मूलाधारे लिङ्गदेशे जानुनोः पादयोस्तथा
At the root center, in the genital region, on the knees, and likewise on the feet—
ऊर्वोर्जान्वोर्जङ्घयोश्च पादयोर्विन्यसेत्क्रमात्
—on the thighs, knees, shanks, and feet, in order, one should place them.
अनेन न्यासवर्येण साक्षात्कृष्णतनुर्भवेत्
By this supreme placement, the very form of Krishna becomes manifest.
ततो दशाङ्गपञ्चाङ्गौ न्यासवर्यौं न्यसे क्रमात्
Then, the ten-limbed and five-limbed supreme placements should be performed in order.
कट्यां पृष्ठे तथा मूर्ध्नि विन्यसेद्वैष्णवोत्तमः
The foremost devotee of Vishnu should place (the nyāsa) on the hip, the back, and likewise on the head.
अन्यो ऽप्यष्टादशार्णोक्तः कर्तव्यो न्याससंचयः
Another collection of nyāsa, as described in the eighteen-limbed (procedure), should also be performed.
वेणुबिल्वादिमुद्रांश्च दर्शयेत्साधकोत्तमः
The best practitioner should display the gestures of the flute, the bilva leaf, and others.
अनङ्गुष्ठाश्च ऋजवः करशाखा भवन्ति चेत्
If the fingers, except the thumb, are straight, they become the branches of the hand.
प्रसारितकराङ्गुल्योर्वर्ममुद्रेयमीरिता
When the fingers are spread out, this is said to be the gesture of armor (varmamudrā).
विष्वग्विमुक्ता कथितास्त्रमुद्रा यत्राक्षिणी तर्जनिमध्यमे च
The missile gesture (astramudrā) is described as when the index and middle fingers are at the eyes, released in all directions.
दक्षिणाङ्गुष्टसंसक्ता तत्कनिष्ठा प्रसारिता
The right thumb touches the little finger, and that little finger is extended.
नोच्यन्ते तत्र सिद्धत्वान्मालाश्रीवत्सकौस्तुभाः
There, the garlands, Śrīvatsa, and Kaustubha are not mentioned, because they are already perfected.
गाढं बद्ध्वा स्वकीये हृदयसरसिजे स्थापयेत्कामबीजं प्रोच्चार्यैषा तु गोप्या सकलसुखकरी विल्वमुद्रा मुनीन्द्रैः
Binding firmly, one should place the seed of desire in one's own lotus of the heart, reciting it; this vilva gesture, kept secret, brings all happiness, as declared by the great sages.
मुद्राया ज्ञान मात्रेण सर्वं नाशमुपैष्यति
By merely knowing the gesture, all obstacles will be destroyed.
सर्वेष्वेकः क्रमः प्रोक्तो दशार्णाष्टादशार्णयोः
One sequence is prescribed for all, both for the ten-limbed and eighteen-limbed (procedures).
उद्दण्डबाहुदोर्दंहधृतगोवर्द्धनाचलम्
Meditate on Krishna holding up Govardhana mountain with his raised, outstretched arms.
ध्यायन्कृष्णं जपेन्मन्त्रं व्रजेच्छत्रं विना सुधीः
Meditating on Krishna, one should recite the mantra; the wise should proceed without an umbrella.
मोघमेधौघव्राताद्गगतेन्द्रं तं स्मरन्हुनेत्
Remembering him, one should perform oblation to that lord of the sky, to counteract the multitude of futile sacrifices.
क्रीडन्तमर्कजातीरे मज्जनस्नापनादिभिः
Meditate on him playing on the bank of the Yamuna, engaged in bathing and other playful acts.
ध्यात्वायुतं पयः सिक्तैर्हुनेद्वा नीरतर्पणैः
Having meditated, one should offer oblations with ten thousand libations of milk, or with water libations.
सदाहमोहैरार्तस्य विस्फोटकज्वरादिभिः
For one afflicted with constant delusion, distress, eruptions, fever, and the like—
अथवा गरुडारूढं प्रद्युम्नबलसंयुतम्
Or else, meditate on him mounted on Garuda, endowed with the strength of Pradyumna.
ध्यात्वा मूर्ध्नि जपेन्मन्त्रं ज्वरमुक्तो भवेज्ज्वरी
Meditating, one should recite the mantra upon the crown of the head; the afflicted person becomes free from fever.
जुहुयादमृताखण्डैरयुतं ज्वरशान्तये
One should offer ten thousand oblations with pieces of nectar for the pacification of fever.
ध्यात्वा जपेत्स्पृशन्नार्तं पाणिभ्यां ज्वरशान्तये
Meditating, one should recite while touching the suffering person with both hands for the pacification of fever.
यथोक्तैरमृताखण्डैरपमृत्युनिवृत्तये
With the aforementioned pieces of nectar, one should act for the removal of untimely death.
सुतं ध्यात्वा जपेल्लक्षं पुत्रपौत्रादिवृद्धये
Meditating on a son, one should recite the mantra a hundred thousand times for the increase of sons, grandsons, and others.
तत्काष्ठैरेधिते वह्नौ सुतान्दीर्घायुषो लभेत्
By offering sons into the fire kindled with that wood, one obtains sons of long life.
प्रातर्ज्जप्त्वायुतं नारीमभिषिञ्चेद्दिषड्दिनम्
Reciting the mantra ten thousand times in the morning, one should sprinkle a woman for six days.
प्रातर्वाचंयमाश्वत्थदलसंपुटकं जलम्
In the morning, after washing, one should use water contained in a cup made of banyan leaves.
