कृष्णगोविन्दकौ ङेंतौ सप्तार्णः सर्वसिद्धिदः
The syllables 'ṅeṃ' in 'Kṛṣṇa' and 'Govinda' are sevenfold and bestow all accomplishments.
कृष्णगोविन्दकौ ङेंतौ हृदन्तो ऽन्यो नवाक्षरः
The syllables 'ṅeṃ' in 'Kṛṣṇa' and 'Govinda', ending with 'hṛd', form another nine-syllabled mantra.
कामः शार्ङ्गी धरासंस्थो मन्विन्द्वाढ्यश्च मन्मथः
Kāma, Śārṅgī, established on earth, endowed with mind and wealth, is Manmatha.
बालान्ते वपुषे कृष्णायाग्निजायान्तिमो ऽपरः
At the end of 'bāla', for the form of Kṛṣṇa, the syllable born of fire comes last, as another.
ततो ध्यायन्स्वहृदये गोपीजनमनोहरम्
Then, meditating in one's own heart upon him who delights the gopī women—
कालिन्दीपुलिने विहारिणमथो राधैकजीवातुकं वन्दे नन्दकिशोरमिन्दुवदनं स्निग्धांबुदाडंबरम्
I bow to the son of Nanda, whose face is like the moon, whose garment is of dark raincloud hue, who sports on the banks of the Yamunā, and who is the very life of Rādhā alone.
देवकीसुतवर्णान्ते गोविन्दपदमुच्चरेत्
At the end of the name 'Devakī's son', one should utter the word 'Govinda'.
देहि मे तनयं पश्चात्कृष्ण त्वामहमीरयेत्
Afterwards, one should address Kṛṣṇa: 'Grant me a son.'
देवः सुतप्रदः कृष्णः पादैः सर्वेण चाङ्गकम्
The god Kṛṣṇa, bestower of sons, should be remembered with all limbs and feet.
प्रददत्तनयान् द्विजन्मने स्मरणीयो वसुदेवनन्दनः
Having granted sons to the twice-born, the son of Vasudeva should be remembered.
अर्चा पूर्वोदिते पीठे अङ्गलोकेश्वरायुधैः
Worship is to be performed at dawn, on a seat, with the lord of limbs and his weapons.
तारो माया ततः सांतसेंदुष्वान्तश्च सर्ववान्
The syllable 'tāra' is Māyā; then, he is peaceful, like the moon, and possesses all things.
पञ्चब्रह्मात्मकस्यास्य मन्त्रस्य मुनि सत्तमः
O best of sages, this mantra is of the nature of the fivefold Brahman.
परञ्ज्योतिः परं ब्रह्म देवता परिकीर्तितम्
The supreme light, the supreme Brahman, is declared as the deity.
स्वाहेति हृदयं प्रोक्तं सो ऽहं वेति शिरो मतम्
'Svāhā' is said to be the heart; 'so 'ham' is considered the head.
प्रणवो नेत्रमाख्यातमस्त्रं हरिहरेति च
The praṇava is called the eye; the weapon is 'Harihara'.
स सर्वरूपः सर्वाख्यः सो ऽक्षरः परमः स्वराट्
He is of all forms, called by all names, imperishable, supreme, and self-ruling.
पूजाप्रणवपीठे ऽस्य सांगावरणकैर्मता
On the seat of worship and the sacred syllable, he is conceived with all his limbs and coverings.
जायते तत्त्वमस्यादिवाक्योक्तं निर्विकल्पकम्
Thus arises the truth, as declared in statements like 'That Thou Art,' which is without distinction.
ऋषिर्ब्रह्मास्य गायत्री छन्दो गायत्रमीरितम्
Brahma is the seer of this, Gayatri is the meter, and Gayatri is declared as its chant.
कामो बीजं तथायेति शक्तिरस्य ह्युदाहृता
Desire is its seed, and so it is; its power is also thus proclaimed.
पुरुषोत्तममन्त्रोक्तं सर्वं वास्य प्रकीर्तितम्
All that is spoken in the Purushottama mantra is also declared for him.
तर्पणं सर्वकामाप्त्यै प्रोक्तं संमोहिनीसुमैः
The offering for the attainment of all desires is prescribed by the most enchanting sages.
त्रैलोक्यमोहनः शब्दो नमोंऽतो मनुरीरितः
The word that bewilders the three worlds is the mantra ending with 'namah' and 'om.'
श्रीबीजं शक्तिरापेति बीजेनैव षडङ्गकम्
The seed of Shri is its power, and with the seed alone, it has six limbs.
लक्षं जपस्तथा होम आज्येनैव दशांशतः
One hundred thousand recitations and oblations with clarified butter, one-tenth in number, are prescribed.
एवं कृते तु विप्रेन्द्र साक्षात्स्याच्छ्रीधरः स्वयम्
When this is done, O best of Brahmins, Shri Dhara himself appears directly.
मन्त्रो ऽस्य शौनकऋषिर्विराट् छन्दः प्रकीर्तितम्
For this mantra, Shaunaka is the seer, Virat is the meter, as is declared.
विराट् छन्दः समाख्यातं परब्रह्मात्मको हरिः
The Virat meter is named, and Hari is of the nature of the Supreme Brahman.
शङ्खचक्रधरं देवं चतुर्बाहुं किरीटिनम्
He is the god bearing the conch and discus, four-armed, crowned.
