वाजी वृषो हंसकूर्मौं वाहनानि विदुर्बुधाः
Wise men know that the horse, bull, swan, and tortoise are their vehicles.
त्रिशूलं पद्मचक्रे च क्रमादिन्द्रादिहेतयः
The trident, lotus, and discus are, in order, the weapons of Indra and others.
शङ्खतोयं परिक्षिप्योद्वाहुर्नृत्यन् पतेत्क्षितौ
Sprinkle water from the conch, and the carrier, dancing, should fall to the ground.
दक्षिणे स्थण्डिलं कृत्वा तत्र संस्कारमाचरेत्
Having made a sacred spot to the south, one should perform the ritual there.
कुशैस्तद्वर्मणाभ्युक्ष्य पूज्य तत्र न्यसेद्वसुम्
Having sprinkled that place with sacred kuśa grass and water, and having worshipped, one should place the wealth there.
महाव्याहृतिभिर्यस्तु समस्ताभिश्चतुष्टयम्
He who, with the great vyāhṛtis, offers all four together—
सघृतैः साधकश्रेष्ठः पञ्चविंशतिसंख्यया
—with clarified butter, O best of practitioners, in the number of twenty-five—
देवं संयोजयेन्मूर्तौं ततो वह्निं विसर्जयेत्
—should unite the deity with the image, and then dismiss the fire.
कर्मान्तरे ऽपि संप्राप्ते सान्निध्यं कुरु सादरम्
Even when another rite arises, perform the invocation with respect.
अवशिष्टेन हविषा गन्धपुष्पाक्षतान्वितम्
With the remaining oblation, accompanied by fragrance, flowers, and unbroken rice—
ये रौद्रा रौद्रकर्माणो रौद्रस्थाननिवासिनः
—those fierce beings, performers of fierce acts, dwellers in fierce places—
विघ्नभूतास्तथा चान्ये दिग्विदिक्षु समाश्रिताःग
—and other obstacles, likewise, who are established in all directions—
इत्यष्टदिक्षु दत्वा च पुनर्भूतबलिं चरेत्
—having offered (to them) in the eight directions, one should again perform the offering to the spirits.
देवतायाः करे दद्यात्पुनश्चाचमनीयकम्
One should place in the hand of the deity again water for sipping.
नैवेद्यं च ततो दद्यात्तत्तदुच्छिष्टभोजिने
Then one should offer the food, and to those who eat the remnants, give what remains.
शक्तेरुच्छिष्टचाण्डाली प्रोक्ता उच्छिष्टभोजिनः
The one who eats the remnants of Śakti is called a caṇḍālī; those who eat the remnants are so designated.
जप्त्वा मन्त्रं यथाशक्ति देवतायै निवेदयेत्
Having recited the mantra as able, one should present (the offering) to the deity.
सिद्धिर्भवतु मे देव त्वत्प्रसादात्त्वयि स्थिता
May accomplishment be mine, O God, by Your grace, for it rests in You.
मनसा वचसा चेति प्रणामो ऽष्टाङ्ग ईरितः
By mind and by speech, thus is the eight-limbed salutation declared.
पञ्चाङ्गकः प्रणामः स्यात्पूजायां प्रवरावुभौ
In worship, the salutation with five limbs is also considered excellent.
विष्मुसोमार्कविघ्नानां वेदार्धेन्द्वद्रिवह्नयः
Of Viṣṇu, Soma, the Sun, and the Removers of Obstacles, the Vedas, the moon, the mountain, and the fires—
इतः पूर्णं प्राणबुद्धिदेहधर्माधिकारतः
From here, fullness arises due to the authority of life, intellect, body, and dharma.
वाचा हस्ताभ्यां च पद्भ्या मुदरेण ततः परम्
By speech, by the hands, by the feet, and then by the belly,
तत्सर्वं च ततो ब्रह्मर्पणं भवतु ठद्वयम्
Let all of that, therefore, be an offering to Brahman, both the fixed and the moving.
तारं तत्सदतो ब्रह्मर्पणमस्तु मनुर्मतः
Let the utterance, the true, and the good likewise be an offering to Brahman, as declared by Manu.
अज्ञानाद्वा प्रमादाद्वा वैकल्यात्साधनस्य च
Whether through ignorance, or through carelessness, or due to deficiency in the means,
द्रव्यहीनं क्रियाहीनं मन्त्रहीनं मयान्यथा
If, by me, anything is done lacking materials, lacking proper action, or lacking mantra,
यन्मया क्रियते कर्म जाग्रत्स्वप्रसुषुप्तिषु
Whatever act is performed by me, whether in waking, dreaming, or deep sleep,
भूमौ स्खलितपादानां भूमिरेवावलंबनम्
For those whose feet slip on the earth, the earth itself is their support.
अन्यथा शरणं नास्ति त्वमेव शरणं मम
There is no other refuge; you alone are my refuge.
