महासरस्वती चास्य देवता परिकीर्तिता
Mahasarasvati is declared as its deity.
ब्रह्मरन्ध्रे न्यसेत्तारं लज्जां भ्रूमध्यगां न्यसेत्
One should place Tara at the crown of the head, and Lajja between the eyebrows.
ततो वाग्देवतां ध्यायेद्वीणापुस्तकधारिणीम्
Then one should meditate upon the goddess of speech, holding a vina and a book.
हंसाधिरूढां भालेन्दुदिव्यालङ्कारशोभिताम्
Seated upon a swan, adorned with the splendor of the moon and divine ornaments.
नागचंपकपुष्पैर्वा जुहुयात्साधकोत्तमः
The best of practitioners should offer naga and champaka flowers.
वर्णाब्जेनासनं दद्यान्मूर्तिं मूलेन कल्पयेत्
One should offer a seat made of the lotus of syllables, and establish the image at its base.
प्राकृता वामतः पूज्या वाङ्मयीसर्वसिद्धिदा
The natural (prākṛtā) goddesses on the left are to be worshipped; the speech-goddesses grant all accomplishments.
प्रज्ञा मेधा श्रुतिः शक्तिः स्मृतिर्वागीश्वरी मतिः
Wisdom, intelligence, revelation, power, memory, the goddess of speech, and understanding—
लोकेशानर्चयेद्भूयस्तदस्त्राणि च तद्बहिः
One should worship the lords of the worlds even more, as well as their weapons and what is outside them.
ब्रह्मचर्यरतः शुद्धः शुद्धदन्तनखा दिकः
One devoted to celibacy, pure, with clean teeth and nails, facing the directions—
कवित्वं लभते धीमान् मासैर्द्वादशभिर्ध्रुवम्
Such a wise person certainly attains poetic skill within twelve months.
महाकविर्भवेन्मन्त्री वत्सरेण न संशयः
He becomes a great poet and counselor within a year, without doubt.
स्थितां देवीं प्रतिदिनं त्रिसहस्रं जपेन्मनुम्
He should recite the mantra to the goddess established (in the maṇḍala) three thousand times each day.
पालाशबिल्वकुसुमैर्जुहुयान्मधुरोक्षितैः
He should offer oblations with palāśa and bilva flowers, moistened with sweet substances.
राजवृक्षसमुद्भूतैः प्रसूनैर्मधुराप्लुतैः
With flowers produced from the royal tree, soaked in sweetness.
अथ प्रवक्ष्ये विप्रेन्द्र सावित्रीं ब्रह्मणः प्रियाम्
Now, O best of Brahmins, I shall declare the Sāvitrī, beloved of Brahmā.
लक्ष्मी माया कामपूर्वा सावित्री ङेसमन्विता
Lakṣmī, Māyā, preceded by desire, Sāvitrī, endowed with 'ṅe'.
ऋषिर्ब्रह्मास्य गायत्री छन्दः प्रोक्तं च देवता
The seer is Brahmā, the meter is Gāyatrī, and the deity has been declared.
हृदन्तिकैर्ब्रह्म विष्णुरुद्रेश्वरसदाशिवैः
Near the heart are Brahmā, Viṣṇu, Rudra, Īśvara, and Sadāśiva.
तप्तकाञ्चनवर्णाभां ज्वलन्तीं ब्रह्मतेजसा
She shines with the luster of molten gold, blazing with the brilliance of Brahman.
ईषद्धास्यप्रसन्नास्यां रत्नभूषणभूषिताम्
Her face is slightly smiling and serene, adorned with jeweled ornaments.
सुखदां मुक्तिदां चैव सर्वसंपत्प्रदां शिवाम्
She bestows happiness and liberation, grants all prosperity, and is auspicious.
ध्यात्वैवं मण्डले विद्वान् त्रिकोणोज्ज्वलकर्णिके
Thus meditating in the maṇḍala, the wise one (should contemplate) her in the triangle with a radiant pericarp.
मूलमन्त्रेण कॢप्तायां मूर्तौं देवीं प्रपूजयेत्
He should worship the goddess in the form established by the root-mantra.
आदित्याद्यास्ततः पूज्या उषादिसहिताः क्रमात्
Then, the deities beginning with the Sun, together with Ushas and others in order, are to be worshipped.
प्रह्लादिनीं प्रभां पश्चान्नित्यां विश्वंभरां पुनः
Afterward, Prahladini, Prabha, Nitya, and again Vishvambhara are to be honored.
कान्तिं दुर्गासरस्वत्यौ विद्यारूपां ततः परम्
Then Kanti, Durga, Sarasvati, and the supreme form of knowledge are to be worshipped.
तमोपहारिणीं सूक्ष्मां विश्वयोनिं जयावहाम्
Then the subtle one who dispels darkness, the source of the universe, the bringer of victory.
ब्राह्म्याद्याः शारणा बाह्ये पूजयेत्प्रोक्तलक्षणाः
The goddesses beginning with Brahmi, possessing the prescribed characteristics, are to be worshipped on the outer side as protectors.
इत्थमावरणैर्देवीः दशभिः परिपूजयेत्
In this way, one should fully worship the ten goddesses in their enclosures.
