पातालगे धर्मगे ऽब्जे शुभदृष्टे युते मुने
If the lord of the seventh, ninth, or twelfth is in the lotus, and aspected by benefics, O sage.
सौम्ये वीर्ययुतेंऽगस्थे बलाढ्येशुभगे शुभे
If a benefic, endowed with strength, is in the ascendant, and if there is abundance and auspiciousness.
मेषूरणायतनुगाः शशिसूर्यजसूरयः
Those who follow the paths of Aries and other signs are the children of the Moon, Sun, and other luminaries.
वृषेंऽगे ऽब्जोधनारिस्थो जीवार्की लांभगाः परे
In Taurus, the Moon is strong; in Libra, the Sun is exalted; in the remaining signs, the planets are situated accordingly.
लग्ने वक्रासितौ चन्द्रेज्यसितार्कबुधाः क्रमात्
In the ascendant, if Saturn is retrograde, then the Moon, Jupiter, Saturn, Sun, and Mercury are placed successively.
कर्मलग्नगरवेटस्य दशायां राज्यसंगतिः
When the period of the tenth house, the ascendant, or the house of action arises, there is attainment of sovereignty.
आसन्नकेन्द्रद्वयगैर्वर्गदाख्यः सकलग्रहैः
When all the planets occupy the two nearest angular houses, it is called the 'grouped' configuration.
शृङ्गाटकं धिगौगस्थैर्लग्नायस्थैर्हलं मतम्
When the planets are in the third, sixth, and eleventh houses from the ascendant, it is known as the 'plough' formation.
विमिश्रैः कमलं प्राहुर्वायाकण्टकबाह्यगैः
When the planets are mixed, and some are outside the houses of wind and thorns, it is called the 'lotus' formation.
द्यूनाद्वेदक्षगैः शक्तिर्ं दऽखादिचतुर्भगैः
When the planets are in the third, sixth, and eleventh houses from the ninth, it is called 'power'; when in the fourth, seventh, and tenth, it is called 'quadrant'.
छत्रमस्तात्स्वभाद्यायोन्यस्मादर्द्धेन्दुनामकः
When the umbrella is above, beginning from one's own sign, and from another, it is called 'half-moon' formation.
षह्युस्थानेषु वीणाद्याः समसप्तर्क्षगैः
When the planets are in the sixth, eighth, and twelfth houses, the formations such as 'lute' arise, with all seven planets involved.
ग्रहैःश्चरभगै राजयोगः प्रकीर्तितः
When the planets are in movable signs, it is said to be a royal yoga.
भाला केन्द्रस्थितैः सौम्यैः पापैःसर्प उदाहृतः
When benefic planets are in the angular houses from the ascendant, it is called 'spear'; when malefics are there, it is called 'serpent'.
व्यङ्गा स्थिरा लोनलजो मोनीस्रग्जोहिजोर्द्दितः
When the planets are in fixed signs, the formations called 'broken', 'lame', 'chain', 'garland', and 'staff' are described.
दाता समृद्धो दामास्थः पाशजो धनशीलयुक्
The donor is prosperous when situated in the house of wealth; the one associated with the noose is endowed with wealth and good conduct.
युगं पाषण्डयुर्गोले विधनो मलिनस्तथा
In the conjunction called 'yoke', the heretic is found; in the sphere, the poor and impure are likewise indicated.
सुभगाङ्गोर्द्धचंपात्सुखीशूरश्च चामरः
When the auspicious body is above, the one with the upper garland is happy, heroic, and like a yak-tail fan.
तौजः सकीर्तिः सुखभाक् मानवो भवति ध्रुवम्
One who is radiant, renowned, and enjoys happiness is certainly a human of firm resolve.
शक्तौ नीचो ऽलसो निःस्वो दण्डे प्रियवियोगभाक्
When power is weak, one is lowly, lazy, and destitute; in punishment, one experiences separation from loved ones.
दुरुधरा चैव विधौ ज्ञेयः केमुद्रुमो ऽन्यथा
Kemudruma is to be known as difficult to bear in fate, otherwise.
नीरोगः शीलवान् ख्यातः सुवेषश्चानफआभवः
He is healthy, of good character, renowned, well-dressed, and free from affliction.
केमुद्रुमे ऽतिमलिनो दुःखी नीचो ऽथ निर्धनः
In the Kemudruma, he is extremely impure, unhappy, lowly, and poor.
सुकीर्तिर्निपुणं विद्वांसं धनिनं तथा
He is of good reputation, skilled, learned, and wealthy as well.
समन्दो धातुकुशलं तथा भाडंविदं मुने
He is intelligent, skilled in minerals, and knowledgeable about contracts, O sage.
कुर्यात्सज्ञोर्थनिपुणं नम्रं सत्कीर्तिसंयुतम्
He makes one skilled in meaningful matters, humble, and endowed with good reputation.
ससितोसुकवेत्तारं सार्किपोनभवं मुने
He is a knower of poetry, acquainted with ghee and honey, O sage.
सशुक्रे द्यूतक्रर्हेयो नृती द्यूति समन्दके
With Shukra, he is fit for gambling; a dancer and gambler in the company of Samanda.
सभार्गवेसमन्दे लुब्धकः क्रूरो नरो भवति नारद
With Bhargava and Samanda, the man becomes a hunter, cruel, O Narada.
कवौ स मन्दमन्दाक्षा व वनिश्रयवित्तवान्
With Kavi, he is slow, with gentle eyes, and wealthy in forest resources.
