नित्ये पञ्चपलं प्रोक्तमथवा मानसी रुचिः
For daily worship, five pala is prescribed, or otherwise, as desired in the mind.
शिवालये ऽथवा कुर्यान्नित्यनैमित्तिके स्थले
One may perform it in a temple of Śiva or at a place for daily or occasional rites.
विशेषो ऽस्त्यत्र यः कश्चिन्मारुते रुच्यते मया

विषव्याधिभये घोरे हनुमत्सन्निधौ स्मृतम्
In the presence of Hanuman, it is remembered in the case of terrible fear from poison or disease.
चतुष्पथे व्याधिनष्टौ दुष्टदृष्टौ तथैव च
At a crossroads, in the case of disease, loss, or evil eye, likewise.
अश्वत्थवटमूले तु सर्वकार्यप्रसिद्धये
At the root of an aśvattha or vaṭa tree, for the accomplishment of all undertakings.
द्यूते दृष्टिस्तंभने च विद्वेषे मारणे तथा
In gambling, for arresting sight, in enmity, and likewise in destruction.
विषे व्याधौ ज्वरे भूतग्रहे क्रृत्याविमोचने
In cases of poison, disease, fever, possession by spirits, and release from witchcraft.
क्रूरसत्त्वेषु सर्वेषु शश्वदून्धविमोक्षणे
Among all cruel beings, for constant release from bondage.
आगमे निर्गमे चैव राजद्वारे प्रकीर्तितम्
At the time of entering or leaving, it is prescribed at the king’s gate.
दीपदानं हनुमतो नात्र कार्या विचारणा
There should be no hesitation in offering a lamp to Hanuman.
लघुमानं स्मृतं पञ्च सप्त वा नव वा तथा
A small measure is considered to be five, seven, or nine.
प्रतिमाकरणं प्रोक्तं मारुतेर्दीपदापने
Making an image is prescribed when offering a lamp to the son of the wind.
दक्षिणाभिमुखं वीरं कृत्वा केसरिविक्रमम्
One should fashion the heroic figure, facing south, with the lion's stride.
लिखेद्भित्तौ पटे वापि पीठे वा मारुतेः शुभे
One should draw Hanuman's auspicious form on a wall, cloth, or seat.
नित्यदीपः प्रकर्त्तव्यो द्वादशाक्षरविद्यया
A perpetual lamp should be established with the twelve-syllable mantra.
षष्ट्यादौ च द्वितीयादाविमं दीपमितीरयेत्
At the beginning of sixty and at the second, one should declare this lamp.
कूटादौ नित्यदीपे च मन्त्रं सूर्याक्षरं वदेत्
At the start of the altar and for the perpetual lamp, one should recite the mantra with the syllables of the sun.
गोमयेनोपलिप्तायां भूमौ तद्गतमानसः
With the mind fixed, on earth smeared with cow dung,
कमलं च लिखेद्भद्रं तत्र दीपं निधापयेत्
One should draw an auspicious lotus there and place the lamp upon it.
कूटषट्कं च षट्कोणे अन्तराले परलिखेत्
One should also draw a hexagonal diagram within the six-sided figure.
सौम्यं मध्यगतं लेख्यं तत्र संपूज्य मारुतिम्
A gentle form should be drawn in the center, and Hanuman worshipped there.
वसुपत्रे क्रमात्पूज्या अष्टावेते च वानराः
On a leaf of vasu, these eight monkeys should be worshipped in order.
नीलायाथो जांबवते प्रहस्ताय तथैव च
To Nila, then to Jambavan, and likewise to Prahasta.
आदावञ्जनापुत्राय ततश्च रुद्रमूर्तये
First to the son of Anjana, then to the form of Rudra.
रामदूताय ब्रह्मास्त्रनिवारणाय तत्परम्
To the messenger of Rama, and to the one who wards off the Brahmastra, thus.
कुशोदकं समादाय दीपमन्त्रं समुञ्चरेत्
Taking kusha water, one should recite the lamp mantra.
तं मन्त्रं कूटधा जप्त्वा जलं भूमौ विनिक्षिपेत्
Having recited that mantra in the altar, one should pour the water onto the ground.
