आगतो देवदेवेशः सुखागतमिदं पुनः
The Lord of gods has arrived; may this coming be joyful once again.
तस्मै मे परणाब्जाय पाद्यं शुद्धाय कल्प्यते
For that lotus-born Supreme One, I prepare pure water for washing the feet.
आचामं कल्पयामीश शुद्धानां शुद्धिहेतवे
I offer water for sipping, O Lord, for the sake of purity for the pure.
तापत्रयविनिर्मुक्त्यै तवार्घ्यं कल्पयाम्यहम्
To free you from the threefold afflictions, I offer you arghya.
मधुपर्कमिदं देव कल्पयामि प्रसीद मे
I prepare this madhuparka, O God; be pleased with me.
शुद्धिमाप्नोति तस्मै ते पुनराचमनीयकम्
For you, who have attained purity, I again offer water for sipping.
सर्वलोकेषु शुद्धात्मन्ददामि स्नेहमुत्तमम्
To the pure-souled one in all worlds, I give the highest affection.
सहस्रं वा शतं वापि यथाशक्त्यादरेण च
Whether a thousand or a hundred, according to one's ability and with reverence,
गन्धपुष्पादिकैरीश मनुनां चाभिषिञ्चेत्
O Lord, one should anoint the idols of the Manus with fragrant flowers and similar offerings.
निरावरणविज्ञान वासस्ते कल्पयाम्यहम्
I arrange for your garment, O knower of unobstructed wisdom.
तस्मै ते परमेशाय कल्पयाम्युत्तरीयकम्
For you, the Supreme Lord, I prepare the upper cloth.
तैलादिदूषितं जीर्णं सच्छिद्रं मलिनं त्यजेत्
One must discard garments that are soiled with oil and similar substances, worn out, torn, or dirty.
यज्ञसूत्राय तस्मै ते यज्ञसूत्रं प्रकल्पये
For you, I arrange the sacred thread for the yajña.
भूषणानि विचित्राणि कल्पयाम्यमरार्चित
I offer various ornaments, honored by the immortals.
गृहाण परम गन्ध कृपया परमेश्वर
Receive, O Supreme Lord, the highest fragrance with compassion.
जपाक्षतार्कधत्तूरान्विष्णौ नैवार्पयेत्क्वचित्
One should never offer hibiscus, unbroken rice, arka, or datura to Viṣṇu.
मालतीपुष्पक चैव नार्पयेत्तु महेश्वरे
Nor should one offer mālatī flowers to Maheśvara.
शक्तौ दूर्वार्कमन्दारान् गणेशे तुलसीं त्यजेत्
For Śakti, one should offer dūrvā, arka, and mandāra; for Gaṇeśa, tulasī must be avoided.
विष्णुक्रान्ता नागवल्ली दूर्वापामार्गदाडिमौ
Viṣṇukrāntā, nāgavallī, dūrvā, apāmārga, and pomegranate—
कदली बदरी धात्री तिन्तिणी बीजपूरकम्
Banana, jujube, amla, tamarind, and citron—
एतेषां तु फलैः कुर्याद्देवतापूजनं बुधः
A wise person should worship the deities with the fruits of these.
शुष्कैस्तु नार्चयेद्देवं पत्रैः पुष्पैः फलैरपि
One should not worship the deity with dried leaves, flowers, or fruits.
छिन्नभिन्नान्यपि मुने न दूष्याणि जगुर्बुधाः
O sage, even if leaves are cut or broken, the wise say they are not impure.
सर्वदा तुलसी शुद्धा बिल्वपत्राणि वै तथा
Tulasī is always pure, as are bilva leaves.
छात्रीदलैश्च दूर्वाभिर्नार्चयेज्जगदंबिकाम्
One should not worship Jagadambikā with umbrella-shaped leaves or dūrvā grass.
पुष्पपत्रादिकं विप्र यथोत्पन्नं तथार्पयेत्
O brāhmaṇa, one should offer flowers, leaves, and similar items just as they are obtained.
आघ्रेयं देवदेवेश धूपं भक्त्या गृहाम मे
O Lord of the gods, accept this fragrant incense from me with devotion.
घृतवर्तिसमायुक्तं गृहाण मम सत्कृतम्
Accept this lamp, prepared with ghee wicks, which I offer with respect.
भक्त्या गृहाण मे देव नैवेद्यन्तुष्टिदंसदा
With devotion, accept from me, O Lord, this food offering that always brings satisfaction.
कर्पूरादिसुगन्धाढ्यं यद्दत्तं तद्गृहाण मे
Accept from me whatever is given, enriched with the fragrance of camphor and other scents.
