द्रव्यषोडशकं ह्येतत्कथितं पद्मजादिभिः
—these sixteen substances have been described by Padma and others.
चतुःसप्ततिवारं यः प्रातरेवं प्रतर्पयेत्
Whoever offers in this way, seventy-four times in the morning—
धारोष्णपक्कपयसा नवनीतं दधीनि च
—with hot, freshly-cooked milk, fresh butter, and curds—
पूजयेन्नवभिर्द्रव्यैः प्रत्येकं रविसंख्यया
—should worship with nine substances, each in the number of the sun.
यः कुर्याद्वैष्णवश्रेष्ठः पूर्वोक्तं फलमाप्नुयात्
Whoever, being the best of Vaishnavas, does this, attains the previously stated result.
ससितोपलधारोष्णदुग्धबुद्ध्या जलेन वै
With the thought of sugar, rock candy, and hot milk, and also with water—
धनवस्त्राणि भोज्यं च परिवारगणैः सह
Wealth, garments, and food, together with groups of attendants,
तर्पणेनैव कार्याणि साधयेदखिलान्यपि
All these objectives should be accomplished solely through offerings.
श्रीपुष्पैर्जुहुयान्मन्त्री श्रियमिच्छन्निनिन्दिताम्
Desiring unblemished prosperity, the minister should offer with auspicious flowers of fortune.
वन्यपुष्पैर्द्विजान् जातीपुष्पैश्च पृथिवीपतीन्
With wild flowers for brahmins, and with jasmine flowers for kings of the earth.
वशयेल्लवणैः सर्वानंबुजैर्युवतीजनम्
He should bring all under control with salt, and young women with lotuses.
गवां शान्तिं करोत्याशु गोपालो गोकुलेश्वरः
The cowherd, lord of the cow-pen, quickly brings peace to the cows.
ध्यात्वा प्रतर्पयेन्मन्त्री दुग्धबुद्ध्या शुभैर्जलैः
Meditating, the minister should offer pure waters as if they were milk.
ब्रह्मवृक्षसमिद्भिर्वा कुशैर्वा तिलतन्दुलैः
Or with sacred sticks from the Brahma tree, or with kuśa grass, or with sesame and rice grains.
वशये द्ब्राह्मणांश्चाथ राजवृक्षसमुद्भवैः
He should bring brahmins under control with products of the royal trees.
पाटलोत्थैश्च कुसुमैर्वशयेदन्तिमान्सुधीः
And the wise man should bring the last group under control with flowers from the pāṭala tree.
हुत्वायुतं त्रिमध्वाक्तैर्वशयेत्तद्वराङ्गनाः
By offering ten thousand times with a mixture of honey, ghee, and sugar, he brings those excellent women under control.
वरस्त्रीर्वशयेत्प्राज्ञः सम्यग्धृत्वा दिनाष्टकम्
The wise man should properly bring noble women under control, holding the rite for eight days.
प्रत्यहं जुह्वतो मासात्सुरेशो ऽपि वशीभवेत्
By offering daily for a month, even the lord of the gods may be brought under control.
स्मरेत्कृष्णं जपेद्रात्रौ सहस्रं खेन्दूहात्सुधीः
He should remember Krishna and recite at night a thousand times, with devotion and wisdom.
बहुना किमिहोक्तेन मन्त्रो ऽयं सर्ववश्यकृत्
What more need be said? This mantra brings all under control.
ध्यायेत्स्वहृत्सरसिजे देवकीनन्दनं विभुम्
He should meditate in his heart's lotus on Devakī's mighty son.
वन्दे वेद्यं मुनीन्द्रैः कणिकमुनिलसद्दिव्यभूषाभिरामं दिव्याङ्गालेपभासं सकलभयहरं पीतवस्त्रं नुरारिम्
I bow to him who is known by the great sages, charming with divine ornaments shining with golden radiance, whose divine body dispels all fear, who wears yellow garments, the enemy of evil.
मन्वोरेकं द्वितारान्तरितमथः हुनेदर्कसाहस्रमिध्मैः क्षीरिद्रूत्थर्यथोक्तैः समधुघृतसितेनाथवा पायसेन
He should offer one (oblation) for Manu, separated by two stars, with a thousand sticks of arka wood, with clarified butter as prescribed, or with milk, or with a mixture of honey, ghee, and sugar, or with rice pudding.
ध्यायन्ननुदिनं मन्त्री त्रिसहस्रं जपेन्मनुम्
Meditating daily, the practitioner should recite the mantra three thousand times.
कृत्वा पूर्वोक्तविधिना मन्त्री तद्गतमानसः
Having performed as previously described, with the mind absorbed in that, the practitioner—
समुत्तीर्य भवांभोधिं स याति परमं पदम्
Crossing over the ocean of worldly existence, attains the supreme state.
शक्तिः श्रीपूर्विकाणिद्विनवलिपिमनोरक्षराणिच्छदानां मध्ये वर्णान्दशान्तो दशलिपिमनुवर्यस्य वैकैकशो ऽब्जम्
Among the syllables of the mantra, preceded by Śrī and Śakti, with two, nine, and three-lettered forms, in the midst of the letters, each one is placed on a lotus for the ten-lettered mantra and the ten-lettered script.
पट्टे हिरण्यरचिते गुलिकीकृतं तद्गोपालयन्त्रमखिलार्थदमेतदुक्तम्
On a cloth adorned with gold, made into a small ball, this protective device is said to grant all desires.
रक्षायशः सुतमहीधनधान्यलक्ष्मीसौभाग्यलिप्सुभिरजस्रमनर्घ्यवीर्यम्
For protection, fame, sons, land, wealth, grain, prosperity, and those desiring good fortune, it is always of incomparable power.
