गोब्जास्तत्त्वतिथी सूर्यास्तिथिः स्वर्गा नखाः क्रमात्
The reckoning is by the lunar day, solar day, nakshatra, and so on, in order.
नखा विधुर्द्वावङ्काश्च धृतिः स्वाक्षिखमार्गणाः
The nakshatras, the Moon, the two halves, and the reckoning by the senses and the top of the head are also considered.
चक्रशुद्धस्तदा ग्राह्येस्यांशा आयुषिसंमताः
When the circle is pure, then the portions to be taken are those agreed upon for longevity.
मन्दशुक्तौ विनार्द्धोना ग्रहस्यास्तङ्गतस्य च
If the planet is in Manda or Shukra, or has set, half is not taken.
विहायारीनंशाद्यैर्हन्यादायुर्लवान् भजेत्
Leaving aside the portions of the enemy, one should take the remaining portions for the calculation of life.
पापस्यांशाः समग्रोना सौम्यस्यार्द्धविवर्जिताः
The portions of malefics are not taken in full; those of benefics are taken without the half.
वर्षाणि शेषमर्कध्नं हारात्संमासकाः स्मृताः
The remaining years, subtracted from the solar years, are considered as months and so on.
शेषे षष्ट्या हते भक्ते हारेण घटिकादिकम्
When the remainder is divided by sixty, the quotient is the number of months, and the remainder is days, hours, and so forth.
भजेद्वर्षाणि शेषे तु गुणिते द्वादशादिभिः
The remaining years should be multiplied by twelve and so on.
अशायुषी सलग्नानां खेटानामंशका हृताः
The portions of life for planets that are without longevity and joined with the ascendant are taken away.
ग्रहनलग्नं षड्रात्यं चेत्संस्कारो ऽन्यथा नहि
If the planet is in the ascendant or in the sixth house, the calculation is otherwise; not as before.
यदैकाल्यं तदास्तांशाः स्वाग्र्याप्तोना च भूर्गुणः
When there is equality, then their shares remain; otherwise, the share of the planet is not obtained.
गुमकध्नाश्चायुरंशाः संस्कारो ऽयमुदाहृतः
The portions of life are determined by the product of the multiplier; this is called the calculation.
शेषं द्विशतभक्तं स्युर्मासाः शेषा दिनादिकम्
The remainder, when divided by two hundred, gives the months; the remaining part gives days and so on.
शेषेर्ऽकादिगुणे भक्ते दिग्भर्मासादिकं भवेत्
When the remainder is divided by the product of the Sun and others, the result is the months, days, and so forth, according to direction.
अंशद्विध्नमक्षांशं मासाः खत्र्यादिसंगुणात्
The portion, when divided by the number of degrees, and multiplied by the months and the product of the signs from the ascendant, gives the result.
लग्नार्कचन्द्रमध्ये तु यो बली तद्दशा पुरा
Among the ascendant, Sun, and Moon, whichever is strongest, its period comes first.
बह्वायुर्यो वीर्यसाम्येर्काद्युतस्य प्राक् याचकः
The one with the greatest longevity, or with equal strength among the Sun and others, is the first to receive the period.
सप्तमासस्य तूर्यस्य चतुरस्रगतस्य च
Of the seventh, fourth, and those situated in the quadrants,
पाकपस्याब्धिनागाश्च ह्यर्णवा सहगस्य च
The fruits of the seventh, fourth, and those in the oceanic signs, along with those in the same group,
तुर्याष्टगस्य तु स्वर्गा गुणकाः परिकीर्तिताः
For the fourth and eighth, the multipliers are declared as those of heaven.
शेषेर्ऽकादिहते भक्ते मासाद्यैक्येन नारद
When the remainder is divided by the product of the Sun and others, the months and so on are obtained in unity, O Nārada.
दशेशमित्रस्वोच्चक्षङ्गोब्जोब्ध्येकाद्रिवृद्धिगः
The period increases by the number of years, months, and so on, according to the lord, friend, exaltation, own sign, Moon, year, and mountain.
प्रोक्तेतरस्थानगतस्तत्तद्भावक्षयं करः
If the planet is situated in another place as described, it causes the destruction of the corresponding result.
जीविकादिफलं सर्वं दशायां तस्य योजयेत्
All results related to livelihood and so on should be applied during its period.
शुभमत्रेक्षितश्चेष्टसद्वर्गस्थश्च यो ग्रहः
If a planet is aspected by benefics, moving, and situated in a good group,
यस्याष्टवर्गजं चापि फलं पूर्णशुभं भवेत्
One whose result arises from the eighth group attains a complete and auspicious outcome.
स्वत्रिकोणसुहृद्भस्थस्तस्य मध्यमसत्फलम्
If it is situated in its own trine or with a friend, the result is moderate and not excellent.
नेष्टमुत्कटमिष्टं तु स्वल्पं ज्ञात्वा बलं वदेत्
If it is in an unfavorable or harsh place, or in a desirable place but weak, knowing this, one should declare the result as slight.
स्थिरे नेष्टष्टमध्या च होरायास्त्र्यं शकैः फलम्
In a fixed sign, the result is unfavorable in the eighth and middle places; the result of the hour is threefold according to the divisions.
