तदन्यथाधिके तस्मिन्नेवं स्पष्टे सुखान्त्यगे
Otherwise, if there is excess in that, then in such clear and pleasant endings—
पूर्णान्तं मध्यमत्र स्याद्दर्शान्तेञ्जं त्रिभोनकम्
Here, the full ending is considered the middle; at the end of the new moon, it is three times the portion.
तद्दिघ्नांशकृतिद्व्यूनार्द्धार्कयुता हरिः
Multiply that portion by its direction, subtract two, add half the Sun, and Hari results.
हराप्तालंबनं स्वर्णवित्रिभेर्काधिकोनके
The support of Hari is gold; with three times the portion, add one to the measure.
शरोनोलंबनषडघ्ने तल्लवाढ्योनवित्रिभात्
The support of the arrow is six times less; add one to the measure, then three times the portion.
शब्देन्दुलिप्तैः षड्भिस्तु भक्तानतिर्नतिर्नतांशदिक्
With six marked by sound and Moon, the devoted bowing, non-bowing, and portion of direction are measured.
ततश्छन्नस्थितिदले साध्ये स्थित्यर्द्धषट्त्रिभिः
Then, in the covered state, the leaf is established by half the duration and three times the portion.
संस्कृतेस्ताभ्यां स्थित्यर्द्धे भवतः स्फुटे
From the calculation of those two, half the duration becomes clear.
अर्काद्यूना विश्व ईशा नवपञ्चदशांशकाः
The world and the lord are less than the Sun, with portions of nine and fifteen.
दृष्ट्वा ह्यादौ खेटबिंबं दृगौञ्च्ये लंबमीक्ष्य च

When it sets, it is known to be composite; the wise ascertain the times of arrival and departure.
संस्कारदिकलंबनमङ्गुलाद्यं प्रजायते

शृङ्गमन्यत्र उद्वाच्यं बलनाङ्गुललेखनात्
Elsewhere, the peak is to be spoken of, from the marking of strength and the drawing of the finger.
विकृज्यकाङ्गसिद्धाग्निभक्तालब्धोनसंयुताः
Those who are established by the distorted limb, fire, devotion, and who are not united with the obtained support—
ऋज्वोरनृज्वोर्विवरं गत्यन्तरविभाजितम्
The opening between the nodes and non-nodes is divided by a difference in their paths.
खनत्यासंस्कृतौव्वेषूदक्साम्येन्येन्तरं युतिः
When the excavation is unprepared, the union occurs at the point where the southern and other directions meet.
यदा भेदोलंबनाद्यं स्फुटार्थं सूर्यपर्ववत्
When the separation is supported, the meaning becomes clear, like the joints of the sun.
तयुते मण्डले क्रान्त्यौ तुल्यत्वे वै धृताभिधः
When the two revolutions are equal in the circle, it is called 'held in equality.'
समास्तदा व्यतीपातो भगणार्द्धे तपोयुतौ
Then, when both are equal, the intersection occurs at half the arc, joined with the sun.
दृक्कल्पसाधितांशादियुक्तयोः स्वावपक्रमौ
The respective advances and retreats of the two, determined by the calculated time, are ascertained.
यदि स्यादधिका भानोः क्रान्तेः पातो गतस्तदा
If the sun's revolution is greater, then the intersection moves forward.
यदान्यत्वं विधोः क्रान्तिः क्षेपाच्चेद्यदि शुद्ध्यति
When the moon's revolution is different, if the deviation is corrected, then it is purified.
तच्चापान्तर्मर्द्धवायोर्ज्यभाविनशीतगौ
That occurs within the arc, in the region of the wind, for the moon that is to be eclipsed.
चन्द्रभुक्त्या हृतं भानौ लिप्तादिशशिवत्फलम्

कर्मैतदसकृत्तावत्क्रान्ती यावत्समेतयोः

षष्टिश्चाचन्द्रभुक्ताप्ता पातकालस्य नाडिकाः
Sixty nāḍikās, obtained from the moon's consumption, are the time units of the intersection.
तयोर्भुक्तयन्तरेणाप्तं स्थित्यमर्द्धां नाडिकादिवत्
The half-duration, obtained between their consumptions, is like a nāḍikā and so forth.
तस्य संभवकालः स्यात्तत्संयोगेक्तसंज्ञकः
Its time of occurrence is called the conjunction of those two.
प्रज्वलज्ज्वलनाकारः सर्वकर्मसु गर्हितः
Having the form of blazing fire, it is condemned in all actions.
