सूर्येण संयुते चन्द्रे दारिद्यं भवति स्फुटम्
When the Moon is conjoined with the Sun, poverty certainly arises.
दौर्भाग्यं गुरुणा युक्ते सापत्यं भार्गवेण तु
When joined with Jupiter, misfortune occurs; with Venus, loss of offspring results.
केतुना संयुते चन्द्रे नित्यं कष्टं दरिद्रता
When the Moon is joined with Ketu, there is always suffering and poverty.
शुभग्रहयुते चन्द्रे स्वोच्चस्थे मित्रराशिगे

In marriage and such, those are to be avoided, even if endowed with countless virtues.
अपि सर्वगुणोपेतास्ते वर्ज्याः सर्वमङ्गले
Even if possessed of all good qualities, they are to be avoided in all auspicious acts.
अपिशुक्रेज्यसंयुक्तं विषसंयुक्तदुग्धवत्
Even if joined with Śukra and Ijya, it is like milk mixed with poison.
यावच्च शशिना भुक्त्वा मुक्तभं दग्धकाष्टवत्
As long as the moon has consumed it, it is like burnt wood that has been released.
अखिलर्क्षं पञ्चगव्यं सुराबिन्दुयुतं तथा
All constellations, five products of the cow, and those joined with a drop of liquor likewise.
क्रूरविद्धं युतं धिष्ण्यं निखिलं नैव मङ्गलम्
Pierced by the cruel, joined with the altar, all these are certainly not auspicious.
