सामान्यार्घमिदं प्रोक्तं सर्वसिद्धिकरं नृणाम्
This is declared to be the general arghya, bestowing all accomplishments upon men.
आत्मानं यागवस्तूनि तेन संप्रोक्षयेत्पुथक्
With that, he should sprinkle himself and the sacrificial objects separately.
चतुरस्रेण संवेष्ट्य संक्षाल्यार्घोदकेन च
Encircling with a square, and washing with the arghya water,
आग्नेयादिषु कोणेषु हृदाद्यङ्गचतुष्टयम्
in the corners beginning with the southeast, the four limbs starting with the heart,
मूलखण्डत्रयेनाथाधारशक्तिं तु मध्यगाम्
with the three root sections, he should establish the supporting power in the center.
प्रतिष्टाप्य त्रिपदिकां पूजयेन्मनुनामुना
Having established the three-footed one, he should worship with the prescribed mantra.
अमुकार्ध्येति पात्रान्ते सनापहृदयोंऽतिमे
At the end of the vessel, saying 'This is the arghya for so-and-so,' with the heart purified,
स्वमन्त्रक्षालितं शरंवं संस्याप्याय समर्चयेत्
having purified the arrow with his own mantra, he should place it there and worship.
वर्म फट् हृदयं पाञ्चजन्याय हृदयं मनेः
The armor is 'phaṭ,' the heart is for Pāñcajanya; the heart belongs to the mantra.
अमुकार्ध्येति पात्रान्ते नमोन्तस्त्र्यक्षिवर्णवान्
At the end of the vessel, saying 'This is the arghya for so-and-so,' bowing, with the three-syllabled letter.
ततः शुद्धजलैर्मूलं विलोममातृकां पठन्
Then, with pure waters, reciting the reversed sequence of letters, he should purify the root.
ॐ सोममण्डलायेति षोडशान्ते कलात्मने
Reciting 'Om, to the circle of Soma,' to the one whose essence is the sixteen parts.
तत्र षोडशसंख्याका यजेञ्चन्द्रमसः कलाः
There, sixteen phases of the Moon are to be worshipped.
गोमुद्रयामृतीकृत्याच्छादयेन्मत्स्ममुद्रया
One should make the gomudra into nectar and cover it with the matsya-mudra.
चिन्तयित्वेष्टदेवं च ततो मुद्राः प्रदर्शयेत्
Having meditated on the desired deity, then display the mudras.
महामुद्रां योनिमुद्रां दर्शयेत्क्रमतः सुधीः
The wise should show the Mahāmudrā and Yonimudrā in order.
गन्धपुष्पादिभिस्तत्र पूजयेद्देवतां स्मरनट्
There, worship the deity with fragrance, flowers, and the like, remembering.
शङ्खाद्दक्षिणदिग्भागे प्रोक्षणीपात्रमादिशेत्
On the southern side of the conch, designate the vessel for sprinkling.
आत्मतत्त्वात्मने हृञ्च विद्यातत्त्वात्मने नमः
Salutation to the essence of the self, hṛṃ; salutation to the essence of knowledge.
प्रोक्षेत्पुष्पाक्षतैश्चापि मण्डलं विधिवत्सुधीः
The wise should sprinkle the maṇḍala with flowers and rice grains, according to the rite.
पाद्यार्ध्याचमनूयार्थं मधुपर्कार्थमप्युत
For the purposes of pādya, arghya, and ācamana, and also for madhuparka.
पाद्यं श्यामाकदूर्वाब्जविष्णुक्रान्तजलैः स्मृतम्
Pādya is considered to be water with śyāmāka, dūrvā grass, lotus, and viṣṇukrānta.
गन्धदूर्वादलैः प्रोक्तं ततश्चाचमनीयकम्
Arghya is said to be with fragrance and dūrvā leaves; then comes the water for ācamana.
क्षौद्राज्यदधिसंमिश्रं मधुपर्कसमीरितम्
Madhuparka is described as mixed with honey, ghee, and curd.
शङ्करार्कार्चने शङ्खमयेनैव प्रशस्यते
For worship of Śaṅkara and the Sun, a conch vessel is especially recommended.
रक्तांबराभयकराध्येयाःस्पुः पीठशक्तयः
The seat powers are to be meditated upon as wearing red garments and holding the gesture of fearlessness.
विधिना स्थापितायां वा प्रतिमायां प्रपूजयेत्
One should worship the image that has been established according to the rite.
निर्मिता शुभदा गेहे पूजनाय दिने दिने
An image made auspiciously at home is to be worshipped daily.
स्पष्टां वाप्य न्त्यजाद्यैश्च प्रतिमां नैव पूजयेत्
One should not worship an image that is unclear or defective in any way.
मूलेन मूर्तिं संकल्प्य ध्यात्वा देवं यथोदितम्
Having conceived the form with the root, meditate on the deity as described.
