सनकादिमुनीन्द्रैस्तु सर्वदेवैरुपासितम्
He is worshipped by the great sages beginning with Sanaka and by all the gods.
प्रातरुद्यत्सहस्रांशुमण्डलोपमकुण्डलम्
In the morning, his earrings resemble the orb of the rising thousand-rayed sun.
अभयं वरदं देवं प्रयच्छन्तं मुदान्वितम्
He is the god who grants fearlessness and boons, bestowing them with joy.
आद्यावरणसंगैः स्याच्चक्रशङ्खगदासिभिः
With the attendants of the first enclosure, he is surrounded by those bearing discus, conch, mace, and sword.
सनकादिकशाक्तेयव्यासनारदशौनकैः
By Sanaka and the others, by Śākteya, Vyāsa, Nārada, and the Śaunakas—
लक्षं जपो दशांशेन घृतेन हवनं स्मृतम्
A hundred thousand recitations, or one-tenth of that offered as ghee in the fire, is prescribed.
श्रीवृक्षमूले देवेशं ध्यायन्वैरोगिणं स्मरन्
Meditating at the root of the sacred tree on the Lord of gods, remembering Him as free from disease—
रोगिणां रोगनिर्मुक्तिं कुर्यान्मन्त्री तु मण्डलात्
The officiant, from within the circle, should grant freedom from disease to the sick.
वस्त्रार्थी गन्धकुसुमैरारोग्याय तिलैर्हुनेत्
One seeking clothing should offer sandalwood and flowers; for health, one should offer sesame seeds.
अष्टोत्तरसहस्रं वै स ज्वरं नाशयेद् ध्रुवम्
Reciting one hundred and eight thousand times will certainly destroy fever.
ध्यात्वा कृष्णं लभेत्कन्यां वाञ्छितां चापि नारद
Meditating on Kṛṣṇa, O Nārada, one attains the desired maiden.
वासुदेवाय वर्मास्त्रे स्वाहान्तो मनुरीरितः
The mantra ending with 'svāhā' is declared as an armor-weapon for Vāsudeva.
वर्म बीजं शिरः शक्तिरन्यत्सर्वं दशार्णवत्
The seed-syllable is for the head, the power for the head, and the rest as in the tenfold manner.
अत्रिर्व्यासाय हृदयं मनुरष्टाक्षरो ऽवतु
Atri assigned the heart to Vyāsa; the eight-syllabled mantra is to protect.
आद्यं बीजं नमः शक्तिदीर्घाढ्यो नादिनाङ्गकम्
The first seed-syllable, with 'namaḥ', is long and strong, beginning with 'na' and with the limbs.
विप्रव्रातवृतं प्रसन्नमनसं पाथोरुहाङ्गद्युतिं पाराशर्य्यमतीव पुण्यचरितं व्यासं स्मरेत्सिद्धये
One should remember Vyāsa, surrounded by brahmins, with a serene mind, shining with lotus-like limbs, the son of Parāśara, of exceedingly virtuous deeds, for success.
पूर्वोक्तपीठे व्यासस्य पूर्वमङ्गानि पूजयेत्
On the previously mentioned seat of Vyāsa, one should first worship his limbs.
सुमंप्तुं कोणभागेषु श्रीशुकं रोमहर्षणम्
In the corners, one should worship Śuka and Romaharṣaṇa.
एवं सिद्धमनुर्मन्त्री कवित्वं शोभनाः प्रजाः
Thus, with the mantra accomplished, the officiant attains poetic inspiration and excellent offspring.
नृसिंहो माधवो दृष्टो लोहितो निगमादिमः
Nṛsiṃha, Mādhava, Dṛṣṭa, Lohita, and Nigamādima are mentioned.
अनन्तपङ्क्तिपक्षीन्द्रा मुनिश्छन्दः सुरा मताः
Anantapaṅkti, Pakṣīndra, the sage Chandas, and the gods are considered.
ज्वलज्वल महामन्त्री स्वाहा हृदयमीरितम्
The great mantra 'Jvala Jvala' with 'svāhā' is declared for the heart.
शिरोमन्त्रो गरुडतः शिखे स्वाहा शिखा मनुः
The head mantra is from Garuḍa; for the topknot, the mantra is 'svāhā', and for the crest, the mantra is 'śikhā'.
प्रभेदययुगं पश्चाद्वित्रासय विमर्दय
Then, recite the pair of mantras for breaking through, for dispelling fear, and for crushing.
उग्ररूपधरान्ते तु सर्वविषहरेति च
At the end, with a fierce form, recite: 'Destroy all poison.'
भस्मीकुरु ततः स्वाहा नेत्रमन्त्रो ऽयमीरितः
Then, recite: 'Reduce to ashes, svāhā'—this is declared as the eye mantra.
शासनान्ते तथा हुं फट् स्वाहास्त्रमनुरीरितः
At the end of the command, recite: 'huṃ phaṭ svāhā'—this is the weapon mantra as declared.
पादे कटौ हृदि मुखे मूर्ध्निं वर्णान्प्रविन्यसेत्
One should arrange the syllables at the feet, the hips, the heart, the mouth, and the head.
चञ्च्वग्रप्रचलद्भुजङ्गमभयं पाण्योर्वरं बिभ्रतं पक्षोच्चारितसामगीतममलं श्रीपक्षिराजं भजे
I worship the glorious king of birds, whose beak's tip holds a moving serpent in check, who grants fearlessness with his hands, whose wings resound with the pure chanting of Sāma hymns.
पूजयेन्मातृकापीठे गरुडं वेदविग्रहम्
One should worship Garuḍa, the embodiment of the Veda, at the seat of the Mothers.
