There is no one equal to Hanuman in the entire sphere of the universe.
O lord of all monkeys, your feet are the unmanifest essence of all the Upanishads.
In the lotus of the great yogis’ hearts, the supreme, tranquil Hanuman abides.
Even though I have worshipped you with devotion, O Lord, you have not revealed your feet to me.
Both Hari and Shambhu are dear to me, yet I do not possess such fortune.
There is no one else as dear to me as you, O Hari, anywhere.
Then Gautama, having bowed down to the great god,
This midday has passed, and it is the time for everyone to eat.
Entering Gautama’s house, he began preparations for the meal.
With many necklaces, then with neck-ornaments, sacred thread, and upper garment,
With anointment of fivefold fragrant substances, with armlets, bracelets, and rings,
He seated Hari himself before him on a splendid seat.
Gautama, with devotion, gave food placed in a golden vessel.
He gave both well-cooked and freshly prepared food, all properly arranged.
A hundred times a hundred sweet roots and vegetables were prepared.
Sugar and the like, as well as mango, myrobalan, date, and pomegranate.
Priyāla, kṛañja, jambu fruit, and also vikaṅkata fruit.
Having given these nourishing foods, the sage said, 'Eat, O Brahmins.'
Gautama himself took them and offered them to Śiva and Viṣṇu.
See, O Viṣṇu, how Hanuman, that monkey, eats.
Even as the sages watched, Maheśvara cast a glance among them.
By your command, O Lord, only you may eat what is left by you.
Having informed me of everything, he should deposit it all into the well.
In the self-manifested liṅga of Bāṇa, set in the heart of the moonstone.
Now is the time for enjoyment; the aversion to that comes from another story.
Then that sage Gautama performed the water purification.
With water from the pond, purified by rubbing with seeds, he filled the pitchers.
Again, with water kept overnight, purified in a pot, he placed that moonstone, then added bakula and likewise pāṭala.
Then, making it very soft, he wrapped the mouth of the strainer with a fine piece of cloth.
Where there was a gentle breeze, he fanned it with a fine fan.
