भास्मांबुमन्त्रितं रात्रौ सहस्रावृत्तिकं पुनः
Ash, water, and mantra, at night, repeated a thousand times again,
यासु कासु च स्थूलासु लघुष्वपि विशेषतः
In any of the gross or especially the subtle ones,
अष्टम्यां वा चतुर्दश्यां कुजे वा रविवासरे
On the eighth or fourteenth day, or on a Tuesday or Sunday,
कुर्याद्रम्यां विशुद्धात्मा सर्वलक्षणलक्षिताम्
One should perform the rite, pure in mind, marked by all auspicious signs.
संस्थाप्यावाहयेत्पश्चान्मूलमन्त्रेण मन्त्रवित्
Having established it, the knower of mantras should then invoke it with the root mantra.
रक्तचन्दनपुष्पैश्च सिंदूराद्यैः समर्चयेत्
He should worship with red sandalwood flowers and with vermilion and similar substances.
अपूपमोदनं शाकमोदकान्वटकादिकम्
He should offer rice cakes, cooked rice, vegetables, sweetmeats, fried balls, and the like.
अखण्डितान्यहिलतादलानि सप्तविंशतिम्
He should offer twenty-seven whole, unbroken tender leaves.
एवं संपूज्य मन्त्रज्ञो जपेद्दशशन्त मनुम्
Thus having worshipped, the knower of mantras should recite the mantra ten times in peace.
निजेप्सितं निवेद्याथ विधिवद्विसृजेत्ततः
Then, having offered his desired intention, he should properly dismiss it thereafter.
निवेदितानि पर्णानि तेभ्यो दद्याद्विभज्य च
He should distribute the offered leaves among them, giving each a share.
तत इष्टगणैः सार्द्धं स्वयं भुञ्जीत वाग्यतः
Then, together with the group of participants, he himself should eat in silence.
एवं यः कुरुते मर्त्यः सो ऽचिरादेव निश्चितम्
Whoever among mortals performs thus, certainly attains the result without delay.
हनुमत्प्रतिमां भूमौ विलिखेत्तत्पुरो मनुम्
He should draw the image of Hanuman on the ground and recite the mantra before it.
एवमष्टोत्तरशतं लिखित्वा मार्जयेत्पुनः
In this way, after writing it one hundred and eight times, he should erase it again.
एवमन्यानि कर्माणि कुर्य्यान्त्पल्लवमुल्लिखन्
Likewise, he should perform other rites by drawing with tender leaves.
कुङ्कुमैरिध्मकाष्ठैर्वा मरीचैर्जीरकैरपि
With saffron, kindling sticks, marica seeds, or cumin seeds as well.
शूले करञ्जवातारिसमिद्भिस्तैललोलितैः
With skewers, karanja seeds, vata seeds, sacrificial sticks, and those anointed with oil.
सौभाग्ये चन्दनैश्चेन्द्रलोचनैर्वा लवङ्गकैः
For good fortune, with sandalwood, indralocana seeds, or cloves.
रिपुपादरजोभिश्च राजीलवणमिश्रितैः
With dust from the enemy’s feet mixed with streaked salt.
धान्यैः संप्राप्यते धान्यमन्नैरन्नसमुच्छ्रयः
By means of grains, one obtains grain; by means of food, an abundance of food.
किं बहूक्तैर्विषे व्याधौ शान्तौ मोहे च मारणे
Why speak at length? In cases of poison, disease, pacification, delusion, or destruction—
वश्ये युद्धे क्षते दिव्ये बन्धमोक्षे महावने
In subjugation, in battle, when wounded, in divine matters, in release from bonds, and in the great forest—
वक्ष्ये ऽथ हनुमद्यन्त्रं सर्वसिद्धिप्रदायकम्
I shall now describe the Hanuman yantra, bestower of all accomplishments.
साध्यनाम लिखेन्मध्ये पाशिबीज प्रवेष्टितम्
In the center, one should write the syllable 'Sādhya', with the Pāśi seed-letter placed within.
तद्बहिर्दंहमालिख्य तद्बहिश्चतुरस्रकम्
Outside that, one should inscribe a line, and outside that, a quadrangle.
सैं बीजं भूपुरस्याष्टवज्रेषु विलिखेत्ततः
Then, the same seed-letter should be written at the eight thunderbolt points around the base.
तत्सर्वं वेष्टयेद्यन्त्रवलयत्रितयेन च
All of this should be encircled with three rings of the yantra.
ताडपत्रे ऽथ भूर्जे वा रोचनानाभिकुङ्कुभैः
Then, on palm leaf or birch bark, with pigments of various colors, one should draw it.
कपेः प्राणान्प्रतिष्टाप्य पूजयेत्तद्यथाविधि
Establishing the life-force of the monkey (Hanuman) therein, one should worship it according to the proper method.
