रिपुजन्मर्क्षवृक्षोत्थसमिद्भिरयुतं निशि
At night, with ten thousand sticks from the arka or vṛkṣa trees growing in the enemy’s land,
अथवा निंबतैलाक्तैर्हुनेधोभिरक्षजैः
Or else, with oblations anointed with neem oil and offered by those born from the eye,
निशादिष्टदलव्योषकार्पासास्थिकरैर्निशि
At night, with the leaves of iṣṭa, long pepper, cotton, and bone fragments,
न शस्तं मारणं कर्म कुर्य्याञ्चेदयुतं हुनेत्
Killing is not a righteous act; if one must, let him offer ten thousand oblations.
पारिजातहरं कृष्णं ध्यायन् लक्षं जपेन्मनुम्
Meditating on Krishna, the remover of the pārijāta, one should recite the mantra a hundred thousand times.
व्याख्यामुद्राकरं कृष्णं रथस्थं भावयञ्जपेत्
Meditating on Krishna, making the gesture of explanation, seated in a chariot, one should recite the mantra.
पावाशपुष्पैर्मध्वक्तैर्लक्षं विद्याप्तयेहुनेत्
With pāvāśa flowers and honey offerings, one should perform a hundred thousand oblations to obtain knowledge.
विश्वरूपधर प्रोद्यद्भानुकोटिसमप्रभम्
He bears the universal form, shining like ten million rising suns.
अर्काग्निद्योतितास्याङ्घ्रिंप्रङ्कज दिव्यभूषणम्
His face and feet are illuminated by the radiance of the sun and fire, O lotus-born, adorned with divine ornaments.
ध्यात्वा लक्ष जपेन्मन्त्रं रक्षणाय समाहितः
Meditating thus, with a focused mind, one should recite the mantra a hundred thousand times for protection.
दिनमध्योक्तविधिना जपेदष्टोत्तरं शतम्
At midday, according to the prescribed method, one should recite one hundred and eight times.
जातिपुष्पैः क्षत्रियांश्च गोपवेषधरं स्मरन्
With jasmine flowers, remembering Krishna in the guise of a cowherd, one should subdue Kṣatriyas.
वशयेद्वैश्यजातीयान् शूद्रान्नीलोत्पलैः स्मरन्
He should subdue Vaiśyas by remembering Krishna with blue lotuses, and Śūdras likewise.
हुत्वान्वहं सप्तदिनं भस्म भाले च मूर्द्धनि
Having offered oblations for seven days, he should apply the ash to his forehead and head.
तांबूलं कुसुमं वासोंऽजनं चन्दनमेव च
Betel, flowers, garments, collyrium, and sandalwood as well,
सो ऽचिरादेष वशगः सपुत्रपशुबान्धवः
He quickly comes under control, along with his sons, cattle, and relatives.
अपामार्गसमिद्भिस्तु हुत्वा तु वशयेज्जगत्
By offering oblations with apāmārga sticks, one can bring the world under control.
अर्चयेद्वैष्णवश्रेष्ठः सो ऽष्टसिद्धीश्वरो भवेत्
He who worships the foremost of the Vaiṣṇavas becomes a master of the eight perfections.
वसेत्सरस्वती वक्रे गृहे चापि सभासदः
Sarasvati dwells in a curve, and also in the house among the assembly.
भुक्त्वा नानाविधान्भोगानन्ते विष्णुपदं व्रजेत्
Having enjoyed various pleasures, one ultimately attains the abode of Vishnu.
यान्समाराध्य मनुजाः साधयन्तीष्टमात्मनः
Those whom men worship, fulfill their own desired aims.
मारशक्तिरमापूर्वो दशार्णा मनवस्त्रयः
The power of Mara is newly obtained by the three Manus of Dasharna.
कृष्णो गोविन्दनामात्र सर्वकामप्रदो नृणाम्
Krishna, bearing the name Govinda, grants all desires to men.
ततः किरीटमनुनाव्यापकं हि समाचरेत्
Then, with the Kirita Manu, one should perform the all-encompassing rite.
विंशत्यर्णोक्तवत्कुर्यादाद्ये ध्यानार्चनादिकम्
As stated in the twenty Arnas, one should perform meditation, worship, and the like at the beginning.
तृतीये तु हरिं ध्यायेत्समाहितमनाः सुधीः
In the third, the wise person should meditate on Hari with a concentrated mind.
दोर्भ्यां धृतं धमन्तं च वेणुं कृष्णदिवाकरम्
Holding a flute in both hands, Krishna shines like the sun.
जुहुयात्तद्दशांशेन पायसेन ससर्पिषा
One should offer, with one-tenth, rice pudding mixed with ghee.
श्रीशक्तिकामः कृष्णाय गोविन्दायाग्निसुन्दरी
Desiring the power of Shri, to Krishna, to Govinda, to Agni Sundari.
बीजैरमाब्धियुग्मार्णैः षडङ्गानि प्रकल्पयेत्
With seeds, paired lunar marks, one should prepare the six limbs.
