एतत्पुंसामयुग्मे ऽब्दे व्यत्ययेनाशनं तयोः
In the pair of years of a man, food should be alternated between them.

तृतीयः पापषड्वर्गो भृगुः षष्टः कुजो ऽष्टमः
The third is the group of six malefic influences; Venus in the sixth, Mars in the eighth.
दंपत्योरष्टमं लग्नं राशिर्विषघटी तथा
The ascendant in the eighth from either spouse, or the sign associated with poison, are also faults.
ग्रहणोत्पातभं क्रूरविद्धर्क्षं क्रूरसंयुतम्
An eclipse, an evil omen, a cruelly aspected sign, or conjunction with malefics are faults as well.
तिथिवारर्क्षयोगानां करणस्य च मेलनम्
The combination of lunar day, weekday, constellation, yoga, and karaṇa is also to be considered.
यस्मिन्पञ्चाङ्गदोषो ऽस्ति तस्मिंल्लग्ने निरर्थकम्
If there is a fault in any of the five limbs, the ascendant at that time is fruitless.
लग्नलग्नांशकौ स्वस्वपतिना वीक्षितौ युतौ
If the ascendant and its corresponding division are aspected or joined by their respective lords,
