प्रायोगा बहवस्तत्र संक्षेपाद्गदिता मया

तस्यासाध्यं न वै किञ्चिद्विद्यते भुवनत्रये
For him, nothing is unattainable in the three worlds.
अविनीताय शिष्याय पिशुनाय कदाचन
Never to an undisciplined or slanderous student should this be taught.
बहुना किमिहोक्तेन सर्वं दद्यात्कपीश्वरः
What more need be said? The Lord of Monkeys grants all.
तारो नमो हनुमते जाठरत्रयमीरयेत्
One should utter the mantra 'Tāra, obeisance to Hanuman,' and move the three intestines.
आत्मतत्त्वं ततः पश्चात्प्रकाशययुगं ततः
Then, one should realize the true nature of the self, and thereafter the pair of illuminations.
वसिष्ठो ऽस्य मुनिश्छन्दो ऽनुष्टुप् च देवताः पुनः
Vasiṣṭha is the sage for this; the meter is Anuṣṭubh, and the deities are again invoked.
मन्त्रार्णैश्च षडङ्गानि कृत्वा ध्यायेत्कपीश्वरम्
Having established the six limbs with the syllables of the mantra, one should meditate upon the Lord of the monkeys.
अध्यात्मचित्तमासीनं कदलीवनमध्यगम्
Seated with a mind absorbed in spiritual contemplation, in the midst of a grove of banana trees.
ध्यात्वैवं प्रजपेल्लक्षं दशांशं जुहुयात्तिलैः
Having meditated thus, one should recite the mantra a hundred thousand times and offer one-tenth of that in sesame oblations.
जप्तो ऽयं मदनक्षोभं नाशयत्येव निश्चितम्
This recitation certainly destroys the agitation of passion, without doubt.
अथ मन्त्रातरं वाक्ष्ये भूतविद्रावणं परम्
Now I will declare another mantra, supreme for driving away spirits.
पवनो वनपुत्रान्ते आवेशिद्वयमीरयेत्
The wind, at the edge of the forest, should be invoked to move in two directions.
ब्रह्मा मुनिः स्याद्गायत्री छन्दो ऽत्र देवता पुनः
Brahmā is the sage for this; the meter is Gāyatrī, and the deities are again invoked.
षड्दीर्घाढ्येन बीजेन षडङ्गानि समाचरेत्
With the seed syllable rich in six long vowels, one should perform the six limbs.
पारिजातद्रुमूलस्थं चिन्तयेत्साधकोत्तमः
The foremost practitioner should contemplate at the root of the Pārijāta tree.
त्रिमध्वक्तैर्यञ्जत्पीठे पूर्वोक्तेपूर्ववत्सुधीः
With three offerings of honey, worship on the seat as previously described, just as before, with a pure mind.
आक्रन्दंस्तं विमुच्याथ ग्रहः शीघ्रं पलायते
Having released the afflicted one, the possessing spirit quickly flees.
परीक्षिताय शिष्याय देया वा निजसूनवे
It should be given to Parīkṣit, to a disciple, or to one's own son.
विशेषतः समाराध्य यथोक्तं फलमाप्नुयात्
By especially worshipping as prescribed, one attains the stated result.
जायन्ते ऽथ प्रलीयन्ते स्वस्वकर्मानुसारतः
They are born and then perish, each according to their own actions.
समुल्लङ्घ्य नृपानन्यानेतन्मे नुद संशयम्
Having surpassed other kings, dispel this doubt of mine.
यथा सेव्यत्वमापन्नः कार्तवीर्यार्जुनो भुवि
How Kārtavīrya Arjuna attained the status of being served upon earth.
दत्तात्रेयं समाराध्य लब्धवांस्तेज उत्तमम्
By worshipping Dattātreya, he obtained the highest brilliance.
शत्रूञ्जयति संग्रामे नष्टं प्राप्नोति सत्वरम्
He conquers enemies in battle and swiftly recovers what is lost.
तुभ्यं प्रकाशयिष्ये ऽहं सर्वसिद्धिप्रदायकम्
I will reveal to you that which grants all accomplishments.
वेधाधरेन्दुशान्त्याढ्यो निद्रयाशाग्नि बिन्दुयुक्
Endowed with the tranquility of Brahma, moon, and sleep, joined with the fire of desire and the point.
रेफोवा द्यासनो ऽनन्तो वह्निजौ कर्णसंस्थितौ
With the sound 'repha' or 'va', the seat is infinite; fire-born, situated at the ears.
ऊनर्विशतिवर्णो ऽयं तारादिर्नखवर्णकः
This consists of less than twenty syllables, beginning with 'tāra', and is marked by nail-like letters.
कार्तवीर्यार्जुनो देवो बीजशक्तिर्ध्रुवश्च हृत्
Kārtavīrya Arjuna is divine, the seed-power is fixed in the heart.
