ग्रामण्यंबुरवलप्वेवं कर्तृ चातिरि वातिनु
The leader, the water, the speech, thus the agent, and also the excess, and the wind.

पूर्वोत्तरोत्तराश्चैव दक्षिणश्चोत्तराधरौ
The former, the latter, and also the southern, the upper, and the lower.
युष्मदस्मञ्च प्रथमश्चरमोल्पस्तथार्धकः
The first, the last, the lesser, and the half, concerning you and us.
स्वेकाभुविरोधपरि विपर्ययश्चाव्ययास्तथा
Likewise, the opposition of one’s own and another, reversal, and the imperishable.
गार्ग्यो नाडायनात्रेयौ गाङ्गेयः पैतृष्वस्रीयः
Gārgya, Nāḍāyana, Ātreya, and Gāṅgeya are maternal cousins.
क्रियायुजोः कर्मकर्त्रोर्धैरियः कौङ्कुमं तथा
Of the two joined in action, the agent of the deed, and steadfastness, as well as saffron.
स्वार्थे चौरस्तु तुल्यार्थे चन्द्रवन्मुखमीक्षते
In one’s own interest, a thief; in equal interest, he gazes at the face like the moon.
गोमान्धनी च धनवानस्त्यर्थे प्रमितौ कियान्
A cow is wealth; the wealthy man, in matters of distress, how much is measured?
स्रग्वी तपस्वी मेधावी मायाव्यस्त्यर्थ एव च
One adorned with a garland, an ascetic, an intelligent man, a deceiver—these are only in respect to the matter.
ईषदपरिसमाप्तौ कल्पव्देशीय एव च
When something is slightly incomplete, it is called 'almost' or 'nearly so.'
पटुजातीयः कुत्सायां वैद्यपाशः प्रशंसने
Of the Paṭu caste, in blame; a physician’s noose, in praise.
प्राचुर्यादिष्वन्नमयो मृण्मयः स्रीमयस्तथा
In abundance and the like, made of food; made of clay, and likewise made of gold.
कृष्णतरः शुक्लतमः किम आख्यानतो ऽव्ययान्
Darker, whitest—what is it called by name? The imperishable ones.
परिमाणे जानुदघ्नं जानुद्वयसमित्यपि

आसंदी वञ्च चक्रीवत्तूष्णीकां जल्पतक्यपि
Āsaṃdī, Vañca, Cakrīvat, Tūṣṇīkā, and even Jalpatakī,
