अनावृष्टिः सस्यहानिर्दुर्भिक्षं याम्यपर्वणि
There is drought, loss of crops, and famine at the southern conjunction.

नक्षत्रसंस्थिता दिव्या भौमा ये भूमिसंस्थिताः
Those that are divine are stationed among the stars; those that are earthly, upon the earth.
यावन्तो दिवसान्केतुर्दृश्यते विविधात्मकः
For as many days as a comet of various forms is seen—
ये दिव्याः केतवस्ते ऽपि शश्वज्जीवफलप्रदाः
Those comets that are divine always grant the fruits of life.
क्षिप्रादस्तमयं याति दीर्घकेतु रवृष्टिकृत्
A comet with a long tail that quickly sets causes drought.
द्वित्रिचतुःशूलरूपः स च राज्यान्तकृन्मतः
One having the form of two, three, or four prongs is considered the destroyer of kingdoms.
केतवश्चोदिताः पूर्वापरयोर्नृपहानिदाः

हुताशनोदितास्ते ऽपि केतवः फलदाः स्मृताः

ब्रह्मदण्डाद्धूमकेतुः प्रजानामन्तकृन्मतः

अनिष्टदाः पङ्गुसुता विशिखाः कमकाह्वयाः

आवर्तकेतुसंध्यायां शशिरो नेष्टदायकः

चान्द्रमार्क्षं गुरोर्मानमिति मानानि वै नवः
