कर्पूरागरुसंयुक्तकुङ्कुमं साधु साधितम्
Camphor and agarwood mixed with saffron, properly prepared,
शालिपिष्टमयीं कृत्वा पुत्तलीं मधुरान्विताम्
Making a doll from rice flour, endowed with sweetness,
वशं नयति राजानं नारीं वा नरमेव च
One brings a king, a woman, or a man under control.
त्रिसहस्रं जपेन्मन्त्रं कन्यामिष्टां लभेत्ततः
By reciting the mantra three thousand times, one obtains the desired maiden.
लिखितां भस्मना मायां ससाध्यां फलकादिषु
A magical figure written with ashes, along with its accompaniments, upon boards and the like,
भुवनेशीयमाख्याता सहस्रभुजसंभवा
She is called Bhuvaneshī, born from a thousand arms.
ततः कल्पान्तरे विप्र कदाचिन्महिषासुरः
Then, at the end of an age, O Brahmin, sometimes Mahishasura—
ततस्त्पीडिता देवा वैकुण्ठं शरणं ययुः
Then, afflicted, the gods went to Vaikuntha for refuge.
श्रीर्बभूवमुनिश्रेष्ठ मूर्ता व्याप्तजगत्त्रया
O best of sages, Shri became manifest, pervading the three worlds.
अरविन्दवनं प्राप्ता भजतामिष्टदायिनी
She reached the lotus grove, bestower of desired blessings to those who worship.
मृत्युक्रोधेन गुरुणा बिन्दुभूषितमस्तका
With the wrath of death, the teacher, adorned with a jeweled head,
ऋषिर्भृगुर्निवृच्छन्दो देवता श्रीः समीरिता
The sage Bhrigu, with a special meter, invoked the goddess Shri.
ततो ध्यायेज्जगद्वेद्यां श्रियं संपत्तिदायिनीम्
Then one should meditate upon Śrī, the knower of the world, who bestows prosperity.
हिरण्मयामृतघटैः सिच्यमानां सरोजगाम्
She is bathed with golden, nectar-filled vessels and abides upon a lotus.
सिद्धलक्षं जपेन्मन्त्रं तत्सहस्रं हुनेत्तथा
Recite the mantra a hundred thousand times for accomplishment, and perform a thousand oblations likewise.
महालक्ष्म्युदिते पीठे मूर्तिं मूलेन कल्पयेत्
On the seat where Mahālakṣmī has arisen, one should establish the image with the root mantra.
वासुदेवं संकर्षणं प्रद्युम्नमनिरुद्धकम्
Vāsudeva, Saṅkarṣaṇa, Pradyumna, and Aniruddha—
शङ्खचक्रगदापद्मधारिणस्तांश्चतुर्भुजान्
Those four-armed ones, bearing conch, discus, mace, and lotus—
दमकं पुण्डरीकं च गुग्गुलं च कुरण्टकम्
Damaka, Puṇḍarīka, Guggula, and Kuraṇṭaka—
मुक्तामाणिक्यसंकाशौ किञ्चित्स्मितमुखांबुजौ
Resembling pearls and rubies, with faces like slightly smiling lotuses—
विगलद्रत्नवर्षाभ्यां शङ्खभ्या मूर्ध्नि लाञ्छितौ
Marked on the head by conches from which streams of precious gems flow—
वामतः पङ्कजनिधिं प्रियया सहितं यजेत्
To the left, one should worship the lord of lotuses together with his beloved.
निःसरद्रत्नवर्षाभ्यां पद्माभ्यां मूर्ध्नि लाञ्छितौ
Marked on the head by lotuses from which streams of precious gems pour forth—
दलाग्रेषु यजेदेताबलाक्याद्याः समन्ततः
At the tips of the petals, one should worship Balā and the others, all around.
विभीषिका मालिका च शाङ्करी वसुमालिका
Vibhīṣikā, Mālikā, Śāṅkarī, and Vasumālikā—
लोकेशान्पूजयेदन्ते वज्राद्यास्त्राणि तद्बहिः
At the end, one should worship the lords of the worlds, and outside them, the weapons beginning with Vajra.
धनधान्यसमृद्धः स्याच्छ्रियमाप्नोत्यनिन्दिताम्
He becomes abundant in wealth and grain, and attains faultless prosperity.
त्रिलक्षमर्कगं ध्यायन्स भवेत्कमलालयः
Meditating on the sun three hundred thousand times, he becomes the abode of the lotus.
साधको यः स लभते वाञ्छितं धनसंचयम्
The practitioner who does this obtains the desired accumulation of wealth.
होमेनखादिरे वह्नौ तण्डुलेर्मधुरोक्षितैः
By offering oblations in the fire with khadira wood and rice mixed with sweet substances—
