, Kumbhakarṇa, and myself—'
'She is our divine mother and wishes to see your feet; show her compassion and grant her an audience.'
Rāma said: 'Desiring to see my mother, I will go to her, O King of Rākṣasas; you go quickly before me.'
Having promised those words, he rose from his excellent seat, placed his joined palms on his head, and offered reverence.
'I salute you here, you are my mother by righteousness, and also through great austerity and various merits.'
'If a man sees your feet, O goddess, he becomes fulfilled; I am pleased, O mother devoted to her son, having seen these two feet.'
'As Kausalyā is my mother, so too are you to me.' Kekasī said to Rāma: 'Live long, be happy.'
'My husband told me, O hero, that Viṣṇu, assuming human form, has descended in the lineage of Raghu for the welfare of the gods here.'
'To destroy Daśagrīva, to grant prosperity to Vibhīṣaṇa, to bring about the death of Vālin, and to build a bridge over the ocean.'

'Sītā is Lakṣmī, you are Viṣṇu, the gods and the monkeys as well; I will return home, my son—may you attain lasting fame.'
Saramā said: Here in the Ashoka grove, your beloved Jānakī has remained for a full year, attended by me, O lord; she dwells in comfort.
O tormentor of foes, I constantly remember Sītā’s feet; day and night I think, ‘When will I see that goddess?’
For what reason has Jānakī not been brought here by the lord of gods? Alone, you would not shine, nor would a woman without you.
Sītā shines when near you, and you, O tormentor of foes, shine by her side; as she was speaking thus, Bharata asked, ‘Who is this?’
