श्रीपूर्वं जयपूर्वं च तद्द्विधा रामनाम च
The name of Rama is of two kinds: preceded by 'śrī' and preceded by 'jaya'.
छन्दस्तु देवता प्रोक्तो रामः पापौघनाशनःऋ
The metre is declared as 'devatā'; Rama is the destroyer of heaps of sin.
ध्यानार्चनादिकं सव ह्यस्य कुर्याद्दशार्णवत्
One should perform meditation, worship, and other acts for him, just as with the ten-syllabled mantra.
पुरुषाय हृदन्तो ऽयं मनुरष्टादशाक्षरः
This mantra of eighteen syllables is for the Purusha, and should be placed in the heart.
तारो बीजं नमः शक्तिश्चन्द्राक्ष्यब्ध्यग्निषड्भुजैः
The syllable 'tāra' is the seed, 'namaḥ' is the energy, with moon-eyed, ocean, fire, and six-armed forms.
निःशाणभेरीपटहशङ्खतुर्यादिनिःस्वनैः
With the sounds of drums, kettledrums, conch, trumpets, and other instruments resounding.
चन्दनागरुकस्तूरीकर्पूरादिसुवासिते
Fragrant with sandalwood, aloe, musk, camphor, and other scents.
देवगन्धर्वनारीभिर्गायन्तीभिरलकृते
Sung by divine women and Gandharvas, with unblemished voices.
सौमित्रिसीतासहितं जटामुकुटशोभितम्
Together with Saumitri and Sita, adorned with a matted hair crown.
हत्वा रावणमायान्तं कृतत्रैलोक्यरक्षणम्
Having slain Ravana and arrived, he has accomplished the protection of the three worlds.
घृताक्तैः पायसैर्हुत्वा यजनं पूर्ववञ्चरेत्
One should perform the ritual as before, offering clarified butter and rice pudding.
रामाय हनयुग्मान्ते वर्मास्त्राग्निप्रियान्तिमः
At the end of the pair of 'Han' syllables for Rama, the final part is dear to armor, weapons, and fire.
विश्वामित्रो मुनिश्चास्यानुष्टुप्छन्द उदाहृतम्
Viśvāmitra the sage has prescribed the Anuṣṭubh metre for this.
मन्त्रोत्थितैः क्रमाद्वर्णैस्ततो ध्यायेञ्च पूर्ववत्
Then, as before, one should meditate using the syllables arising from the mantra, in sequence.
तारः स्वबीजं कमला रामभद्रेति संपठेत्
One should recite 'tāra', one's own seed, 'kamalā', and 'Rāmabhadra'.
दशास्यान्तकशब्दान्ते मां रक्ष देहि संपठेत्
At the end of the word 'destroyer of ten-headed', one should recite: 'Protect me, grant [this]'.
बीजैर्वियुक्तो द्वात्रिंशदर्णो ऽयं फलदायकः
This thirty-two syllabled [mantra], devoid of seeds, is bestower of fruits.
देवता रामभद्रो ऽत्र बीजं स्वं शक्तिरिन्दिरा
Here, the deity is Rāmabhadra, the seed is one's own, and the energy is Indirā.
पञ्चाङ्गानि च विन्यस्य मन्त्रवर्णान्क्रमान्न्यसेत्
Having placed the five limbs, he should arrange the syllables of the mantra in order.
आस्ये दोःसंधियुगले स्तनहृन्नाभिषु क्रमात्
In sequence, at the mouth, the two joints of the arms, the breasts, the heart, and the navel.
ध्यानार्चनादिकं चास्य पूर्ववत्समुपाचरेत्
He should perform meditation, worship, and related acts for him as previously described.
ध्यात्वा रामं पीतवर्णं जपेल्लक्षं समाहितः
Meditating on Rama, golden in complexion, he should recite the mantra one hundred thousand times with concentration.
तारो माया रमाद्वन्द्वं दाशरथाय हृञ्च वै
The syllable 'tāra', 'māyā', the pair 'ramā', and 'daśaratha' with 'hṛṃ' indeed.
त्रैलोक्यान्ते तु नाथाय हृदन्तो वसुवर्णवान्
At the end of the three worlds, for the Lord, with 'hṛd' at the end, shining like gold.
आञ्जनेयपदान्ते तु गुरवे हृदयान्तिमः
At the end of 'Āñjaneya', for the guru, with 'hṛd' as the final syllable.
ङेतं रामपद पश्चाद्धृदयं पञ्चवणवत्
After this, the word 'Rāma' follows, with 'hṛdaya' as the fifth syllable.
रामान्ते चन्द्रभद्रौ च ङेंतौ पावकवल्लभा
At the end of 'Rāma', 'candra' and 'bhadra'; at the end of 'ṅem', 'Pāvakavallabhā'.
वह्निः शेषान्वितश्चैव चन्द्रभूषितमस्तकः
He is accompanied by fire and Śeṣa, and his head is adorned with the moon.
ब्रह्मा मुनिः स्याद्गायत्री छन्दो रामो ऽस्य देवता
Brahmā is the sage, Gāyatrī is the meter, and Rāma is the deity of this mantra.
सरयूतीरमन्दारवेदिकापङ्कजासने
On the lotus seat of the Mandāra altar on the bank of the Sarayū river.
