कोणपत्रेषु शान्तिं च श्रियं सरस्वतीं रतिम्
On the corner leaves, one should worship peace, prosperity, Sarasvatī, and delight.
शङ्खं चक्रं गदां शार्ङ्गं दलेष्वष्टसु पूजयेत्
In the eight petals, one should worship the conch, discus, mace, and bow.
तदस्त्राणि च सम्पूज्य गजानष्टौ समर्चयेत्
Having worshipped those weapons, one should then honor the eight elephant guardians.
पुष्पदन्तः सार्वभौमः सुप्रतीकश्च दिग्गजाः
Puṣpadanta, Sārvabhauma, Supratīka, these are the guardians of the directions.
ताम्रकर्णी शुभ्रदन्ती चाङ्गना ह्यञ्जना वती
Tāmrakarṇī, Śubhradantī, Aṅganā, and Añjanāvatī.
श्रीकामः पायसाज्येन सहस्रं जुहुयात्सुधीः
Desiring prosperity, the wise one should offer a thousand oblations with milk and ghee.
शतपुष्पासमुत्थैश्च बीजैर्हुत्वा सहस्रतः
And with seeds produced from a hundred flowers, one should offer a thousand oblations.
दद्ध्योदनेन शुद्धेन हुत्वा मुच्यते दुर्गतेः
By offering pure curd-rice, one is freed from misfortune.
कारागृहाद्भवन्मुक्तो बद्धो मन्त्रप्रभावतः
Released from prison, the bound one is freed by the power of the mantra.
नित्यं सुगन्धकुसुमैर्महतीं श्रियमाप्नुयात्
By always offering fragrant flowers, one attains great prosperity.
अन्नाज्यैर्जुहुयान्नित्यमष्टाविंशतिसंख्यया
One should always offer food and ghee in the number of twenty-eight.
अपूपैः षड्रसोपेतैर्हुनेद्वसुसहस्रकम्
With cakes endowed with six tastes, one should offer two thousand oblations.
जुहुयादयुतं मन्त्री दध्यन्नं च सितान्वितम्
The officiant should offer ten thousand times curd-rice mixed with sugar.
पद्माक्षरैर्युतं बिल्वान्तिकस्थो जुहुयान्नरः
A man should offer, while seated near a bilva tree, rice adorned with lotus syllables.
जुहुयात्पायसैर्लक्षं वाचस्पतिसमो भवेत्
He should offer one hundred thousand portions of sweet rice; he will become equal to Brihaspati in eloquence.
तत्काष्टैरेधिते वह्नौ श्रेष्ठं पुत्रमवाप्नुयात्
With fire kindled by that wood, he will obtain an excellent son.
विलसत्केसरं मन्त्राक्षरद्वन्द्वाष्टपत्रकम्
With radiant stamens and eight petals, formed from pairs of mantra syllables.
तद्बहिर्मातृकावर्णैर्यन्त्रं सम्पत्प्रदं नृणाम्
Outside it, with the letters of the mother syllables, the diagram grants prosperity to men.
जुहुयादयुतं मन्त्री सर्वत्र विजयी भवेत्
The officiant should offer ten thousand times; everywhere, he will be victorious.
लभेदकण्टकं राज्यं सर्वलक्षणसंयुतम्
He attains a kingdom free from thorns, endowed with all marks.
अयुतं साध्यनामाढ्यं स वश्यो जायते ध्रुवम्
Ten thousand times for the desired goal; he surely becomes wealthy and obedient.
तावज्जप्त्वा च सप्ताहान्महारोगात्प्रमुच्यते
By reciting thus for seven days, one is freed from severe disease.
सर्ववार्गीश्वरेत्यन्ते प्रवदेदीश्वरेत्यथ
At the end, one should say 'lord of all categories', then 'lord'.
बोधयद्वितवान्तो ऽयं मन्त्रस्तारादिरीरितः
This mantra, declared by Tara and others, is explained as having two parts.
देवता स्याद्धयग्रीवो वागैश्वर्यप्रदो विभुः
The deity is Hayagriva, the mighty giver of mastery in speech.
तुषाराद्रिसमच्छायं तुलसीदामभूषितम्
His form is as radiant as the snowy mountain, adorned with a garland of tulasi.
ध्यात्वैवं प्रजपेन्मन्त्रमयुतं तद्दशांशतः
Meditating thus, one should recite the mantra ten thousand times, then perform one-tenth as oblation.
पूजयेद्वेष्णवे पीठे मूर्तिं संकल्प्य मूलतः
One should worship the image of Vishnu, conceived at the root, on a seat.
सनन्दनं च सनकं श्रियं च पृथिवीं तथा
Sanandana, Sanaka, Shri, and also the Earth.
निरुक्तं ज्योतिषं पश्चाद्यजेद्व्याकरणं ततः
After Nirukta and Jyotisha, one should worship Vyakarana.
