मासमात्रेण वश्याःस्युस्तस्य सर्वे नृपोत्तमाः
Within a single month, all the greatest kings will come under his control.
स भवेद्दासवत्सद्यो मन्त्रस्यास्य प्रभावतः
He will immediately become like a servant, due to the power of this mantra.
साधयेत्सकलान्कामान्विष्णुतुल्यो न संशयः
He will accomplish all desires, equal to Viṣṇu—of this there is no doubt.
यान्समाराध्य ब्रह्माद्याश्चक्रुः सृष्ट्यादि कर्म वै
By worshipping whom, Brahmā and the others performed creation and other acts—
एकाक्षरः स्मृतो मन्त्रो भजतां सुरपादपः
The mantra is said to be a single syllable, a wish-fulfilling tree for devotees.
देवता नृहरिः प्रोक्तो विनियोगो ऽखिलाप्तये
The deity is called Nṛhari; the application is for the attainment of all things.
अर्केन्दुवह्निनयनं शरदिन्दुरुचं करैः
With eyes like the sun, moon, and fire, shining like the autumn moon with his rays—
लक्षं जपस्तद्दशांशहोमश्च घृतपायसैः
One hundred thousand recitations, and one-tenth that number of fire offerings with ghee and sweet rice.
खगेशं शङ्करं शेषं शतानन्दं दिगालिषु
To the lord of birds, to Śaṅkara, to Śeṣa, to Śatānanda in the directions—
दन्तच्छदेषु नृहरींस्तावतः पूजयेत्क्रमात्म
On elephant tusks, one should worship Nṛhari in order, as many times as prescribed.
करालो विकरालश्च दैत्यान्तो मधुसूदनः
Karāla, Vikarāla, Daityānta, Madhusūdana—
सुघोरकश्च सुहनुर्विश्वको राक्षसांतकः
Sughoraka, Suhanu, Viśvaka, the destroyer of Rākṣasas—
मेघवर्णः कुभघकर्णः कृतान्ततीव्रतेजसौ
Meghavarṇa, Kubhaghakarṇa, Kṛtānta, and those of fierce brilliance—
विघ्नक्षमो महासेनः सिंहा द्वात्रिंशदीरिताः
Vighnakṣama, Mahāsena, and thirty-two lions are declared.
एवं सिद्धे मनौ मन्त्री साधेयेदखिलेप्सितान्
Thus, with the mantra perfected, the practitioner may accomplish all desired aims.
विष्णुं ज्वलन्तं भृग्वीशो जलं पद्मासनं ततः
Viṣṇu blazing, Bhṛgu's lord, water, and the lotus-seated one thereafter—
गदी सेंदुनृसिंहं च भीषणं भद्वमेव च
The wielder of the mace, the oceanic Nṛsiṃha, the terrifying and the auspicious as well—
नृहरेर्द्वाविंशदर्णो ऽयं मन्त्रः साम्राज्यदायकः
This is the twenty-two-syllable mantra of Nṛhari, bestower of sovereignty.
देवता नृहरिश्चास्य सर्वेष्टुफलदायकः
The deity is Nṛhari, who grants all desired fruits.
वेदैश्चतुर्भिर्वसुभिः षड्भिः षड्भिर्युगाक्षरैः
With the four Vedas, the six Vasus, and the six syllables of the yuga,
मुखबाह्वङ्घ्रिसंध्यग्रेष्वथ कुक्षौ तथा हृदि
At the tips of the mouth, arms, feet, at the joints, the navel, and the heart,
प्रणवान्तरितान् कृत्वा न्यसेत्साधकसत्तमः
Having placed the syllables with praṇava in between, the best practitioner should assign them.
कराङ्घ्षष्टाद्यङ्गुलीषु पृथगाद्यन्तपर्वणोः
On the fingers and toes, beginning with the thumb, at each joint, separately at the base and tip,
शिरोललाटे भ्रुमध्ये नेत्रयोः कर्णयोस्तथा
On the head, forehead, between the eyebrows, on the eyes, and on the ears,
कण्ठे घोणे च भुजयोर्द्दत्तनौ नाभिमण्डले
On the throat, nose, both arms, both sides of the body, and the navel region,
गुल्फे पादकराङ्गुल्योः सर्वसन्धिषु रोमसु
On the ankles, toes, fingers, all the joints, and the hair follicles,
वर्णान्पदे गुल्फजानुकटिनाभिहृदि स्थले
The syllables should be placed at the feet, ankles, knees, hips, navel, and heart,
कर्णयोर्वदने नासापुटे नेत्रे च मूर्द्धनि
On the ears, mouth, nostrils, eyes, and the crown of the head,
आस्ये च हृदय नाभौ पादान्सर्वाङ्गकेन्यसेत्
Also in the mouth, heart, navel, and on the feet, let him assign them to all the limbs.
उग्रादीनि पदानी ह मृत्युमृत्युं नमाम्यहम्
The words beginning with Ugra, 'O Death of death, I bow to you,'
