तारौह्नैपरमान्ते तु ह्रंसफट्प्रणवस्ततः
At the supreme end of tāra, utter hraṃsa, phaṭ, and praṇava thereafter.
ह्रैं अनौपम्यरूपधारिणास्त्रं ध्रुवस्ततः
Hraiṃ is the weapon for the bearer of the incomparable form; then comes dhruva.
ष्टाङ्गविन्यासविन्य स्तमूर्तिधारिंस्ततश्च फट्
With the application of ṣṭāṅga, assign the form-bearing, then utter phaṭ.
तारो वर्मत्रयं संकरं वं चामुकमस्तकम्
Tāra is the triple armor; saṃkara, vaṃ, and the head of the cāmuka.
द्वयं ततो महात्मन्स्यान्सम्यग्दर्शययुग्मकम्
After that, O great soul, two pairs are to be shown correctly.
उत्तरायं द्वयं पञ्चबाणबीजानि वोञ्चरेत्
Then, in the north, two sets of the five-arrow seeds are to be recited.
नृसिंहान्ते ततः कालात्मने स्वाहा ध्रुवस्ततः
At the end of Nṛsiṃha, for the soul of Time, recite svāhā and then dhruva.
मायातारान्तिमो मन्त्रः सहस्राक्षरसंमितः
The final mantra of Māyā-tāra is said to be equal to a thousand syllables.
श्रीलक्ष्मीर्नृहरिर्बीजं क्षैं शक्तिर्वह्निवल्लभा
Śrī Lakṣmī is the seed of Nṛhari; kṣaiṃ is the power, beloved of fire.
क्षेत्रं च परमात्मा तु विनियोगो ऽखिलात्पये
The field is the Supreme Soul; the assignment is to be made from all.
नृसिंहान्तं वह्निजायास्त्रायफटू मन्त्र ईरितः
At the end of Nṛsiṃha, the mantra is uttered: vahnijāyāstrāyaphaṭū.
तारः क्षां च सहस्रान्ते क्षरशब्दाद्विजृंभितम्
Tāra and kṣāṃ at the thousandth end, expanded from the syllable kṣara.
मारः क्षीं च महातेनुं प्रभान्ते विकरेति च
Māra and kṣīṃ, the great body, and at the end of light, recite vikara.
तारः क्षूं तप्तयंहायश्चादृक्केशान्त ईरयेत्
Tāra and kṣūṃ, for the burning, utter at the end of the vision and hair.
नख स्पर्शाद्दिव्यसिंह नमो ऽस्तु भगवन् हरिः
With the touch of the nails, O divine lion, salutations to you, Lord Hari.
अनेन च शिखा प्रोक्ता कवचं तदनन्तरम्
With this, the crest has been described; the armor follows thereafter.
विह्वलितनृसिंहाय स्वाहान्तं कवचं स्मृतम्
The kavaca ends with 'svāhā' for the agitated Narasiṃha.
धारणेग्नि प्रियान्तो ऽयं नेत्रमन्त्रः प्रकीर्तितः
This is called the eye-mantra, dear to Agni, ending with 'priyānta'.
सहस्रान्ते युधायाथं नृसिंहायाग्निसुंदरी
At the end of a thousand (recitations), for battle, to Narasiṃha and Agnisundarī—
उद्यदर्कसहस्राभं त्रीक्षणं भीसभूषणम्
Resplendent like a thousand rising suns, three-eyed, adorned with terrifying ornaments—
एवं ध्यात्वा जपेन्मन्त्री सहस्रं पायेन चग
Thus meditating, the practitioner should recite the mantra a thousand times, using water for purification.
प्रागुक्ते वैष्णवे पीठे मूर्तिं संकल्प्य मूलतः
On the previously mentioned Vaiṣṇava seat, one should establish the image at the base with intent.
चक्र शङ्खं च पाशं वाङ्कुशं कुलिशमेव च
The discus, conch, noose, goad, and also the thunderbolt—
लोकेशानपि वज्राद्यान्पूजयेत्तदनन्तरम्
Next, one should worship the lords of the worlds and others, such as those bearing the vajra.
भस्माभिमन्त्रितं कृत्वा ग्रहग्रस्तं विलेपयेत्
Having consecrated ashes with mantra, one should anoint the one afflicted by a planet.
अनेनैव विधानेन यक्षराक्षसकिन्नरः
By this very procedure, yakṣas, rākṣasas, and kinnaras—
पराभिचारकृत्यानि मनुनानेन मन्त्रितम्
All acts of sorcery are rendered powerless by this mantra.
सुदिने स्थापयेत्कुम्भे सर्वतोभद्रमण्डले
On an auspicious day, one should place (the image) in a pot within a sarvatobhadra maṇḍala.
तेनाभिषिक्तो मनुजः सर्वापत्तिं तरेद् ध्रुवम्
A person anointed with this will surely cross over all calamities.
तन्नो नृसिंहः शब्दान्ते वदेंश्चैव प्रचोदयात्
At the end of the words, one should say 'tanno nṛsiṃhaḥ pracodayāt'.
