वन्ध्याकुञ्जककाषायमुक्तकेशबुभुक्षितैः
Or barren women, monkeys, those wearing ochre robes, people with loose hair, or those who are hungry,
प्रज्वलाग्नीन्सुतुरगनृपासनपुराङ्गनाः
Or blazing fires, sons, kings, seats, or women of the city,
भक्ष्येक्षुफलमृत्स्नान्नमध्वाज्यदधिगोदयाः
Or food, sugarcane, fruits, clay, honey, ghee, curds, cows, or streams of water,
पुण्यस्त्रीपुण्यकलशरत्नभृङ्गारगोद्विजाः
Or virtuous women, auspicious pots, gems, bees, cows, or twice-born (Brahmins),
वेदमङ्गलघोषाः स्युः या यिनां कार्यसिद्धिदाः
Or the sounds of the Veda and auspicious music—these bring success to the undertakings of those who set out.
स्मृत्वा द्वितीये विप्राणां कृत्वा पूजां निवर्तयेत्
Remembering this, on the second day, one should worship the Brahmins and then return.
अफलं यद्बालवृद्धरोगिपैनसिकैः कृतम्
Whatever is done by children, the elderly, the sick, or those with nasal disease is fruitless.
हन्यात्परपुरप्राप्तो न स्त्रीर्नित्यं निरायुधान्
If one enters another’s city, he should not kill women, nor those who are always unarmed.
विधाय पूर्वदिवसे वास्तुपूजाबलिक्रियाम्
Having performed the rituals of house-worship and offering on the previous day,
प्रवेशो मध्यमो ज्ञेयः सौम्यकार्तिकमासयोः
The entry during the middle of the day is to be considered proper in the auspicious months of Saumya and Kartika.
शुभः प्रेवशो देवेज्यशुक्रयोर्द्दृश्यमानयोः
Entry is auspicious when the planets Jupiter and Venus are visible.
दिवा वा यदि वा रात्रौ प्रवेशो मङ्गलप्रदः
Whether by day or by night, entry at such a time brings good fortune.
स्थिरलग्ने स्थिरांशे च नैधने शुद्धिसंयुते
When the ascendant is fixed, and the fixed sign is in the eighth house, and the death is joined with purity,
लग्रान्त्याष्टमषष्टस्थवर्जितेन द्वियांशुना
With the Moon in the second degree, not occupying the eighth or sixth from the ascendant's end,
प्रवेशल्ग्ने स्यामृद्धिरन्यभेशोकनिःस्वता
If the entry ascendant is strong, there will be prosperity; otherwise, there will be sorrow and poverty from other lords.
कृत्वार्कं वामतो विद्वान्भृङ्गारं चाग्रतो विशेत्
The wise should place the Sun to the left and the black bee in front before entering.
केन्द्रगे वा शुक्लपक्षे चातिवृष्टिः शुभेक्षिते
If in a kendra, or during the bright fortnight, and aspected by benefics, there will be excessive rain.
चन्द्रश्चेद्धार्गवे सर्वमेवंविध गुणान्विते
If the Moon is with Mars, and all such qualities are present,
मन्दात्र्रिकोणसप्तस्थो यदि वा वृद्धिकृद्भवेत्
If Saturn is in the trine or seventh, or otherwise, he becomes the cause of increase.
तयोर्ंमध्यगते भानौ भवेद्ष्टिविनाशनम्
If the Sun is between those two, there will be destruction of what is desired.
प्रवर्षणं भृगुः कुर्याद्विपरीते न वर्षणम्
Venus causes rain; if the opposite, there is no rain.
तदा वृष्टिं प्रकुर्वन्ति न ते चेत्प्रतिलोमगाः
Then they produce rain, but not if they are moving in reverse order.
उदयास्तेषु वृष्टिः स्याद्भानोरार्द्राप्रवेशने
When the Sun enters Ardra, there will be rain at their rising.
स्तोकवृष्टिरनर्घः स्यादवृष्टिः सस्यसंपदः
If there is little rain, crops will be priceless; if there is no rain, there will be abundance of produce.
चन्द्रेज्ये ज्ञेथ वा शुक्रे केन्द्रेन्बीतिर्विनश्यति
One should know, if the Moon or Venus is in a kendra, the obstruction is destroyed.
वर्षत्यार्द्रादिमृलान्तं प्रत्यक्षं प्रत्यहं तथा
It rains from Ardra to Mrigashirsha, and so on, visibly, day by day.
सिंहे भिन्ने कुजो वृष्टिरभिन्ने कर्कटे तथा
If Mars is in Leo, divided, there is rain; likewise, if undivided, in Cancer.
अहिर्बुध्न्यं पूर्वशस्यं परशस्या च रेवती
Ahirbudhnya is for the eastern harvest, and Revati for the later harvest.
गुरोः सप्तमरा तिस्थः प्रत्यग्गो भृगुजो यदा
When Jupiter is in the seventh, and Venus is retrograde,
आसप्तमर्क्षंशशिनः परिवेशगतोत्तरा
Up to the seventh sign from the Moon, the latter ones are surrounded.
