रजोभिर्धूसरैर्मन्दमारुतैः शिशिरीकृते
Cooled by gentle breezes, dusted with particles of earth.
पीयूषांशुकरैर्विशालितहरित्प्रान्ते स्मरोद्दीपने कालिन्दीपुलिनाङ्गणे स्मितमुखं वेणुं रणन्तं मुहुः
On the sandy courtyard of the Yamunā, at the edge of the wide green forest, with rays of nectarous moonlight kindling love, remembering his smiling face, repeatedly playing the flute.
मायूरच्छदबद्धमौलिविलसद्धंमिल्लमालं चलं दीप्यत्कुण्डलरत्नरश्मिविलसद्गण्डद्वयोद्बासितम्
With a crown adorned with peacock feathers, shining with a garland of forest flowers, cheeks illumined by the rays of sparkling jeweled earrings.
अन्योन्यं विनिबद्धगोपदयितादोर्वल्लिवीतं लसद्रासक्रीडनलोलुपं मनसिजाक्रान्तं मुकुन्दं भवेत्
Bound arm-in-arm with beloved cowherd maidens, delighting in the sport of the rāsa dance, overcome by the god of love—such is Mukunda.
भ्रममाणममूभिरुदारमणिस्फुटमण्डनसिंजितचारुतनुम्
Moving among them, his beautiful form resounding with the ornaments of splendid jewels.
मणिशङ्कुगमप्यमुना वपुषा बहुधा विहितस्वकदिव्यतनुम्
With a body manifest in many divine forms, shining with jeweled conch and other ornaments.
श्रीकामः सस्वराद्यानि कलाब्जैर्वैष्णवोत्तमः
Desiring Śrī, with melodious music and lotuses of art, the foremost of Vaiṣṇavas.
इन्द्राद्यानपि वज्रादीन्पूजयेत्तदनन्तरम्
After that, one should worship Indra and others, along with their thunderbolts and so forth.
आक्रम्य पद्भ्यामितरेतरैस्तु हस्तैर्भ्रमो ऽयं खलु रासगोष्ठी
This circling dance, indeed, is the rāsa assembly, where each seizes another with their feet and hands.
नैवेद्यमर्चयित्वा तु चषकैर्नृपसंख्यकैः
After offering the food, with cups equal to the number of kings—
विधाय पूर्ववच्छेषं सहस्रं प्रजपेन्मनुम्
—having performed the remainder as before, one should recite the mantra a thousand times.
एवं यः पूजयेत्कृष्णं स सस्मृद्धेः पदं भवेत्
Whoever worships Krishna in this way attains the abode of prosperity.
भुक्त्वेह विविधान्भोगानन्ते विष्णुपदं व्रजेत्
After enjoying various pleasures here, he finally reaches the abode of Vishnu.
अष्टाविंशतिवारं वा त्रिकालं पूजयेत्सुधीः
A wise person should worship three times daily, or twenty-eight times.
प्रातर्द्दध्ना गुडाक्तेन मध्याह्ने पयसा पुनः
In the morning with curd mixed with jaggery, and again at midday with milk—
ससितोपलमिश्रेण पयसा वैष्णवोत्तमः
—with milk mixed with sugar and rock candy, the best of Vaishnavas (should worship).
द्वितीयान्तेषु तु पुनः पूजाशेषं समापयेत्
At the end of the second (offering), he should again complete the remainder of the worship.
तत्तृत्पस्तमथोद्वास्य तन्मयः प्रजपेन्मनुम्
Then, after removing the offerings, he should recite the mantra, absorbed in that essence.
तानि प्रोक्तविधानानामाश्रित्यान्यतमं भजेत्
He should follow any one of these prescribed procedures.
दधीनि कदली मोचा चिञ्चा रजस्वला तथा
Curds, bananas, plantain flowers, tamarind, and those in menstruation—
द्रव्यषोडशकं ह्येतत्कथितं पद्मजादिभिः
—these sixteen substances have been described by Padma and others.
चतुःसप्ततिवारं यः प्रातरेवं प्रतर्पयेत्
Whoever offers in this way, seventy-four times in the morning—
धारोष्णपक्कपयसा नवनीतं दधीनि च
—with hot, freshly-cooked milk, fresh butter, and curds—
पूजयेन्नवभिर्द्रव्यैः प्रत्येकं रविसंख्यया
—should worship with nine substances, each in the number of the sun.
यः कुर्याद्वैष्णवश्रेष्ठः पूर्वोक्तं फलमाप्नुयात्
Whoever, being the best of Vaishnavas, does this, attains the previously stated result.
ससितोपलधारोष्णदुग्धबुद्ध्या जलेन वै
With the thought of sugar, rock candy, and hot milk, and also with water—
धनवस्त्राणि भोज्यं च परिवारगणैः सह
Wealth, garments, and food, together with groups of attendants,
तर्पणेनैव कार्याणि साधयेदखिलान्यपि
All these objectives should be accomplished solely through offerings.
श्रीपुष्पैर्जुहुयान्मन्त्री श्रियमिच्छन्निनिन्दिताम्
Desiring unblemished prosperity, the minister should offer with auspicious flowers of fortune.
वन्यपुष्पैर्द्विजान् जातीपुष्पैश्च पृथिवीपतीन्
With wild flowers for brahmins, and with jasmine flowers for kings of the earth.
