जीवं लग्नगते शुक्रे केन्द्रे वापि त्रिकोणगे
If Jupiter is in the ascendant with Venus, or in a quadrant or trine,
लग्नगे ज्ञे शुभे केन्द्रे धिष्ण्ये चोपकुले गतः
If Mercury is in the ascendant, a benefic in a quadrant, or in a powerful house,
शुभि त्रिकोणे केन्द्रस्थे लाभे चन्द्रे ऽथवा रवी
If a benefic is in a trine, a planet is in a quadrant, and the Moon or Sun is in the eleventh,
स्वक्षेत्रगे शुभे कद्रे त्रिकोणोयगते गतः
If a benefic is in its own sign, in a quadrant, or in a trine,
इन्दौ स्वस्थे गुरौ केन्द्रे मन्त्रः सप्रणवो गतः
If the Moon is in its own sign, Jupiter is in a quadrant, and the mantra with the sacred syllable is present,
वर्गोत्तमगते शुक्रे ऽप्येवस्मिन्नेव लग्नगे
If Venus is in Vargottama, or likewise in the ascendant,
शुभे केन्द्रे त्रिकोणस्थे चन्द्रे वर्गोत्तमे गतः
If a benefic is in a quadrant or trine, and the Moon is in Vargottama,
मित्रभे ऽथ गुरौ केन्द्रे त्रिकोणस्थे ऽथ वा सिते
If in the house of friends, or Jupiter is in a quadrant or trine, or Saturn is in such a position,
शुभकद्रत्रिकोणस्थे वर्गोत्तमगते गतः
If a benefic is in a quadrant or trine, and is in Vargottama,
ये नृपा यान्त्यरीञ्जेतुं तेषां योगैर्नृपाह्वयैः
Those kings who go to conquer enemies, for them there are royal yogas,
बलक्षयपक्षदशमीमासीषे विजयाभिधा
The tenth day of the waning fortnight is called the day of victory.
निमित्तशकुनादिभ्यः प्रधानं हि मनोदयः

उत्सवोपनयोद्वाहप्रतिष्टाशौचसूतके

घृतान्नं तिलपिष्टान्नं मत्स्यान्नं घृतपायसम्
Ghee-cooked food, food made of sesame flour, fish dishes, and rice cooked with ghee,
सज्जिका परमान्नं च काञ्जिक च पयो दधि
Sajjikā, paramānna, sour gruel, milk, and curd,
कुल्माषांश्च तिलान्नं च दधि क्षौद्रं घृतं पयः
One should offer roasted barley, sesame food, curd, honey, ghee, and milk.
शशमांसं च षाष्टिक्यं प्रियगुङ्कमपूपकम्
Also hare meat, rice of sixty days, priyangu seeds, and cakes.
हविष्यं कृशरान्नं च मुद्गान्नं यवपिष्टिकम्
Sacrificial food, gruel, mung bean food, and barley flour.
भुक्त्वा राजेभाश्वरथनरैर्याति जयत्यरीन्
Having eaten, he proceeds with kings, elephants, horses, and chariots, conquering his enemies.
प्रणम्य देवभूदेवानाशीर्वादैर्नृपो व्रजेत्
After bowing to the gods and brahmins, the king should depart with their blessings.
इन्द्रमैरावतारूढं शच्या सह विराजितम्
He should contemplate Indra, resplendent, mounted on Airavata, together with Shachi.
सप्तहस्तं सप्तजिह्वं षण्मुखं मेषवाहनम्
He should contemplate the seven-handed, seven-tongued, six-faced one, riding a ram.
दण्डायुधं लोहितार्क्षं यमं महिषवाहनम्
Yama, armed with a staff, red-eyed, riding a buffalo.
खड्गचर्मधरं नीलं निरृतिं नखाहनम्
Nirrti, dark, bearing sword and shield, who strikes with nails.
नागपाशधरं पीतवर्णं मकरवाहनम्
Varuna, holding a serpent-noose, yellow in color, riding a makara.
प्राणिनां प्राणरूपं तं द्विबाहुं दण्डपाणिकम्
That two-armed, staff-bearing form, the very life of living beings.
अश्वारूढं कुंभपाणिं द्विबाहुं स्वर्णसन्निभम्
The two-armed, golden-hued one, mounted on a horse, holding a pot.
पिनाकिनं वृषारूढं गौरीपतिमनुत्तम्
The wielder of Pinaka, mounted on a bull, the matchless lord of Gauri.
अप्रयाणे स्वयं कार्या प्रेक्षया भूभुजस्तथा
When not departing, the king himself should observe as well.
