कालान्तकं नाम चक्रं सुरासुखशङ्करम्
This wheel is called 'Kālāntaka,' the bringer of happiness to the gods.
यस्य धारणमात्रेण सर्वत्र विजयी भवेत्
By merely wearing it, one becomes victorious everywhere.
बीजं हृद्भगवान्ङेंतो नरसिंहाय तत्परम्
The seed is the Lord in the heart, 'ṅeṃto,' supreme for Nārasiṃha.
त्राय सर्वादिरक्षोघ्नाय च नः सर्वभूपदम्
Protect us, O destroyer of all beginnings and demons, O lord of all beings.
नामान्ते दहयुग्मं च पचद्वयमुदीरयेत्
At the end of the name, one should utter the double 'da' and the double 'pa'.
अष्टषष्ट्यक्षरैः प्रोक्तो ज्वालामाली मनूत्तमः
The supreme mantra called 'Jvālāmālī' is spoken with sixty-eight syllables.
पङ्क्तिभी रुद्रासंख्याकैरष्टादशभिरक्षरैः
In lines, with eighteen syllables, equal to the number of Rudras.
पूर्वोक्तरूपिणं ज्वालामालिन नृहरिं स्मरेत्
One should remember Nṛhari, adorned with flames, in the form previously described.
रौद्रापस्मारभूतादिनाशको ऽयं मनूत्तमः
This supreme mantra destroys afflictions such as those caused by Rudra, epilepsy, and evil spirits.
षडक्षरो महामन्त्रः सर्वाभीष्टप्रदायकः
The six-syllabled great mantra grants all desired blessings.
षड्दीर्घभाजा बीजेन षडङ्गानि समाचरेत्
One should perform the six limbs with the seed syllable, each extended with six long vowels.
सिद्धेन मनुनानेन सर्वसिद्धिर्भवेन्नृणाम्
By means of this perfected mantra, all accomplishments are attained by people.
प्रजापतिर्मुनिश्च्छन्दो ऽनुष्टुप् लक्ष्मीनृकेसरी
The seer is Prajapati, the sage; the meter is Anushtubh; Lakshmi and Narasimha are the deities.
विन्यस्यैवं तु पञ्चाङ्गं स्वात्मरक्षां समाचरेत्
Thus establishing the five limbs, one should perform self-protection.
प्रणवो हृच्छिवार्यन्ति महते शरभाय च
The syllable Om is placed at the heart, then 'Shivarya' and 'to the great Sharabha' as well.
अथवा राममन्त्रान्ते परं क्षद्वितयं पठेत्
Alternatively, at the end of the Rama mantra, one should recite the supreme two 'ksha' syllables.
केशवः पातु पादौ मे जङ्घे नारायणो ऽवतु
May Keshava protect my feet, and Narayana guard my shanks.
नाभिं विष्णुश्च मे पातु जठरं मधुसूदनः
May Vishnu protect my navel, and Madhusudana my abdomen.
श्रीधरः पातु कण्ठं च हृषीकेशो मुखं मम
May Shridhara protect my throat, and Hrishikesha my mouth.
एवं विन्यस्य चाङ्गेषु जपकाले तु साधकः
In this way, having established on the limbs, the practitioner should recite during the time of japa.
पुनर्न्यसेत्प्रयत्नेन ध्यानं कुर्वन्समाहितः
Then, with effort, one should again perform the nyasa, meditating with focused mind.
पश्चान्नारायणः शङ्खी नीलजीमूतसन्निभः
Behind, Narayana holds a conch, resembling a dark raincloud.
गिविन्दो दक्षिणे पार्श्वे धन्वी चन्द्रप्रभो महान्
On the right side is Govinda, bearing a bow, radiant as the moon and great in form.
आग्नेय्यामरविन्दाक्षो मुसलीमधुसूदनः
In the southeast is Amaravindaksha, holding a mace, and Madhusudana.
वायव्यां माधवो वज्री तरुणादित्यसन्निभः
In the northwest is Madhava, wielding a thunderbolt, resembling the young sun.
विद्युत्प्रभो हृषीकेश उर्द्धू पातु समुद्गरः
Hrishikesha, shining like lightning, stands above, holding a club.
सर्वायुधः सर्वशक्तिः सर्वाद्यः सर्वतोमुखः
He is armed with all weapons, possesses all powers, is the origin of all, and faces in every direction.
स बाह्याभ्यन्तरे देहमव्याद्दामो दरो हरिः
May that garlanded, awe-inspiring Hari protect my body, both outwardly and inwardly.
प्रविष्टो ऽहं न मे किञ्चिद्भयमस्ति कदाचन
Having entered, I have no fear whatsoever at any time.
सर्वेषु नृहरेर्मन्त्रवर्गेष्वेवं विधिर्मतः
Such is the prescribed method in all the mantra groups of Narasimha.
