प्रह्वी सत्या तथेशाननुग्रहा नवमी मता
Humbly, with truth, and by the favor of the Lord, the ninth is considered.
तात्मने वासुदेवाय सर्वात्मेति पदं वदेत्
For himself, to Vāsudeva, he should utter the word: 'All is the Self.'
षड्विंशदक्षरः पीठमन्त्रो ऽनेनासनं दिशेत्
With the twenty-six syllable seat-mantra, he should assign the seat by this.
आदौ चाङ्गानि संपूज्य मन्त्राणां केशरेषु च
First, having worshipped the limbs, and also the roots of the mantras.
प्रद्युम्नमनिरुद्धं च शक्तीः कोणेष्वथार्चयेत्
He should worship Pradyumna and Aniruddha, and the powers at the corners.
हेमपीततमालेन्द्रनीलाभाः पीतवाससः
Golden, yellow, dark, sapphire-hued, wearing yellow garments.
सितकाञ्चनगोदुग्धदूर्वावर्णाश्च शक्तयः
White, golden, cow's milk, and durva grass colored are the powers.
पूजयेन्मुसलं खड्गं वनमालां यथाक्रमात्
He should worship the pestle, sword, and forest garland in order.
कुङ्कुमाभं समभ्यर्च्येद्वहिरग्रे खगेश्वरम्
He should worship the lord of birds outside, in front, resembling saffron.
मुक्तामाणिक्यसंकाशौ पश्चिमे ध्वजमपर्चयेत्
He should worship the banner in the west, shining like pearls and rubies.
दुर्गां श्यामां वायुकोणे सेनान्यं पीतमैश्वरे
He should worship Durgā, dark in color, in the wind corner, and the commander, yellow and lordly.
एवमावरणैर्युक्तं योर्ऽचजयेद्विष्णुमव्ययम्
Thus, endowed with these enclosures, one should worship the imperishable Viṣṇu.
क्षेत्रधान्यसुवर्णानां प्पाप्तये धारणीं स्मरेत्
For the attainment of land, grain, and gold, one should remember the earth.
चिन्तयेद्भारतीं देवीं वीणापुस्तकधारिणीम्
He should contemplate the goddess Bhāratī, holding the lute and book.
क्षीराब्धिफेनपुञ्जाभे वसानां श्वेतवाससी
Clad in white garments, resembling heaps of foam from the milk ocean.
वेदवेदार्थतत्त्वज्ञो जायते सर्ववित्तमः
Knowing the essence of the Vedas and their meanings, he becomes foremost among all the learned.
शश्त्रं संमन्त्र्य मन्त्रेण शब्रून्हत्वा निवर्तते
Having invoked the weapon with a mantra, he strikes the enemies and then withdraws.
शतमष्टोत्तरं जण्त्वा वामहस्ताभिमन्त्रिताः
After reciting one hundred and eight times, consecrated with the left hand,
गारुडेन च संयोज्य पञ्चार्णेन जपेत्तदा
And joining it with the Garuḍa mantra, he should then recite the five-syllabled mantra.
अशोकफलके तार्क्ष्यमालिख्याशोकसंहतौ
On an Aśoka-wooden board, drawing the figure of Garuḍa at the time of removing sorrow,
जुहुयात्तानि पुष्पाणि त्रिसंध्यं सप्तपत्रकम्
He should offer those flowers, seven-petaled, at the three junctions of the day.
गाणपत्येन संयोज्य जपेल्लक्षं पयोव्रतः
Joining with the Gāṇapatya mantra, he should recite one hundred thousand times, observing a milk vow.
वाणिबीजेन संयुक्तं षण्मासं योजयेन्नरः
A man should combine it with the seed-syllable of speech and apply it for six months.
हुत्वा गुङ्चीशकलान्यर्द्धागुलमितानि च
Having offered pieces of guñcī root, each measuring half a finger in length,
शनैश्वर दिने सम्यक् स्पृष्ट्वा श्वत्थं च पाणिना
On a Saturday, having properly touched a śvattha tree with his hand,
पञ्चविंशतिधा जप्त्वा नित्यं प्रातः पिबेज्जलम्
Reciting twenty-five times daily, in the morning he should drink water.
कुंभं संस्थाप्य विधिवदापूर्य शुद्धवारिणा
He should set up a pot according to the rules and fill it with pure water.
चन्द्रसूर्योपरागे तु ह्युपोष्याष्टसहस्रकम्
At the lunar or solar eclipse, fasting, he should recite eight thousand times.
मेधां कवित्वं वाक्सिद्धिं लभते नात्र संशयः
He attains intelligence, poetic skill, and mastery of speech—of this there is no doubt.
नारायणस्य मन्त्रो ऽयं सर्वमन्त्रोत्तमोत्तमः
This mantra of Nārāyaṇa is the highest among all mantras.
