मङ्गलाय नमस्तुभ्यं धनसंतानहेतवे
Salutations to you, bringer of auspiciousness, cause of wealth and progeny.
मेषवाहन रुद्रात्मन्देहि पुत्रान्धनं यशः
O rider of the ram, soul of Rudra, grant me sons, wealth, and fame.
यथाशक्त्या प्रदाय स्वं गृह्णीयाद्ब्रणाशिषः
One should give according to one’s ability and receive the blessings of the Brahmins.
गुरवे दक्षिणां दत्त्वा भुञ्जीयात्तन्निवेदितम्
Having given the fee to the teacher, one should partake of what has been offered.
तिलैर्हेमं विधायाथ शतार्द्धं भोजयोद्द्विजान्
Having prepared gold with sesame seeds, one should feed a hundred and fifty Brahmins.
मण्डलस्थे घटे ऽभ्यर्च्येत्सुतसौभाग्यसिद्धये
One should worship the pot placed in the circle for the attainment of sons and good fortune.
ऋणनाशाय वित्तार्थं व्रतं कुर्यात्पुमानपि
A man should perform the vow for the removal of debts and for the sake of wealth.
अङ्गारकस्य गायत्रीं वक्ष्ये यजनसिद्धये
I shall declare the Gāyatrī of Aṅgāraka for the accomplishment of the rite.
शक्तिहस्ताय वर्णान्ते धीमहीति समुञ्चरेत्
At the end of the syllables, with 'dhīmahi', one should utter it for the one holding power in his hand.
भौमस्यैषा तु गायत्री जप्तुः सर्वेष्टसिद्धिदा
This is the Gāyatrī of Bhauma, which grants the fulfillment of all desires to the reciter.
फआन्तः कर्णेन्दुसंयुक्तो बुधो ङेंते हदन्तिमः
At the end is 'pha', joined with 'karṇa' and 'indu'; Budha ends with 'ha'.
पङ्क्तिश्छैदो देवता तु बुधः सर्वेष्टदो नृणाम्
The meter is Paṅkti, the deity is Budha, who grants all desired things to men.
वन्दे बुधं सदा भक्त्या पीताम्बरविभूषणम्
I always bow with devotion to Budha, adorned with yellow garments.
ध्यात्वेवं प्रजपेसहस्रं विजितेन्द्रियः
Having meditated thus, one should recite a thousand times, with the senses subdued.
अङ्गमातृदिशापालहेतिभिर्बुधमर्चयेत्
One should worship the wise one with offerings such as limbs, mothers, directions, guardians, and weapons.
सहस्रं प्रजपेन्मन्त्रं नित्यं दशदिनावधि
He should recite the mantra a thousand times daily for a period of ten days.
बुधस्याराधनं प्रोक्तं गुरोराराधनं शृणु
Thus is declared the worship of the wise; now listen to the worship of the teacher.
नमोन्तो वसुवर्णो ऽयं मुनिर्ब्रह्मास्य संमतः
This sage, Vasuvarṇa by name, is to be saluted; he is esteemed as Brahmā.
हृच्छक्तिर्दीर्घवह्नीन्दुयुगलेनाङ्गकल्पना
His heart is power; his limbs are formed by the pair of the long fire and the moon.
किरन्तं पीतपुष्पालङ्कारालेपांशुकार्चितम्
He is adorned with yellow flowers, anointed, clothed, and worshipped, radiating light.
लक्षं जपो दशांशेन घृतेनान्नेन वा हुनेत्
Having recited a hundred thousand times, one should offer a tenth part with ghee or food.
एवं सिद्धे मनौ मन्त्री साधयेदिष्टमात्मनः
Thus, when the mantra is perfected, the practitioner should accomplish his desired aim.
पिप्पलोत्थसमिद्भिश्च जुहुयात्तन्निवृत्तये
He should offer oblations with sticks from the pippala tree for the removal of obstacles.
स विंशतिशतं शीघ्रं वासांसि लभते महीम्
He quickly obtains two thousand garments and the earth.
वस्रं मे देहि शुक्राय ठद्वयान्तो ध्रुवादिकः
"Give me a garment, O Shukra!"—this is the mantra, ending with the two 'ṭha's, beginning with 'dhruva'.
दैत्येज्यो देवता बीजं ध्रुवः शक्तिर्वसुप्रिया
The Daitya is to be invoked, the seed is the deity, 'dhruva' is the power, and 'vasupriyā' is dear to wealth.
शुक्लांबरालेपभूषं करेण ददतं धनम्
Clothed in white, anointed and adorned, giving wealth with his hand.
अयुतं प्रजपेन्मन्त्रं दशांशं जुहुयाद् घृतैः
He should recite the mantra ten thousand times and offer a tenth part with ghee.
श्वेतपुष्पैः सुगन्धैश्च जुहुयाद् भृगुवासरे
He should offer with white, fragrant flowers on the day of Bhṛgu (Friday).
मनवो ऽमो सदा गोप्या न देया यस्य कस्यचित्
These mantras must always be kept secret and not given to just anyone.
