एकादश्यामिन्दुवारो द्वादश्यामर्कवासरः
On the eleventh lunar day, Monday; on the twelfth, Sunday.
नवमी पञ्चमी भौमे दग्धयोगाः प्रकीर्तिताः
The ninth and fifth lunar days on Tuesday are called burnt conjunctions.
बुधे श्रविष्टार्यमभे गुरौ ज्येष्टा भृगोर्दिने
On Wednesday, Śraviṣṭā and Aryamabha; on Thursday, Jyeṣṭā and Bhṛgu's day.
विशाखादिचतुर्वर्गमर्कमर्कवारादिषु क्रमात्
From Viśākhā onward, the four groups, in order, for the Sun and Sunday, etc.
तिथिवारोद्भवा नेष्टा योगा वारर्क्षसंभवाः
The combinations arising from the day and lunar date are not auspicious, nor are the conjunctions formed by the day and the constellation.
घोराष्टाक्षीमहोदर्यो मन्दा मन्दाकिनी तथा
Fierce, eight-eyed, great-bellied, slow, and also Mandākinī (the slow-flowing one)—
शूद्रतस्करवैश्यक्ष्मादेवभूपगवां क्रमात्
In order: Śūdra, thief, Vaiśya, earth, deity, king, and cow.
पूर्वाह्ने नृपतीन्हन्ति विप्रान्मध्यन्दिने विशः
In the forenoon, it harms kings; at midday, it harms Brāhmaṇas; in the afternoon, common people.
निशि रात्रिचरान्नाट्यकारानपररात्रिके
At night, it harms night-wanderers, actors, and those active in the latter part of the night.
दिवा चेन्मेषसंक्रान्तिरनर्थकलहप्रदा
If the Sun enters Aries during the day, it brings misfortune and conflict.
अश्वश्पवाजवृषाः पादायुधाः करणवाहनाः
Horses, dogs, camels, bulls, foot-soldiers, weapons, tools, and vehicles—
भुशुडी च गदाखड्गौ दण्ड इषअवासतोमरौ
Clubs, maces, swords, staffs, arrows, bows, and spears—
अन्नं च पायसं भैक्ष्यं सयूषं च पयो दधि
Food, rice pudding, alms, soup, milk, and curd—
ववोवीवणिजेविश्वां बालवे गोचरस्थितौ
Cows, merchants, all people, children, and those who dwell among cattle—
चतुः पादे तिलेनागे सुप्तः क्रान्तिं करोति हि
If a four-footed animal, a sesame, or a serpent lies sleeping, it causes a change.
आयुधं वाहनाहारौ यज्जातीयं जनस्य च
Weapons, vehicles, food, and whatever pertains to a person's caste—
अन्धकं मन्दसंज्ञं च मध्यसंज्ञं सुलोचनम्
Blind, slow-natured, of middling nature, and with beautiful eyes—
स्थिरभेष्वर्कसंक्रान्तिर्ज्ञेया विष्णुपदाह्वया
When the Sun enters a fixed sign, it is known as Viṣṇupada.
तुलाघटाजयोर्ज्ञेयो विषुवत्सूर्यसंक्रमः
The Sun's equinoctial passage is known at Libra and Aries.
मेध्या विषुवति प्रोक्ताः पुण्यनाड्यस्तु षोडश
At the equinox, sixteen auspicious channels are declared.
प्राक्पश्चाद्याम्यसौम्ये चेत्पुण्यं पूर्वांपरे ऽहनि
If the auspiciousness is in the east, west, south, or north, it is on the previous or following day.
नरः प्राप्नोति तद्राशौ शीतांशोः साध्वसाधु च
A person attains that sign of the Moon, whether good or bad.
रवेरयनसंक्रान्तिस्तदा तद्राशिसंक्रमात्
The transition of the Sun occurs then by the Sun's entry into that sign.
व्रतोद्वाहादिकेष्वेव द्वयं नेष्टं तु तत्क्रमात्
In the case of vows, marriages, and similar rites, both are not desirable according to that order.
तत्र हेम विनिक्षिप्य दद्याद्दोषापवृत्तयेः
There, by placing gold, one should give (it) for the removal of faults.
बली संक्रममाणस्तु तद्वत्खेटा बलाधिकाः
If the strong one is transiting, likewise the obstacles are more powerful.
नवपञ्चांबुरिष्फस्थैर्व्यर्किभिर्विध्यते न चेत्
If not afflicted by the nine, five, or three watery planets, or by malefics, then (it is auspicious).
यथेष्टान्त्यांबुधर्मस्थैविबुधैर्विध्यते न चेत्
If not afflicted by the gods at the end of the desired watery sign, established in their own dharma, then (it is auspicious).
व्ययेष्वङ्कस्थितैः सौरिसौम्यसूर्यैः शुभौषधात्
If, in the expenditures, Saturn, Mercury, or the Sun are stationed in the angles, with benefic herbs, then (it is auspicious).
धीत्र्यकादिगजान्तस्थैः शशाङ्करहितैः शुभैः
If stationed at the end of the sign of Dhītri, Yaka, or Gaja, and with auspicious planets except the Moon, then (it is auspicious).
