पृष्ठतः सुरभिं चेष्ट्वा केसरेष्वङ्गपूजनम्
Having placed Surabhi behind, perform the worship of the limbs at the base of the mane.
पीठकोणेषु बद्ध्वादिकिङ्कणीं च तथा पुनः
Then, again, fasten a small bell at the corners of the seat.
अग्रतो वनमासादिर्दिक्ष्वष्टसु तथा स्थिताः
In front, place Vanamala and others, and likewise, position them in the eight directions.
नन्दगोपो यशोदा च सगोगोपालगोपिकाः
Nanda the cowherd, Yashoda, along with the cowherds and cowherd maidens.
कुमुदः कुमुदाक्षश्च पुण्डरीको ऽथ वामनः
Kumuda, Kumudaksha, Pundarika, and also Vamana.
विष्वक्सेनश्च संपूज्यः स्वात्मा चार्च्यस्ततः परम्
Vishvaksena is to be worshipped, and then one's own self is to be honored thereafter.
स चिरायुर्निरातङ्को धनधान्यपतिर्भवेत्
He becomes long-lived, free from affliction, and lord of wealth and grain.
नाथाय हृदयान्तो ऽयं वसुवर्णो महामनुः
This great mantra of gold and wealth is for the Lord, residing within the heart.
वर्णद्वन्द्वैश्च सर्वेण पञ्चाङ्गान्यस्य कल्पयेत्
With all the pairs of syllables, let him arrange its five limbs.
किङ्किणीवलयहारनूपुरै रञ्जितं नमत गोपबालकम्
Adorn the cowherd boy with tinkling bells, bracelets, necklaces, and anklets; bow down to him.
ब्रह्मवृक्षसमिद्भिश्च जुहुयात्पायसेन वा
Offer oblations with sticks from the Brahma tree, or with milk-rice.
तत्रावाह्यार्चयेत्कृष्णं मन्त्री वै स्थिरमानसः
There, the priest with steady mind should invoke and worship Krishna.
वासुदेवं बलं दिक्षु प्रद्युम्नमनिरुद्धकम्
Vasudeva, Bala, in the directions, Pradyumna, and Aniruddha.
लोकेशान्सायुधान्बाह्ये एवं सिद्धो भवेन्मनुः
The lords of the worlds, armed, outside; thus the mantra becomes perfected.
श्रीगोविन्दं ततः प्रोच्य गोपीजनपदं ततः
Then, having uttered Shri Govinda, next the realm of the cowherd people.
मुन्यादिकं च पूर्वोक्तं सिद्धगोपालकं स्मरेत्
And the sages and others previously mentioned, let him remember the perfected cowherd boy.
दिव्यक्रीडासु निरतौ रामकृष्णौ स्मरन् जपेत्
Absorbed in divine play, remembering Rama and Krishna, let him recite.
चक्री मुनिस्वरोपेतः सर्गी चैकाक्षरो मनुः
The wielder of the discus, accompanied by the best of sages, and the creative, single-syllabled mantra.
सैव ङेंतो युगार्णः स्यात्कृष्णाय नम इत्यपि
The syllable 'ṅeṃ' is the yugārṇa; also, 'obeisance to Kṛṣṇa' is included.
गोपालायाग्निजायान्तो रसवर्णः प्रकीर्तितः
At the end of 'gopāla', the syllable 'ā' born of fire, is said to be of the rasa class.
कृष्णगोविन्दकौ ङेंतौ सप्तार्णः सर्वसिद्धिदः
The syllables 'ṅeṃ' in 'Kṛṣṇa' and 'Govinda' are sevenfold and bestow all accomplishments.
कृष्णगोविन्दकौ ङेंतौ हृदन्तो ऽन्यो नवाक्षरः
The syllables 'ṅeṃ' in 'Kṛṣṇa' and 'Govinda', ending with 'hṛd', form another nine-syllabled mantra.
कामः शार्ङ्गी धरासंस्थो मन्विन्द्वाढ्यश्च मन्मथः
Kāma, Śārṅgī, established on earth, endowed with mind and wealth, is Manmatha.
बालान्ते वपुषे कृष्णायाग्निजायान्तिमो ऽपरः
At the end of 'bāla', for the form of Kṛṣṇa, the syllable born of fire comes last, as another.
ततो ध्यायन्स्वहृदये गोपीजनमनोहरम्
Then, meditating in one's own heart upon him who delights the gopī women—
कालिन्दीपुलिने विहारिणमथो राधैकजीवातुकं वन्दे नन्दकिशोरमिन्दुवदनं स्निग्धांबुदाडंबरम्
I bow to the son of Nanda, whose face is like the moon, whose garment is of dark raincloud hue, who sports on the banks of the Yamunā, and who is the very life of Rādhā alone.
देवकीसुतवर्णान्ते गोविन्दपदमुच्चरेत्
At the end of the name 'Devakī's son', one should utter the word 'Govinda'.
देहि मे तनयं पश्चात्कृष्ण त्वामहमीरयेत्
Afterwards, one should address Kṛṣṇa: 'Grant me a son.'
देवः सुतप्रदः कृष्णः पादैः सर्वेण चाङ्गकम्
The god Kṛṣṇa, bestower of sons, should be remembered with all limbs and feet.
प्रददत्तनयान् द्विजन्मने स्मरणीयो वसुदेवनन्दनः
Having granted sons to the twice-born, the son of Vasudeva should be remembered.
