वामे शैलं वैरिभिदं विशुद्धं टङ्कमन्यतः
On the left, a mountain, the destroyer of enemies, pure, and another peak.
एवं ध्यात्वा जपेल्लक्षदशांशं चूतपल्लवैः
Thus meditating, one should recite one-tenth of a hundred thousand with mango leaf sprouts.
महाकारागृहे प्राप्तो ह्ययुतं प्रजपेन्नरः
When a man is confined in a great prison, he should recite ten thousand times.
यन्त्रं चास्य प्रवक्ष्यामि बन्धमोक्षकरं शुभम्
I shall now declare the diagram, auspicious and causing release from bondage.
षट्कोणेषु ध्रुवं ङेंतमाञ्जनेयपदं लिखेत्
In the six corners, one should inscribe the steadfast sign of Hanuman's feet.
गोरोचनाकुङ्कुमेन लिखित्वा यन्त्रमुत्तमम्
Having drawn the excellent diagram with cow-gall and saffron,
यन्त्रमेतल्लिखित्वा तु मृत्तिकोपरि मार्जयेत्
After inscribing this diagram, one should place it upon clay.
एवं कृते महाकारागृहान्मन्त्री विमुच्यते
When this is done, the minister is released from the great prison.
तोयं शशेषे मकरे परिमुञ्चति मुञ्चति
He pours water into the hare or the makara, and releases, releases.
इमं मन्त्रं दक्षकरे लिखित्वा वामहस्ततः
Having written this mantra on the right hand, from the left hand—
त्रिसप्ताहात्प्रबद्धो ऽसौ मुच्यते नात्र संशयः
Within three weeks, the one bound is released; there is no doubt in this.
लक्षं जपो दशांशेन शुभैर्द्रव्यैश्च होमयेत्
Reciting a hundred thousand times, with one-tenth, one should offer oblations with auspicious substances.
गन्धाष्टकैर्लिखेद्वूपं कपिराजस्य सुन्दरम्
With eight kinds of fragrant substances, one should inscribe a beautiful altar for the king of monkeys.
तेन मन्त्राभिजप्तेन शिरोबद्ध्वेन भूमिपः
With that mantra recited and tied upon the head, the king—
चन्द्रसूर्यो परागादौ पूर्वोक्तं लेखयेद्ध्वजे
The moon and sun, at the beginning of the campaign, as previously described, should be drawn on the banner.
मातृकां जापयेत्पश्चाद्दशांशेन च होमयेत्
Then one should recite the alphabet, and with one-tenth, offer oblations.
गजे ध्वजं समारोप्य गच्छेद्युद्ध्वाय भूपतिः
Having mounted the banner upon the elephant, the king should proceed to battle.
महारक्षाकरं यन्त्रं वक्ष्ये सम्यग्धनूमतः
I shall properly declare the diagram that grants great protection, as approved by Dhanumat.
दले ऽष्टकोणमालिख्य मालामन्त्रेण वेष्टयेत्
On a leaf, draw an eight-sided figure and wrap it with a garland while reciting the mantra.
लिखितं स्वर्णलेखन्या भूर्जपत्रे सुशोभने
Inscribe it with a golden stylus on a beautiful birch bark.
सम्पातसाधितं यन्त्रं भुजे वा मूर्ध्नि धारयेत्
The device thus prepared should be worn on the arm or on the head.
ग्रहैर्विघ्नैर्विषैः शस्त्रैश्चौरैर्नैवाभिभूयते
One is not overcome by planets, obstacles, poisons, weapons, or thieves.
षड्दीर्घयुक्तं गगन वह्न्याख्यं तारसंपुटम्
With six long syllables, the 'celestial fire' mantra is enclosed in a cluster of stars.
प्रणवो वज्रकायेति वज्रतुण्डेति संपठेत्
Recite: 'praṇava', 'vajra-bodied', and 'vajra-beaked'.
बलरक्तमुखान्ते तु तडिज्जिह्व महा ततः
At the end, with 'bala', 'rakta', and 'mukha', then 'taḍijjihva' and 'mahā'.
महदृढप्रहारेण लङ्केश्वरवधात्ततः
With a mighty, firm blow, after the slaying of the lord of Lanka.
शैलप्रवाह गगनेचर एह्येहि संवदेत्
Invoke: 'O mountain torrent, sky-traveler, come, come!'
भैरवाज्ञापयैह्येहि महारौद्रपदं ततः
'By Bhairava's command, come here!'—thus the great and terrible phrase.
जंभयद्वयमाभाष्य वर्मास्त्रान्तो मनुर्मतः
Having uttered the two 'jaṃbhaya' mantras, the armor-weapon mantra is considered complete.
मालामन्त्राष्टार्णयोश्च मुन्याद्यर्चा तु पूर्ववत्
The worship of the garland mantra and the eight-syllable mantra by the sage is as before.
