चेष्टा तस्याप्रमेयस्य व्यापिन्यविहितात्मिका
His activity, immeasurable and pervading all, is established as his very nature.
तस्य ह्यात्मविशुद्ध्यर्थं सर्वकिल्बिषनाशनम्
Indeed, for the purification of his own self, it destroys all sins.
तथा चित्तस्थितो विष्णुर्योगिनां सर्वकिल्बिषम्
In this way, when Viṣṇu is established in the mind, all sins of yogis are destroyed.
कुर्वीत संस्थितं साधु विज्ञेया शुद्धलक्षणा
That which is thus firmly established should be known as possessing the mark of purity.
त्रिभावभावनातीतो मुक्तये योगिनां नृप
O King, transcending contemplation on the three states is for the liberation of yogis.
अशुद्धास्ते समस्तास्तु देवाद्याः कर्मयोनयः
All those sources of action, beginning with the gods, are impure.
एषा वै धारणा ज्ञेया यञ्चितं तत्र धार्यते
This, indeed, should be known as dhāraṇā—whatever is fixed there is held.
तच्छ्रूयता मनाधारे धारणा नोपपद्यते
Listen: without a support for the mind, dhāraṇā does not arise.
सुकपोलं सुविस्तीर्णं ललाटफलकोज्ज्वम्
One should contemplate him as having beautiful, well-formed cheeks and a broad, radiant forehead.
कम्बुग्रीवं सुविस्तीर्णश्रीवत्सांकितवक्षसम्
With a neck like a conch, a broad chest marked with Śrīvatsa.
प्रलंबाष्टभुजं विष्णुमथ वापि चतुर्भुजम्
Viṣṇu with eight long arms, or even with four arms.
चिन्तयेद्बूह्यभूतं तं पीतनिर्मलवाससम्
One should meditate on him, manifest and present, clad in pure yellow garments.
शार्ङ्गशङ्खगदाखड्गप्रकाशवलयाञ्चितम्
Adorned with shining bracelets, bearing the bow Śārṅga, conch, mace, and sword.
तावद्यावद् दृढीभूता तत्रैव नृप धारणा
O King, dhāraṇā remains there as long as it is firmly established.
नापयाति यदा चित्तात्सिद्धां मन्येत तां तदा
When it no longer departs from the mind, then one should consider it perfected.
चिन्तये द्भगवद्रूपं प्रशान्तं साक्षसूत्रकम्
One should contemplate the form of the Blessed Lord, serene, with a thread across his chest.
किरीटकेयूरमुखैर्भूषणै रहितं स्मरेत्
He should be remembered as free from ornaments such as crown, armlets, and necklace.
कुर्यात्ततो ऽवयविनि प्राणिधानपरो भवेत्
Then, one should become intent on fixing the life-breath in each limb.
तद्ध्यानं प्रथमैरङ्गैः षङ्भिर्निष्पाद्यते नृप
O King, that meditation is accomplished by the first six limbs.
मनसा ध्याननिष्पाद्यं समाधिः सो ऽभिधीयते
The meditation accomplished by the mind is called samādhi.
प्रापणीयस्तथैवात्मा प्रक्षीणाशेषभावनः
In the same way, the self is to be attained when all residual impressions have been exhausted.
निष्पाद्य मुक्तिकार्यं वै कृतकृत्यो निवर्तते
Having accomplished the work of liberation, one who has fulfilled all duties withdraws.
भवत्यभेदी भेदश्च तस्याज्ञानकृतो भवेत्
Unity arises, and difference too; but for him, difference is caused by ignorance.
आत्मनो ब्रह्मणाभेदं संमतं कः करिष्यति
Who would deny the accepted non-difference between the self and Brahman?
संक्षेपविस्तराभ्यां तु किमन्यत्क्रियतां तव
What else remains for you to do, whether in brief or in detail?
तवोपदेशात्सकलो नष्टश्चित्तमलो मम
By your instruction, all the impurity of my mind has been destroyed.
नरेद्रं गदितुं शक्यमपि विज्ञेयवेदभिः
Even those who know the Vedas cannot speak of the king of men.
परमार्थस्त्व संलाप्यो वचसां गोचरो न यः
The highest reality is to be realized, not reached by words.
यद्विमुक्तिपरो योगः प्रोक्तः केशिद्वजाव्ययः
That yoga which leads to liberation has been taught, O Keśidvaja, imperishable one.
आजगाम पुरं ब्रह्मंस्ततः केशिध्वजो नृपः
Then the king Keśidhvaja went to the city of Brahman.
