संभूतो ऽदितिभाद्वंशः पिप्पलः पुष्यसंभवः
The Aditibhādva lineage arises from the pippala tree, and Puṣya gives rise to the pippala as well.
पालाशो भाग्यभाज्जातः अक्षश्चार्यमसंभवः
The palāśa tree is born from Bhāgyabhāj, and the akṣa tree is from Aryaman.
स्वात्युक्षजोर्ऽजुनो वृक्षो द्विदैवत्याद्विकङ्कतः
In Svātī and Ukṣa, the arjuna tree; from Dvidaivatya, the vikankata tree.
सर्ज्जवृक्षो मूलभाञ्च वञ्जुलो वारिधिष्ण्यजः
The sarja tree is from Mūlabhā, and the vañjula tree arises from Vāridhiṣṇya.
वसुधिष्ण्याच्छमीवृक्षः कदंबो वारुणर्क्षजः
From Vasudhiṣṇya comes the śamī tree, and from Vāruṇarkṣa, the kadamba tree.
मधुवृक्षः पौष्णधिष्ण्याद्धिष्ण्यवृक्षाः प्रकीर्तिताः
The madhūka tree is from Pauṣṇadhiṣṇya; these are called the trees of the lunar mansions.
योगेशा यमविश्वेन्दुधातृजीवनिशाकराः
The lords of yoga are Yama, Viśve, Indu, Dhātṛ, Jīva, and Niśākara.
गणेशरुद्रधनदत्वष्ट्टमित्रषडाननाः
Gaṇeśa, Rudra, Dhanada, Tvaṣṭṛ, Mitra, and Ṣaḍānana are the deities.
वैधृतिश्च व्यतीपातो महापातावुभौ सदा
Vaidhṛti and Vyatīpāta are both considered great sins at all times.
विष्कंभवज्रयोस्तिस्रः षड्वा गण्डातिगण्डयाईः
Of Viṣkambha and Vajra, three are counted; of Gaṇḍa and Atigaṇḍa, six.
अदितीन्दुमधाह्यश्वमूलमैत्रेज्यभानि च
Aditi, Indu, Madhā, Ahya, Aśvamūla, Maitra, and Jya are also named.
लिखेदूर्ध्वगतामेकां तिर्यग्रेखास्त्रयोदश
One should draw one line going upward, and thirteen lines crossing horizontally.
भाज्यैकरेरवागतयोः सूर्याचन्द्रमसोर्मिथः
The paths of the Sun and Moon, whether ascending or descending, are to be divided by one.
विनाडीभिर्द्वादशभी रहितं घटिकाद्वयम्
Subtracting twelve vināḍīs, what remains is two ghaṭikās.
इन्द्रः प्रजापतिर्मित्रस्त्वष्टाभूहरितिप्रिया
Indra, Prajāpati, Mitra, Tvaṣṭṛ, Bhū, and Hari are dear.
बवादिवणिजान्तानि शुभानि करणानि षट्
The six auspicious Karaṇas are Bavā, Balava, Kaulava, Taitila, Gara, and Vaṇij.
मुखे पञ्चगले चैका वक्षस्येकादश स्मृतः
There are five at the mouth, one at the throat, and eleven are said to be at the chest.
कार्यहानिर्मुखे मृत्युर्गले वक्षसि निःस्वता
Loss of work occurs at the mouth, death at the throat, and poverty at the chest.
स्थिराणि मध्यमान्येषां मध्यनागचतुष्पदौ
Among these, the middle ones are stable; the middle of Nāga and Catuṣpada are also so.
विश्वेविधातृब्रह्मेन्द्ररुद्राग्निवसुतोयपाः
Viśve, Vidhātṛ, Brahman, Indra, Rudra, Agni, Vasu, and Toyapā are named.
ईशाजपादाहिर्बुध्न्यपूषाश्वियमवह्नयः
Īśa, Ajapāda, Ahibudhnya, Pūṣā, Aśvini, and Avahnaya are also included.
अह्नः पञ्चदशो भागस्तथा रात्रिप्रमाणतः
The fifteenth part of the day, and likewise by the measure of night.
अर्यमा राक्षसब्राह्नौ पित्र्याग्नेयौ तथाभिजित्
Aryaman, Rākṣasa, Brāhma, Pitrya, Agneya, and Abhijit are also named.
वारेषु वर्जनीयास्ते मुहूर्ताः शुभकर्मसु
These muhūrtas are to be avoided on days of auspicious acts.
तद्दैवत्ये मुहूर्ते ऽपि कार्यं यात्रादिकं सदा
But when the muhūrta is presided over by a deity, actions such as journeys may always be performed.
शूलो ऽष्टमे च दशमे शानिरष्टादशे ततः
Śūla is in the eighth and tenth, and Śāni is in the eighteenth thereafter.
निर्घातपातसंज्ञश्च ज्ञेयः स नवपञ्चमे
That which is known as the fall of thunderbolt should be understood in the ninth and fifth.
विज्ञेया एकविंशर्क्षादारभ्य च यथाक्रमम्
From the twenty-first constellation onward, each should be known in order.
सूर्यभात्सर्वपित्र्यर्क्षं त्वाष्ट्रमित्रप्तभेषु च
The solar, ancestral, and all pitṛ constellations, as well as the Tvaṣṭṛ, Mitra, and Ptabha constellations,
धिष्ण्ये तावति सत्यत्र दुष्टयोगः पतत्यसौ
In the dhiṣṇya, so many are present; here, when the conjunction is inauspicious, it falls.
