अष्टोत्तरशतमूलमन्त्रमन्त्रितभस्मना
With ashes empowered by the mantra of one hundred and eight syllables,
लिप्ताङ्गः सर्वरोगैश्च मुच्यते नात्र संशयः
One who anoints his body is freed from all diseases—of this there is no doubt.
औदुम्बरसमिद्भिस्तु भवेद्धान्यसमृद्धिमान्
By using sticks of the audumbara tree, one attains abundance of grain.
क्रुद्धस्य सन्निधौ राज्ञो जपेदष्टोत्तरं शतम्
In the presence of an angry king, one should recite the mantra one hundred and eight times.
कुन्दप्रसूनैरुदयं मोचाभिर्विघ्ननाशनम्
With jasmine flowers at sunrise, and with mocā flowers, obstacles are destroyed.
शाल्युत्थसक्तुहोमेन वशयेदखिलं जगत्
By offering oblations of parched rice made from shāli rice, one brings the entire world under control.
दधिमध्वाज्यमिश्रां तु गुडूचीं चतुरङ्गुलाम्
One should use guduchi four fingers long, mixed with curd, honey, and ghee.
शनैश्चरदिने ऽश्वत्थं स्पृष्ट्वा चाष्टोत्तरं शतम्
On a Saturday, after touching an ashvattha tree, one should recite the mantra one hundred and eight times.
अथ ते संप्रवक्ष्यामि यन्त्रं त्रैलोक्यमोहनम्
Now I shall explain to you the yantra that enchants the three worlds.
श्वेतभूर्ज्जे लिखेत्पद्मं द्वात्रिंशत्सिंहसंयुतम्
On white birch bark, one should draw a lotus adorned with thirty-two lions.
श्रीबीजेन तु तुसंवेद्य वलयत्रयसंयुतम्
With the seed syllable of Śrī, to be perceived through the husk, adorned with three bracelets.
त्रैलोक्यमोहनं नाम सर्वकामार्थसाधनम्
It is called 'the enchantment of the three worlds,' the fulfiller of all desires and aims.
धारणाज्जयमाप्नोति सत्यं सत्यं न संशयः
By its concentration, one attains victory—this is truth, truth, without doubt.
अष्टारं विलिखेद्यन्त्रं श्लक्ष्णं कर्णिकया युतम्
One should inscribe an eight-spoked device, smooth and furnished with a central hub.
एकाक्षरं नारसिंहं मध्ये चैव ससाध्यकम्
In the center, place the single-syllabled Nārasiṃha, along with its object of accomplishment.
स्वर्णरौप्यसुताम्रैश्च वेष्टयेत्क्रमतः सुधीः
A wise person should wrap it in order with gold, silver, copper, and brass.
कण्ठे भुजे शिखायां वा धारयेद्यन्त्रमुत्तमम्
Let one wear this excellent device on the neck, arm, or topknot.
दुष्टास्तं नैव बाधन्ते पिशाचोरगराक्षसाः
The wicked, as well as ghosts, serpents, and demons, do not trouble him.
अथान्यत्संप्रवक्ष्यामि यन्त्रं सर्ववशङ्करम्
Now I shall declare another device, which brings all under control.
मात्राद्वादशसंभिन्नदलेन विलिखेद्रुधः
Firmly inscribe it with twelve divisions from the measure.
कालान्तकं नाम चक्रं सुरासुखशङ्करम्
This wheel is called 'Kālāntaka,' the bringer of happiness to the gods.
यस्य धारणमात्रेण सर्वत्र विजयी भवेत्
By merely wearing it, one becomes victorious everywhere.
बीजं हृद्भगवान्ङेंतो नरसिंहाय तत्परम्
The seed is the Lord in the heart, 'ṅeṃto,' supreme for Nārasiṃha.
त्राय सर्वादिरक्षोघ्नाय च नः सर्वभूपदम्
Protect us, O destroyer of all beginnings and demons, O lord of all beings.
नामान्ते दहयुग्मं च पचद्वयमुदीरयेत्
At the end of the name, one should utter the double 'da' and the double 'pa'.
अष्टषष्ट्यक्षरैः प्रोक्तो ज्वालामाली मनूत्तमः
The supreme mantra called 'Jvālāmālī' is spoken with sixty-eight syllables.
पङ्क्तिभी रुद्रासंख्याकैरष्टादशभिरक्षरैः
In lines, with eighteen syllables, equal to the number of Rudras.
पूर्वोक्तरूपिणं ज्वालामालिन नृहरिं स्मरेत्
One should remember Nṛhari, adorned with flames, in the form previously described.
रौद्रापस्मारभूतादिनाशको ऽयं मनूत्तमः
This supreme mantra destroys afflictions such as those caused by Rudra, epilepsy, and evil spirits.
षडक्षरो महामन्त्रः सर्वाभीष्टप्रदायकः
The six-syllabled great mantra grants all desired blessings.
