परिरक्षतु मे दुःखध्वान्तसम्भेदभास्करः
May the one who is the sun that dispels the darkness of suffering thoroughly protect me.
महायोगीश्वरः पातु सर्वतो मम पद्मभृत्
May the great Lord of Yogis, the lotus-bearer, protect me on all sides.
प्रधानदेवतारूपाः पृथग्रथवरे स्थिताः
The principal deities, each established in their respective places, take form.
शुक्लमाल्यानुवसनाः सुलिप्ततिलकोज्ज्वलाः
They are adorned with white garlands and garments, and their bright foreheads are beautifully marked.
स्वस्वदिक्षु स्थिताः पान्तु मामिन्द्राद्या महाबलाः
May Indra and the other mighty ones, stationed in their own directions, protect me.
सर्वतो मां सदा पातुं सर्वशक्तिसमन्विताः
Endowed with all powers, may they always protect me from every side.
तेजोरूपाः स्थिताः पातुं वाञ्छासुखनद्रुमाः
May those who are forms of radiance, standing as wish-fulfilling trees of happiness, protect me.
व्यापकत्वेन पान्त्वस्मानापादतलमस्तकम्
By their all-pervasiveness, may they protect us from the soles of our feet to the crown of our heads.
सुमुखो मे मुखं पातु कर्णौं व्याप्तजगत्त्रयः
May Sumukha protect my mouth, and may He who pervades the three worlds protect my ears.
नयनं पुंमडरीकाक्षगो नासिकां मे गुणाकरः
May He whose eyes are like blue lotuses protect my eyes, and may the Abode of Virtues protect my nose.
सर्वशास्त्रकलाधारी जिह्वां चिबुकमव्ययः
May the Bearer of all sciences and arts protect my tongue, and the Imperishable One protect my chin.
भुजौ दशास्यदर्पघ्नो हृदयं मे महाबलः
May He who destroyed the pride of the ten-headed one protect my arms, and may the Mighty One protect my heart.
करौ सर्वार्थदः पातुकराग्राणि जगत्प्रियः
May the Giver of all objects protect my hands, and may the Beloved of the world protect the tips of my fingers.
वीरशूरस्तु मे नाभिं पार्श्वौ मे सर्वदुष्टहा
May the heroic and valiant One protect my navel, and may the Destroyer of all wicked ones protect my sides.
ऊरू माहिष्मतीनाथो जानुनी वल्लभो भुवः
May the Lord of Māhiṣmatī protect my thighs, and the Beloved of the earth protect my knees.
पातु सर्वायुधधरः सर्वाङ्गं सर्वमर्मसु
May He who bears all weapons protect all my limbs and all my vital joints.
प्राणादिदशजीवेशान्सर्वशिष्टेष्टदो ऽवतु
May the Lord of the ten life-forces, from breath onward, and the Giver of all desired things, protect me.
अनुक्तमपि यत्स्थान शरीरान्तर्बहिश्च यत्
May He protect every place, spoken or unspoken, both within and outside the body.
वज्रात्सारतरं चेदं शरीरं कवचावृतम्
This body, covered by the armor, becomes harder than the thunderbolt.
बद्धेदं कवचं दिव्यमभेद्यं हैहयेशितुः
Let this divine, impenetrable armor of the Lord of the Haihayas be bound.
राजमार्गे महादुर्गे मार्गे चौरा दिसंकुले
On the royal road, in great fortresses, on paths crowded with thieves and in all directions—
संग्रामे शस्त्रसंघाते सिंहव्याघ्रनिषेविते
In battle, amidst a clash of weapons, and in places frequented by lions and tigers—
विवादे विपुलावर्ते समुद्रे च नदीतटे
In disputes, in great whirlpools, in the ocean, and on riverbanks—
सर्वस्वहरणे प्राप्ते प्राप्ते प्राणस्य संकटे
When all is being taken away, or when life itself is in danger—
मारीदुःस्वप्नपीडासु क्लिष्टे विश्वासघातके
In the afflictions of evil dreams, in suffering, and in betrayal by those trusted—
आधिव्याधिभये विघ्नज्वालोपद्रवके ऽपि च
Even in the fear of distress, disease, obstacles, burning, and calamity—
आङ्गुतुकामानखिलानस्मद्वसुविलुंपकान्
All those who desired our wealth and plundered our riches,
स्वकरोद्धृतसाहस्रपाशबद्धान्सुदुर्जयान्
Bound by a thousand nooses, drawn forth by his own hand, hard to overcome,
सृणिसाहस्रनिर्भिन्नान्सहस्रशरखण्डितान्
Pierced by a thousand spears, shattered by a thousand arrows,
खड्ग साहस्रदलितान्सहस्रमुशलार्दितान्
Crushed by a thousand swords, struck down by a thousand maces,
