मूर्तीन्यंसेद्द्वादश वै द्वादशादित्यसंयुताः
There are indeed twelve forms, associated with the twelve Adityas.
अष्टार्णो ऽयं मनुश्चाष्टप्रकृत्यात्मा समीरितः
This Manu is said to be eightfold in nature, composed of eight elements.
ललाटकुक्षिहृत्कण्ठदक्षपार्श्वांसकेषु च
And on the forehead, belly, heart, throat, right side, and shoulders,
ककुद्यपि न्यसेन्मन्त्री मूर्तीर्द्वादश वै क्रमात्
The priest should place, in order, the twelve forms, even on the hump.
मित्रेण माधवं न्यस्य गोविन्दं वरुणेन च
With the Mitra mantra, place Madhava; with the Varuna mantra, Govinda.
न्यसेद्विवस्वता युक्तं त्रिविक्रममतः परम्
Then, with the Vivasvat mantra, place Trivikrama accordingly.
हृषीकेशं न्यसेत्पश्चात्पर्जन्येन समन्वितम्
After that, place Hrishikesha, accompanied by the Parjanya mantra.
द्वादसार्णं ततो मन्त्रं समस्ते शिरसि न्यसेत्
Then, the twelve-syllabled mantra should be placed on the top of the head.
ध्रुवःकिरीटकेयूरहारान्ते मकरेतिच
Dhruva, crown, armlets, necklace, and at the end, the makara symbol.
पीतांबरान्ते श्रीवत्सां कितवक्षः स्थलेति च
At the end of the yellow garment, the Srivatsa mark, and the chest region.
वदेद्दीप्तिकरायान्ति सहस्रादित्यतेजसे
One should recite: 'He who shines with the brilliance of a thousand suns.'
एवं न्यासविधिं कृत्वा ध्यायेन्नारायणं विभुम्
Having performed this rite of placement, one should meditate on Narayana, the all-pervading.
दधतं च करैर्भूमिश्रीभ्यां पार्श्वद्वयाञ्चितम्
He is holding the earth and Sri with his hands, with both sides adorned.
हारकेयूरवलयाङ्गदं पीतांबरं स्मरेत्
One should remember him adorned with necklace, armlets, bracelets, and yellow garments.
प्रथमेन तु लक्षेण स्वात्मशुद्धिर्भवेद् ध्रुवम्
By reciting one hundred thousand times at first, one's own self is surely purified.
लक्षत्रयेण जप्तेन स्वर्लोकमधिगच्छति
By reciting three hundred thousand times, one attains the world of heaven.
तथा च निर्मलं ज्ञानं पञ्चलक्षजपाद्भवेत्
Likewise, pure knowledge arises from reciting five hundred thousand times.
सप्तलक्षजपान्मन्त्री विष्णोः सारूप्यमाप्नुयात्
By reciting seven hundred thousand times, the priest attains similarity with Vishnu.
एवं जप्त्वा ततः प्राज्ञो दशांशं सरसीरुहैः
Having thus recited, then the wise one offers ten parts with lotus flowers.
मण्डूकात्परतत्वान्तं पीठे संपूज्य यत्नतः
From the frog to the ultimate principle, he worships on the seat with care.
प्रह्वी सत्या तथेशाननुग्रहा नवमी मता
Humbly, with truth, and by the favor of the Lord, the ninth is considered.
तात्मने वासुदेवाय सर्वात्मेति पदं वदेत्
For himself, to Vāsudeva, he should utter the word: 'All is the Self.'
षड्विंशदक्षरः पीठमन्त्रो ऽनेनासनं दिशेत्
With the twenty-six syllable seat-mantra, he should assign the seat by this.
आदौ चाङ्गानि संपूज्य मन्त्राणां केशरेषु च
First, having worshipped the limbs, and also the roots of the mantras.
प्रद्युम्नमनिरुद्धं च शक्तीः कोणेष्वथार्चयेत्
He should worship Pradyumna and Aniruddha, and the powers at the corners.
हेमपीततमालेन्द्रनीलाभाः पीतवाससः
Golden, yellow, dark, sapphire-hued, wearing yellow garments.
सितकाञ्चनगोदुग्धदूर्वावर्णाश्च शक्तयः
White, golden, cow's milk, and durva grass colored are the powers.
पूजयेन्मुसलं खड्गं वनमालां यथाक्रमात्
He should worship the pestle, sword, and forest garland in order.
कुङ्कुमाभं समभ्यर्च्येद्वहिरग्रे खगेश्वरम्
He should worship the lord of birds outside, in front, resembling saffron.
मुक्तामाणिक्यसंकाशौ पश्चिमे ध्वजमपर्चयेत्
He should worship the banner in the west, shining like pearls and rubies.
