मूलेन व्यापकं देहे न्यस्य देवीं विचिन्तयेत्
With the root, pervading the body, one should meditate on the Goddess.
स्मरास्यामिन्दुमुकुटां वरपाशाङ्कुशाभयाम्
One should meditate on her face, crowned with the moon, holding boon, noose, goad, and gesture of fearlessness.
अष्टद्रव्यैर्दशांशेन ब्रह्मवृक्षसमिद्वरैः
With eight substances, in a tenth part, and with sticks of the Brahma tree.
तन्दुलाज्यतिलं विप्र द्रव्याष्टकमुदाहृतम्
O brāhmaṇa, rice, clarified butter, sesame—these are declared as the eightfold substances.
पद्ममष्टदलं बाह्ये वृत्तं षोडशभिर्द्दलैः
A lotus of eight petals outside, circular, with sixteen petals.
ततः संपूजयेत्पीठं नवशक्तिसमन्वितम्
Then one should worship the seat endowed with nine powers.
नित्या विलासिनी गोग्धीत्यघोरा मङ्गला नव
She is ever playful, radiant, auspicious, and newly beautiful.
तस्यां संपूजयेद्देवीमावाह्यावरणैः क्रमात्
Upon her, one should worship the Goddess, having invoked her with coverings in order.
षट्कोणेषु यजेन्मन्त्री पश्चान्मिथुनदेवताः
In the six corners, the priest should offer sacrifice, then to the paired deities.
गायत्रीं पूजयेन्मत्री ब्रह्माणमपि तादृशम्
The priest should worship Gayatri, and likewise Brahma.
सावित्रीं पीतवसनां यजेद्विणुं च तादृशम्
He should worship Savitri, clad in yellow garments, and similarly Vishnu.
यजेत्सरस्वतीमच्छां रुद्रं तादृशलक्षणम्
He should worship Sarasvati, fair, and Rudra of similar appearance.
कराभ्यां बिभ्रतीं पीतां तुन्दिलं धनदायकम्
He should worship her who holds wealth in her hands, yellow, plump, and bestower of riches.
धनदाङ्कसमारूढां महालक्ष्मीं प्रपूजयेत्
He should worship Mahalakshmi, seated upon the lap of Dhanada.
धारयन्तं जपारक्तं पूजयेद्रक्तभूषणम्
He should worship him who bears a red hibiscus, adorned with red ornaments.
पाणिना रमणाङ्कस्थां रतिं सम्यक्समर्चयेत्
He should properly worship Rati, who is held by the hand on the lap of her beloved.
सृणिपाशधरं कान्तं वराङ्गासृक्कलाङ्गुलिम्
He should worship the handsome one, holding a noose and goad, with splendid limbs and blood-red fingers.
पुष्करे विगलद्रत्नस्फुरच्चषकधारिणम्
He should worship the one in the lotus, adorned with dripping jewels, holding a sparkling cup.
धृतरक्तोत्पलामन्यपाणिना तु ध्वजस्पृशाम्
He should worship her who holds a red lotus in one hand and touches the banner with the other.
कर्णिकायां निधी पूज्यौ षट्कोणस्याथ पार्श्वयोः
In the pericarp, the treasures should be worshipped, and at the sides of the hexagon.
अनङ्गकुसुमा पश्चाद्द्वितीयानङ्गमेखला
Afterwards, Anaṅgakusuma, then Anaṅgamekhalā as the second.
भुवनपाला गगनवेगा षष्ठी चैव ततः परम्
Then Bhuvanapala, Gaganavega, and the sixth, further beyond.
खड्गखेटकधारिण्यः श्यामाः पूज्याश्च मातरः
The mothers, dark, bearing sword and shield, should be worshipped.
प्रथमानङ्गद्वयास्यादनङ्गमदना ततः
First, Anaṅgadvaya, then Anaṅgamadana.
स्यात्सर्वशिशिरानङ्गवेदनानङ्गमेखला
There may be all kinds of cooling pleasures, sensations of love, and girdles of passion.
चामरे चांशुकं पुष्पं बिभ्राणाः करपङ्कजैः
Holding fans, cloths, and flowers in their lotus-like hands,
वज्रादीन्यपि तद्बाह्ये देवीमित्थं प्रपूजयेत्
Even objects like thunderbolts may be placed outside; thus should the goddess be worshipped.
ब्राह्मणान्वशयेच्छीघ्रं पार्थिवान्पद्महोमतः
One quickly brings Brahmins and kings under control, according to the teaching of Padma.
पञ्चविंशतिधा जप्तैर्जलैः स्नानं दिने दिने
By reciting twenty-five times, one should bathe daily with water.
पञ्चविंशतिधा जप्तं जलं प्रातः पिबेन्नरः
A person should drink water recited over twenty-five times in the morning.
