सम्यग्दशदिशो व्याप्य पालयन्तु च मां सदा
May they, having pervaded all ten directions properly, always protect me.
शेषाद्या मूर्तयो ऽष्टौ च विक्रमेणैव भास्वराः
The eight forms beginning with Śeṣa, radiant through their prowess.
मम सौख्यमसंबाधमारोग्यमपराजयः
May unobstructed happiness, health, and invincibility be mine.
वाञ्छाप्तिरतिकल्याणमवैषम्यमनामयम्
Fulfillment of desires, supreme welfare, absence of inequality, freedom from affliction.
भयहानिर्यशः कान्तिर्विद्या ऋद्धिर्महाश्रियः
Removal of fear, fame, beauty, knowledge, prosperity, and great fortune.
दीर्घायुष्यं मनोहर्षः सौकुमार्यमभीप्सितम्
Long life, delight of mind, desired delicacy.
संतु मे कार्तवीर्य्यस्य हैहयेन्द्रस्य कीर्तनात्
May these be mine through the praise of Kārtavīrya, lord of the Haihayas.
सर्वपापप्रशमनं सर्वोपद्रवनाशनम्
Removal of all sins, destruction of all calamities.
विजयार्थप्रदं नॄणां सर्वसंपत्प्रदं शुभम्
It bestows victory upon men, grants all prosperity, and is auspicious.
चौरैर्हृतं यदा पश्येत्पश्वादिधनमात्मनः
When one sees that his wealth, such as cattle and the like, has been stolen by thieves,
सप्तरात्रेण लभते नष्टद्रव्यं न संशयः
He recovers his lost property within seven nights, without doubt.
देवासुरनिभं चापि परचक्रं निवारयेत्
He can also repel an enemy force, even if it resembles the gods or demons.
विजयो जायते तस्य न कदाचित्पराजयः
Victory is assured for him; defeat never occurs.
स रोगमृत्युवेतालभूतप्रेतैर्न बाध्यते
He is not afflicted by disease, death, ghosts, spirits, or the dead.
त्रिदिनान्निगडादूद्ध्वो मुच्यते नात्र संशयः
He is freed from shackles within three days, of this there is no doubt.
असाध्यमपि सप्ताहात्साधयेन्मन्त्रवित्तमः
Even what is impossible can be accomplished in seven days by one skilled in mantras.
न दुष्टचौरव्याघ्राद्यैर्भयं स्यात्परिपन्थिभिः
There is no fear from wicked thieves, tigers, or other highwaymen.
न चासौ विषकृत्यादिरोगस्फोटैः प्रबाध्यते
Nor is he afflicted by poison, sorcery, disease, or eruptions.
सहस्रबाहुः शत्रुघ्नो रक्तवासा धनुर्धरः
He is the thousand-armed destroyer of enemies, clad in red, bearing a bow.
द्वादशैतानि नामानि कार्तवीर्यस्य यः पठेत्
Whoever recites these twelve names of Kārtavīrya,
यः सेवते सदा विप्र श्रीमञ्चक्रावतारकम्
Whoever always worships, O brāhmaṇa, the glorious Cakrāvatāraka,
मयैतत्कवचं विप्र दत्तात्रेयान्मुनीश्वरात्
This armor, O brāhmaṇa, I received from the sage Dattātreya.
श्रुतं तुभ्यं निगदितं धारयस्वाखिलेष्टदम्
It has been heard and spoken to you; bear it, for it grants all desires.
मोहविध्वंसनं जैत्रं मारुतेः कवचं शृणु
Hear the armor of Māruti, which destroys delusion and brings victory.
भूतप्रेतारिजं दुःखं नाशमेति न संशयः
Suffering caused by ghosts and spirits is destroyed, without doubt.
आनन्दवनिकासंस्थं ध्यायन्तं स्वात्मनः पदम्
Meditating on the abode of his own self, established in the grove of bliss.
नमस्कृत्य तदादिष्टमासनं स्थितवान् पुरः
Having bowed, he took the seat indicated to him and remained standing before them.
पृष्टं प्रोवाच राजेन्द्रः श्रीरामः स्वयमादरात्
When questioned, King Śrī Rāma himself spoke with respect.
मह्यं तत्ते प्रवक्ष्यामि न प्रकाश्यं हि कुत्रचित्
I will tell you this, but it must not be revealed anywhere.
श्रीरामेणाञ्जनासूनासूनोर्भुक्तिमुक्तिप्रदायकम्
By Śrī Rāma, son of Aṅjanā, this grants both enjoyment and liberation.
