स्नानागारं दिशि प्राच्यामाग्नेय्यां पाकमन्दिरम्
The bathing room should be in the eastern direction, and the kitchen in the southeast.
प्रतीच्यां भोजनगृहं वा यव्यां धान्यमदिरम्
In the west, the dining room, or in the northwest, the granary and wine cellar.
शय्यामूत्रास्त्रतद्विच्च भोजनं मङ्गलाश्रयम्
The bed, urinal, weapons, and related items, as well as the dining area, should be auspiciously placed.
ईशान्यादिक्रमस्तेषां गृहनिर्माणकं शुभम्
Their order begins from the northeast; this is the auspicious construction of a house.
ध्वजो धूम्रोथ सिंहः श्वा सौरमेयः खरो गजाः
A flag, smoke, lion, dog, mongrel, donkey, and elephants.
प्लक्षोदुंबरचूताख्या निंबस्तु हि विभीतकाः
Plakṣa, udumbara, mango, neem, and vibhītaka trees.
अगस्तिसिंधुवालाख्यतिन्तिडीकाश्च निन्दिताः
Agasti, Sindhu, Vālākhyā, and Tintiḍīkā are considered blameworthy.
गृहपादागृहस्तभाः समाः शस्ताश्च नासमाः
House thresholds and pillars are proper if equal; those not equal are improper.
गृहोपरि गृहादीनामेवं सर्वत्र चिन्तयेत्
One should consider this for all houses built above or upon another house.
पाञ्चालमानं वैदेहं कौरवं च कुजन्यकम्
The measurements called Pāñcāla, Vaideha, Kaurava, and Kujanya are specified.
सचतुर्भागविस्तारमुत्सेधं यत्तदुच्यते
The extent with four parts and the elevation is what is stated.
वैदेहादीन्यशेषाणि मानानि स्युर्यथाक्रमम्

अवन्तिमानं विप्राणां गान्धारं क्षत्रियस्य च

यथोदितं जलस्त्राव्यं द्वित्रिभूमिकवेश्मनाम्
As described, water should be sprinkled for houses with two or three stories.
पशुशालाश्च शालानां ध्वजायेप्यथ वा गजे
Animal sheds, halls, and flagposts, or for elephants, likewise.
वास्तुपूजाविधिं वक्ष्ये नववेश्मप्रवेशने

गृहमध्ये तण्डुलोपर्येकाशीतिपदं भवेत्
In the center of the house, above rice grains, there should be eighty-one squares.

Thirty-two are to be worshipped, and within them reside eleven deities.
ईशानकोणतो बाह्यो द्वात्रिंशत्र्रिदशा अमी
From the northeast corner, outside, these thirty-two deities are present.
सूर्यः शशी मृगाकाशौ वायुः पूषा च नैरृतिः
The Sun, Moon, Mriga, Ākāśa, Vāyu, Pūṣā, and Nairṛti.
मृगः पितृगणाधिशस्ततो दौवारि काह्वयः
Mriga, the lord of the ancestors, then Dauvāri and Kāhvaya.
अथेशानादिकोणस्थाश्चात्वारस्तत्समीपगाः
And four deities situated near the northeast corner.
एकान्तरा स्युः प्रागाद्याः परितो ब्रह्मणः स्मृताः
Those beginning from the east are placed at intervals, all around Brahma.
मित्रोथ राजयक्ष्मा च तथा पृथ्वीधराह्वयः
Mitra, Rājayakṣmā, and also the one called Pṛthvīdhara.
आपश्चैवापवत्सश्च पर्जन्यो ऽग्निर्दितिः क्रमात्
Water, the calf, the rain-cloud, fire, and Aditi, in order.

Should perform, in order, all the upacaras beginning with invocation.
ताम्बूलं च ततः कर्ता प्रार्थयेद्वास्तुपूरुषम्
Then, the performer should offer betel and pray to the Vastu-purusha.
